We're not poor, but not upper-middle. I was speaking generally. Granted, we do have it better off then most people... Or at least we all let on to be.

I believe that what Derrick is trying to say is that you need to have been born and raised in a different fashion/location by different people to understand his views and the views of others as well.
If you were raised by the Hilton family, for example, you would embrace capitalism in all its glory because that would be all you know.
If you were born to a lower middle class family who could barely afford ends meet, you might want a more equal system of wealth distribution and government representation in your country.
Stuff like that, methinks, is his point.

How about we stop arguing about how little money some of us have (what a silly thing to fight about...) and recall Derrick's original point. GO OUT FOR A DAY, VISIT SOME HOMELESS FOLK, FIND OUT WHAT THEY THINK BOUT THAT GOVERNMENT. Then try to get past Bill Gates' army of Roboguards and see what he thinks.
EMBRACE ALL SIDES OF THE ARGUMENT BEFORE MAKING AN OPINION. GOGOGOGOGO.

The thing is, it's BECAUSE of those homeless people that it could never work.
What is people's incentive to find work if they can rely on the governemnt for everything? And don't say they don't cause you know its true. Not for all homeless or poor people, but plenty of them.

That and I was raised in a trailer in a god forsaken swamp for the first 10 years of my life.

And don't say they don't cause you know its true. Not for all homeless or poor people, but plenty of them. THANK YOU. Now, get this, I'm not saying all homeless/poor are lazy. I will never say that. Especially now. Which is kinda why I like the TANF program, since it puts a limit on federal aid. But now, the Healthcare reform provides FREE healthcare to poor, while we all pay for it. My mom grew up poor, on food stamps. She knows. She's against this anyhow.

If we provide menial government jobs for the homeless then all of this would be moot.sorry, that's me being radical again. Most the homeless people I've known are not actually homeless, but are really the working poor. The reason we think of bums whenever we think of the homeless is because the other ones are out juggling multiple jobs. Are their lazy ones out there? Yes, but the majority of them are burnt out drug addicts. The fact is, most poor people work for a living, and I'm tired of us stepping on them.
