Things to do before this story gets going:
1. Make up a plot and title
2. Establish the technology level (I'm taking suggestions for this)
3. Figure out how many alien species there are, and how they are factionalized
4. Create some major Separatist factions in addition to the Great Stellar Powers and the Frontier League
5. MAKE UP A PLOT
Yeah. Also, it would be cool if, after we're finished, I can edit this and get it published. So, yeah. Do your best.

Ok, here's a faction:
Agrarian World Union Its exactly what it sounds like. Its a coalition of the major farming worlds and due to the all important resource they provide, they have a lot of power. It should also be noted that many of them are collectivized.

Noted and probably used.
Aside from one faction I've got, i'll take suggestions for the other major Separatist factions.
Keep 'em varied.

What do you mean by probably used?
here's some more:
Aqua Trading Coalition. Once again, exactly what it says on the tin. Lets face it, there are loads of planets without water, and these guys are pivotal to providing that most precious of liquid of all. Its often in cahoots with the AWU.
Galia System: The Galia System is an emerging galactic power house. These five border worlds are just barely capable of supporting life, and what life lives there is tough as nails. The people here not only have to worry about estranged wild life, but each other as well. For almost three decades, the planets here waged a battle for supremacy with all sides facing heavy casualties. After no true headway was made, all the planets signed a ceasefire. In the proceeding years Galian planetary hostility has diminished and, under the leadership of the newly formed Galian Counsel, the Galia System hopes to spread its influence far and wide.

If we have warpdrive technology, capable of exceeding lightspeed, why would we settle on a water-less planet? I mean, maybe if they decided to terrform like we did with the Solar system, but even then the water comes from the habitable planet.
I say probably because...well, I didn't have ideas. but I do now, so...

question.....since Interactive space died.....can I have my K'orm back?
also, I might have a faction:
The Padania Coalition: at one point in the distant past, Padania was nothing more than a small Italian political movement. With the advancement of technology as well as support from 'shadowy' families, Padania has risen to control a small sector, with three worlds of their own.
Padania often times uses technology traded to them from other species, and are not above underhanded tacts, and they often resort to terrorism. One of their most notable acts is taking in children and turning them into cybernetic assassins.

You can have the K'orm.
As for Separatist factions, only the Planetary Union is a "major" faction, that is, able to compete with the Stellar Powers.
The AWU, Galia, and the Pandania Coalition would all be listed as "minor factions".
