Adden paused halfway through an incantation to summon a powerful Spirit. The magis broke, but he didn't notice. "Help? Us help you?"
Torran raised an eyebrow. "Is this a common thing for you guys? Enemies becoming friends? I mean...I was technically an enemy of your friends before my uncle betrayed me. Now Jin is helping us...technically...and now the Mage...what the hell?
"Like a damn cartoon," Tris muttered behind Jin.

Ethan stared at the Mage, confusion written over his face. The Mage almost found it amusing. "What?" Ethan managed.
"As it stands, there is a bit a problem here in Mundus Veritas. By the way you lot have been bumbling around, I assume you are unaware of it." He stared hard at the group, though no expression showed beneath his hood. "I have been tracking the movements of a Blood Mage. There is one, possibly more, in this city."
Ethan paled. Blood Magic? Here? "I thought that was extinct? Wiped out?"
"So did I." The Mage murmured, mostly to himself. "Regardless, there is a Blood mage in this city, and I need help taking him, and any others that might be with him."

"Believe me, I have no intention of being your ally. I only considered fighting beside you while the Mage was a common enemy." Jin called from above. "If you all are going to help him, I really have no business with you."

"Hold on now," Cedric said. "Aren't you...well, I think you described yourself as a god. So...I guess I'll ask the big question: why do you need our help?"

The Mage considered this for a moment. As loath as he was to admit it..."I have not yet fully recovered from our last battle." he revealed, spitting the words. "And this is a task that no one person can complete. Blood Magic is a virus. An infestation. Once it has been learned by one, he begins teaching others, and so on. As of now the infestation is small, but I canno tbe everywhere at once." he turne dhis gaze to Ethan.
"I once turned to your ancestor Matrys for aid against agents of the dark art, Sorian. I would hope that I can rely on your bloodline yet again."
Ethan considered it. He actually did. Blood magic was nothing to laugh at. It was a primary factor that resulted in the Mage Wars, something that changed the very foundation of Mundus Magica.
"You knew my ancestor?" He asked, not really sure why.
"I did. He was a useful and talented individual." The Mage hesitated. "And one of the few people I would ever call friend."
Ethan stared at him for a long minute. Ikarus shifted uneasily, eying the surroundings while his sister kept her gaze on Jin, waiting for him to make a move.
"Alright." Ethan said finally. "I will help you." he declared. The twins shared a look before nodding. "THen we shall as well."

Adden squeezed his eyes shut before sighing. "Yeah. Dark Wing sticks together. Someone has to watch over the kids."
Yolanda, Torran, and Cedric all nodded their agreement.
"So what now, Jin?" Tris asked.

"We have no business helping them, that's for certain." Jin sighed. "The Mage of the Beginning has been an enemy since he first appeared all those months ago..." Jin scowled as he recalled the conclusion to the first part of his adventure, when Umbraceon was taken from him with minimal effort. "...And the rest of them are against our whole world-reshaping plan." he muttered. Not to mention Blood Magic is one of those things I wish to delve further into...
"To be honest, I didn't really have much of a destination after finding your uncle." he admitted. "We'll go wherever you wish to. Your call, Tristezza."

Tris sighed. "Oh don't put it on me. I'm with you to learn to be a Mage and to help you further your goals. I'm the student; you're the teacher." He shrugged. "Teach."
~~~~~
Stella stepped inside Izzy's shop - and felt her skin crawl. "Izzy? i'm ready to go, I guess. How the hell to I get where I'm supposed to go?"
~~~~~
Volitar found a spot outside the New Vesperitan gate and stood, doing his best bot to look obvious. Not that it mattered, since there were quite a number of others waiting for passengers. He opened one of his books on time magic and set to reading, glancing up every few pages, looking for an out of place woman.
~~~~~
Legion smiled as Andoris Kell applied his necromancy to the camp. The fresh corpses staggered to their feet like so many puppets. Each had their souls cycled through Legion and returned as a member of the fold. They were Legion now.
Now it was proven. All could be brought together. Legion would be all there ever would be. All souls would become one.
"Go, my Wraith Knight, travel into the civilized world and raise me an army."
Andoris surveyed his handiwork. "Legion, I would much rather stay by your side. We may be in Nostia, but there are still dangers present. Let me, the first of the Wraith Knights, serve as your right hand. Keep me by your side always. I will be your flaming sword - the bringer of your judgment."
Legion smiled. "You are a necromancer, Andoris, and thus the most valuable soul we possess. You alone must be the one to announce my presence to the world."
"I understand."
Andoris bowed and vanished.
Jin smiled. "First lesson, then: How to get out of bothersome situations." Jin clenched his necklace in one fist and smirked as light poured out from the crevices between his fingers. Any light that might have been in the void like area the protagonists stood in started flowing toward Jin's hands. "Infernal Spirit Slash!" At his command, the necklace (and, more accurately, his entire right fist) burst into a pillar of hellish fire that took the form of an enormous sword. "Ha!" Jin swung the flaming blade above him, using Lyceras' Spirit Realm power to tear open a portal back to New York. "It's been a pleasure." Jin bowed as he and Tris floated in the barrier toward the portal. "By the way, when Team Friendship..." he snickered, pointing the sword toward the collapsed team. "...comes to, tell them I'll be back in New York if they wish to take back Safiria's body. I've no use for it, really. And, without further ado, I bid you all farewell." With that, Jin and Tristezza exited the portal and landed safely in New York, the portal closing as they descended.
Tris struggled to get his bearings. "That was...interesting isn't a powerful enough word, and I'm not even sure there is." HE shook his head. "What in the world...how can he have that kind of power?"
"A mix of ambition, talent, and divine intervention, probably." Jin muttered, more thinking to himself than speaking to Tristezza. "To think...At the moment you saw him, his power was a fraction of what it was when I first met him. A dangerous person, indeed."
Raven watched them from his hiding place, tucked in the shadowed nook of rocks that he had been crouched in for the past hour. He had found his prey during the morning hours, after trekking over half of Nostia, though you wouldn't have guessed it, as the man showed no sign of fatigue. He watched as the figures moved through the ruins of what had been an exploratory camp, gathering bodies.
He knew what they were doing. He'd seen necromancy in practice many times in his life. Raven's hand dropped to the sword at his side. He thanked the fates that this body's owner had had the forethought to arm himself before venturing into Nostia. It wasn't a very well made piece, a simple arming sword with an edge that had been woefully neglected and chipped. But it would do.
Raven stood slowly from his spot, making sure not to be seen. Slowly he crept forward, and at the last moment broke into a run.
The first one to spot him was a pale figure, who's eyes had long degraded, replaced by the unnatural blue glow of the magic that now inhabited the body. Raven cut through the ghoul before it had a chance to...well, make noise. Undead never really had a talent for speech.
He charged into he thick of the the party, swinging left and right quickly decapitating two more ghouls.
The five remaining howled at him with dead voices and charged, gripping chipped and broken weapons in bony hands. Raven blocked the attack of the first casually, slicing the ghoul's arm off at the elbow then taking its head. He ducked quickly as steel whizzed over his head, spinning and slicing off the legs of another ghoul, which fell, yet still attempted to crawl towards him. He buried his sword int he thing's head, then quickly turned to face the remaining three.
Words danced across his lips as Raven called magic, a pleasant, powerful feeling that he had not felt for too long a time. He raised a hand at the dead soldiers. Three pillars of lightning shot down from the sky at his command, turning the enemies to power in an instant.
The camp was quiet.
Raven exhaled slowly, then turned and retrieved his blade from the skull of the ghoul laying behind him. There were only minions in this party. No doubt they had been gathering the bodies and then waiting for their commander to arrive and perform the necessary rituals.
Raven burned the corpses. No chance for necromantic reanimation now. Raven smiled grimly. "And on to the next one." he said in an almost cheery voice as he turned and walked from the carnage, the fire drifting lazily into Nostia's broken sky.
Tris shuddered. "Then let's hope we don't encounter him anytime soon. Or ever." He kicked at the ground. "So...magecraft."
~~~~~
"Waiting for someone?"
Volitar looked up from his book. A young man, maybe in his early twenties, grinned amiably in him. "Uh, yeah. Cousin from Veritas. It's her first time coming here, so I'm supposed to get her."
The stranger raised an eyebrow. "Cousin, huh?" But he said no more about it.
~~~~~
Legion stood before his wraith knights in the shadow of the Soulcatcher. It's Wraith Knights stood in a single line, dressed in their black-as-night armor from head to toe. Only Andoris Kell stood out from the rest: a red cloak adorned his armor. Modoson, the Earth Mage; Siegmal, the Lightning Mage; Lurell, the Fire Mage; Jushumar, the Shadow Mage; Avetillo, the Ice Mage; Harlia, the Summoner; Kieressa, the Druid. And Andoris Kell, the Necromancer.
Behind them waited a small host of reanimated corpses. Most were shambling horrors of bone and sinew and rotten flesh, but that was what you got when you only had the fallow earth of Nostia in which to graverob. In any case, it was a start.
All would be one in time.
Sofia folded her arms as she stood behind the group. "What exactly are you all waiting for, an invitation? Tch." She flipped her hair out of her eyes and took a step backwards. "I've watched you guys do amazing things."
Sofia looked towards Adden, "Pops, I've seen you use your powers since the day we met. I've seen you summon heavenly beasts for god's sake!"
"And you two," she looked directly at the twins, "it's obvious that you two share some sort of amazing power. You're twins! You must be special."
"And Cedric, I've seen you do a lot of crazy things. You've climbed pillars of rock, thrown them, too! You've done the most outrageous and crazy things I've seen yet!"
"And Yolanda, you may be a clutz, but I know you have it in you. If Cedric being your relative has anything to do with it, I can only imagine what you can accomplish."
"And you," Sofia glanced at Torren, "I don't know you yet, but I bet you can prove to me how powerful you really are. You practically pulse with power."
"And you..." Sofia turned lastly to Ethan. "The only reason I'm in this mess is because of you! Ever since I met you I've seen monsters, people with amazing powers, beings I never knew even existed. I've seen you use a power I doubt anyone has ever seen. You of all people shouldn't stand here and wait around."
Sofia turned back to the rest of the group and took up a powerful stance. "That goes for all of you! Are you just going to stand here after we've finally found the one we've been searching for? After we come face to face with the biggest obstacle we've faced yet? Well, I certainly won't! And if you've got any of the bravery, the courage, or the power I've seen after all of these months, then I expect you to get out of this void and find those two! Let's get out of here and move it!"
Dolan, the Head Master of the Academy of the human world, sat at his desk with his head buried in his hands. The last couple of days had wreaked havoc on his mind. He was constantly 'searching', looking back farther and farther into Jin's past, focusing on that woman he had seen on the cross. And that young girl....
"Father...Father!"
Dolan's head snapped up. "Yes, Kristina?" His daughter had arrived for another private lesson. Things hadn't been going very smoothly lately, and she was falling behind. Whether that was his fault or hers couldn't entirely be stated.
"Father, I've drawn another image. It's of the future. Here, look." Kristina handed over her notebook to her father. He wearily grabbed it and looked over it.
The image was of a young girl with raven hair and blue eyes. She looked like a common girl from New York, but she had an odd aura surrounding her. She was surrounded by shadowy figures that clouded her image. He could see that she was holding something like a stick, but it was slightly obscured by the shadow. The clearest part of the image was the eyes. The eyes looked so familiar to him. "What have you drawn exactly?"
Kristina grimaced and shrugged. "I...I don't know. I've seen her a few times now. Her image keeps getting clearer and clearer in my head, but I don't know who she is. I don't recognize her."
Dolan handed the sketch back to his daughter. His hand was slightly shaking as he did so. Kristina took it gently and stood up from her seat. "It's time for me to go. This is my free period, and I have some plans. What should I work on?"
Dolan sighed and rubbed his temples. "You're fine....you're doing fine..."
Kristina rose an eyebrow. "Fine? My images were blurry and I couldn't even tell you who the girl was. I don't know what these shadowy figures are or why they're there, and I don't know what this has to do with the future. And you think I'm doing fine?"
"You've had a rough few days, Kristina." Dolan lifted his head and managed a small smile. "This school's excitement must have an affect on you. The students look to you for guidance. I don't doubt that they flood you with questions often. Questions you can't answer. It shows in your work. When you are worried, the process of seeing becomes harder for you, as it does for me. You must learn to relax and focus. That is all I ask of you. Good day, Kristina." Dolan let his head fall once more into his palms.
Kristina slowly turned to go, but she hesitated at the door. "You need to relax, too, father. You're powers are more valuable and depended upon than mine." Kristina opened the door and exited the office.
Dolan slumped back in his chair. "What has become of my academy? The Mage himself...I see him on everyone's mind. On one mind especially...." Markis came to his mind. "That boy...ever since he came here, I knew something was off. I knew he was lying about his powers, but I trusted this academy to show him a better life, yet his mind is the strongest out of all the students when it comes to the incidents I've seen. Students forming a cult? Good heavens, who could have thought that such young people would succumb to it?! But I should have known...I should have seen it....I should have been more careful. I let my emotions get in the way. I let them put my guard down and cloud my thoughts. I should have known after her not to let my emotions distract me from my work....."
-----------------
Kristina's walk was fast paced and determined. Her mind was filled with sketches she had been drawing for the past few nights. All of them were of one boy surrounded by dark clouds and an evil colored red. In every one of them, the clouds and shadow formed a figure. It was a figure she did not recognize and doubted that she even knew, but she knew one thing....she knew the boy. That boy had caused nothing but trouble to the school and to her father. And unless her father had clear thoughts, he couldn't focus on her. He couldn't focus on her powers and her improvement. She was determined to set things straight on her own. Seeing wasn't the only power she possessed. She had been attending the academy for five years after all...
Kristina arrived at Markis' room. Her expression remained determined as she knocked on his door...no....pounded. "Markis, I know you're in there! You'd better open this door!"
Markis' door opened slowly, the boy standing in the doorway. He rubbed his eyes blearily, obviously having been woken up by Kristina's pounding. "What?" he asked irritably. He had been up half the night before, teaching some last minute blood rituals to some of the new initiates. Honesly, he didn't see why they stuck around this academy. In Markis' opinion, the new recruits weren't worth half the blood spent to teach them. "Is something the matter?"
Kristina pushed the door open and made her way into his room. "I've been 'seeing' you for the past few nights. I keep seeing images of you. There is something the matter with you, and I know it has something to do with all the crap that's been going on. Now, you're going to tell me, or I'm going to make you."
Kristina's fingers sparked with fury, making her red hair raise slightly.
"You've been....seeing me?" One of Markis' eyebrows raised, a small smirk finding it's way onto his face. "Is that your odd way of coming on to me or something? Yes, you can come in by the way, so nice of you to ask first." while he was speaking, one of Markis' hands was slowly reaching behind him toward his dresser, and the pistol he kept resting there.
Kristina's eyebrow twitched with anger. "Seeing, you idiot, is a power! Haven't you learned anything while you were here? I can see the past, present, and future, and I saw you!" Nevermind that she was still learning and the images were a little fuzzy, but she was sure about one thing.
"I know you're not alone." Kristina took a step toward Markis. "I've seen a shadowy figure watching over you in my visions. I know someone is helping you." She took another step. "Instructing you." Another step. "But what I want to know is who. Who is helping you, Markis?" She was nearly face to face with him now. "Who is he?"
Markis feigned surprise. "Why Kristina," he was pretty sure that was her name. "How could you not recognize our dear professor Qwaser?" his gaze sharpened, and in a deft movement he grabbed the gun behind him and brought it up under Kristina's chin. "You're far too observant for your own good. Not too smart to come here on your own though."
