Shaun Gendo pushed gingerly through the crowd of London-III, muttering polite apologies as he did so, barely noticing those returned. A noon sun blazed down from sky, which made Shaun sweat beneath his layers of clothing. Even in the winter, the acceptable layers of clothing seemed a bit much to Shaun. Did he really need leggings, underwear, pants, a shirt, an overshirt, a coat, and an overcoat? Maybe during a blizzard…
Alas, such was demanded from society, and so he conformed, if only to avoid drawing attention to himself. But here in London-III, he could have been wearing a brightly colored bird costume and he would not have drawn more than a passing glance from its inhabitants, he guessed. Here he was invisible. At least until he bumped into someone else, in which case he became the immediate target fro said individual to vent any pent up anger they had stored.
They wouldn’t say such things if they knew my father was Lord Gendo, Shaun thought to himself.

I'm liking it. But something tells me that we need a disclaimer for the last name being Gendo. Otherwise people may confuse us for stupid twats.
Disclaimer by TEAM_DERRICK:
We are aware of the fact that Shinji's last name is not Gendo. You should note however that this isn't Shinji, but young Sir Shaun of the House of Gendo. So just recite the MST3K mantra and enjoy the show!
So yeah. Awesome Punk!

But he wasn’t one to flaunt his influence around like some of the other children he left behind at his boarding school. Now that he thought about it, he was rather glad to be free of that place and its stuffy atmosphere. Of its strict regimen of study and the harsh, unforgiving teachers who ran it - he thought – like a prison.
As he bumped his way through the slowly retreating crowd, he caught snatches of conversation.
“Whatever could be this time? This is the third time this week we’ve had to…”
“Probably the damn Krauts, again. It’s always the bloody Kaiser…”
“…Could it be the Martians?”
“Ha. Not bloody likely. We smashed them good years ago. I have to give the Krauts credit, at least, for that: they know how to fight.”
“Which is why we aren’t ever at peace…”

Diggin it. Also, when Rheetsooko (or whathaveyou) is introduced can we refer to her as a large mass of green tentacles and feelers?

how long are each chapter going to be, in terms of Word pages? I usually have my fanfic chapters at around 10, though s mething like 20 or 30 would be nice for this.

I go by words, and 2000 is usually the minimum, but my philosophy is "whenever its's over, it's over"

I'd like to go for epic length, if possible. There's so much content to use it seems almost called for to have long chapters.
Note-TheHiddenAssassin: In case you all haven't guessed, this is set in a steam-punk setting, or as my esteemed associate calls it, "awesome-punk" all (or most) names have been changed to fit the new style accordingly. But it should be fairly easy to determine who is who; most characters' new names start with the same letter as their old names. ex: Shinji = Shaun.

Long chapters don't impress me unless they actually have relevant content. Most I see, i usually (mentally) divide up into smaller chapters. My brains just works in smaller increments of storytelling, I guess.
Like I said, I'll shoot for long, but if it's over, it's over.

I imagine they'll get longer as we go on anyway. Chapter one essentially ends with Sachiel's defeat. I'm on page 3 and Ms. Ato hasn't even shown up.
