Everyone was a little surprised when Derrick received the Key of Loki. Hell, even the guys who came up with it were a little surprised. The scientists who basically made the first inter-dimensional TARDIS expected the device to stay within their lab. Unfortunately, for reasons not truly understood (although it may involve spilling coffee on the control panel), it shifted out of the lab; teleported over seven states; and eventually merged with Derrick on a cellular level.
Having control of nearly infinite energy was enough to terrify everyone he knew, but rather than use his new abilities to conquer the world, he just went about his usual activities. Anyone who knew him knew that something had to be wrong. Everyone within his inner circle eventually confronted him about it before a Friday football game.
"Listen guys," he said,"there's no point in abusing the power I've gotten. I'm not really able to control it as well as I'd like. Sure, I can shoot kamehameha waves from my finger tips, but the energy isn't really stuck inside me. It's leaking out... somewhere."
"Your pants?" asked George.
"I wish. I don't think that it's leaking anywhere in our world, and where ever it's leaking, it's also coming back the other way."
"What?" said Tyler, "Derrick, were not inter-dimensional beings here, so you might wanna clarify."
"It means that it's dragging something out of where it's leaking."
"Great," said Adam,"You're a psyker whose unwittingly draging Daemons out the warp! Awesome!"
"I don't know about that, but I've talked to the scientists about it and they think that I'm experiencing quantum displacement, or I'm about to. My time here is sorta limited."
"That sucks," said Nicole.
"Yeah, my folks already knew about it and I figured that I'd have to tell you guys eventually. So... Thanks for forcing me to."

Two weeks later. It's midnight. Derrick's in bed, and yet, not. Derrick could feel his presence flowing out of the room. He closed his eyes and braced himself for his new life in another universe. For a second, he felt rather peaceful. He felt as though he had reached Nirvana. Perfectly accepting of his fate. Until he saw who was being dragged out.
"Oh man. Why did it have to be you?"
The sound waves from Derrick's groaning soon became the only thing left of him. Because the person sitting on his bed was certainly not him.
(Roll call bitches)
