That's awesome. A nice transition from stealing from the series into the more Inception-inspired parts that become the norm. Our job from Gaghiel onward (well, Israfel; I already know how Gaghiel's going to work) is to make each Angel battle unique beyond the series.

How are we going to work Gaghiel? Does he infest a dolphin or something?
"Oh no! Flipper has an AT field!"
"Grand Master Spy: Pen-Pen!"
"Wark?"
"Take these nun-chuks!"
"Wark!"

In the battle, really as soon as it begins, Gaghiel floods the maze, which they didn't think it could do, and the battle kind of goes along with the show, except that Asuka shows off by being able to stand on the water with her AT Field. While she's busy showing off, Gaghiel jumps up and swallows her. I guess the Core was in it stomach? Well, it is now. She stabs it with the prog knife and rides the explosion back to the surface.

So yeah, Zeruel basically starts a mental rebuild 2.0 third impact that gets averted due to Shinji and Mana mind raping him from the inside. Next.

So I had an idea about Tabris.
When Shinji kills him, he's flooded with the memories of Kaworu. Apparently, the guy goes waaaaay back.
Several thousand years ago, ADAM woke up. Nothing really catastrophic happened, he just became aware of his surroundings. He didn't like what he saw.
Lilim. Trillions of them. And no way to destroy them. After all, the Black Seed was concealed under miles of rock and dirt and all the angels were still developing. Or so he thought. He watched humanity for a couple thousand years. Feeling that these beings showed the greatest potential for mass destruction, he decided to implant some ideas into their heads. Namely, that there is a deity or deities that openly wishes for them to take over the world and destroy all who oppose them. He did not create any one religion, but many. All of which emphasizing traits that he found potentially destructive. He even created religions specifically made to rival others. However, things just weren't going fast enough.
ADAM prematurely awoke one of his sons, Tabris, to walk with the Lilim. To learn their ways, conquer them, and then have them mass suicide via angelic third impact for their god-king. Tabris was given a human mind, which he eventually took over. However, Tabris began to see himself as an imperfect union of ADAM and Lilith. After years spent with humanity, he came to love them.
Lilith had been watching. She knew of everything going on above her. She told Tabris that rather than destroying them, he should imprint a new idea into their heads. An idea so powerful that it would keep the human race from ever truly destroying themselves. The idea of Cosmically Approved Unconditional Love.
Tabris became a great teacher and mentor to thousands. ADAM did not take this well and had him killed, twice. But his teachings and white lies remained and his followers soon covered the globe. ADAM did his best to pervert the teachings but the damage was done.
TL:DR Shinji kills Jesus.

This is the scene where Kaworu and Rei first meet.
this happens the day after Toji and Bardiel are killed.
~~~~~
Misato left the two of them alone in the break room. As soon as she was out of earshot, Rei said to Kaworu, “I do not like you.”
“That’s rather harsh, Rei,” Kaworu feint insult. “Why would you say such a thing?”
“I do not like you because you are the vessel for the soul of my enemy.”
Now Kaworu really was hurt. “That’s unfair, Rei. I did not choose to be born the vessel for Adam, it was thrust upon me the moment I emerged from the LCL tank, much like yourself. Can you honestly say you hate someone who is exactly like you?” He touched his hand to her cheek. She slapped it away.
“We are nothing alike.” Although in her mind, Rei knew he was correct.
“We are more alike than you would admit, Rei. You were created by man as a copy of another for the express purpose of furthering another’s goals and ambitions. You never were supposed to have a life or even an identity.” Rei remained silent. “Admit it.”
“I will admit nothing. Not to an Angel.” She turned on her heel and made for the door.
“There is, however, a key difference between us, Rei, one which you have so carelessly pointed out: I am an Angel and you are not.” Rei stopped, taking the bait. “I am an Angel,” he repeated, “and you are not. We come from near identical origins, are both the receptacles for souls for Adam and Lilith, but I am an Angel. And you are not.”
Slowly, Rei turned to face Kaworu again. “Explain yourself.”
“For all our similarities, I am the only one of us named in the Dead Sea Scroll: Tabris, the 17th Angel. You, Rei Ayanami, are not even hinted at in the Scrolls. What I mean to say is, you were never meant to exist. The Dead Sea Scrolls were never meant to fall in Lilim hands, but they did. SEELE ordered your creation as part of their own schemes. How could they have predicted that Gendo Ikari would use his own dead wife as a model?”
Kaworu studied Rei. Her silent, unmoving face revealed nothing of her inner thoughts. Not that that would be any barrier to Kaworu. She fascinated him, not solely because he had never met another being like himself. The other Angels were too…Angelic. There were no others like him except Rei, and she existed on the opposite end of the conflict. Until now, that is.
“In short, you are extraneous, expendable, and an unnecessary obstacle for my children.”
Any warmth that had existed in his smile vanished and was replaced with malice. Rei felt herself shake in spite of herself. Someone else was speaking to her now, no longer Kaworu.
“There is still a chance for peace between us,” she spoke, though the words were not her own. “There can still be a coexistence.”
Kaworu sneered. “There can never be peace.” In the blink of an eye, Kaworu had her by the throat and lifted her off the ground. All around them, the doors slammed shut and locked, the window blinds fell, leaving only the light from a few fluorescent lights. “You killed my children!” Kaworu slammed her against the wall hard enough to knock the wind out of her. “Sachiel! Shamshel! Ramiel! Gaghiel! Israfel! Sandalphon! Matariel! Sahaquiel! Iruel! Leliel! And now Bardiel! How can there be a peace between us when over half of my children lay dead at the hands of you?”
“You…attacked us first,” Rei wheezed. “Their deaths are their own fault.”
He tightened his grip. “No. You attacked first. This planet was mine. I was to be the progenitor of life for this rock, until Lilith fell from the sky and stole it from me!”
“My coming was not my decision, you know that.”
“Then you should have left! One world may not house the children of the Fruit of Life and the children of the Fruit of Knowledge; this is forbidden. Even if we wanted peace, we could not have it. Lilim and Angels are too different to be able to live together.”
“Then…my children will have to destroy yours.”
His laughter was terrible – cold and humorless. “Is that so? You think because you have the upper hand at the moment, you will be victorious? Look at the situation, Lilith! I, the son of Adam have infiltrated the very heart of the Lilim resistance. I can destroy you from the inside out at any time I wish.”
“Adam…”
“Where are you hiding, Lilith? I know it is you speaking through this puppet! I know you are here, somewhere beneath this labyrinth. In this case it seems your weakness works in your favor. The strength of the Children’s A.T. Fields interferes with yours. Not to mention that every goddamn Lilim in the world feels exactly like you do.” He squeezed his hand on her throat even more and leaned in close. “I am much more powerful than you. See how easily I overpower your vessel?”
“If…you are…going to…kill me…than kill me.” That was Rei talking, not Lilith.
“Oh no. I know about all of the Rei clones floating the LCL in Terminal Dogma. Killing you would do me no good, as you would simply reappear again tomorrow.”
“How..do you…?”
He grinned that awful malicious grin again. “Being a member of SEELE does give me access to a vast store of secrets. NERV’s were surprisingly easy to obtain. But no, I don’t think I will kill you. That would be too easy.” He licked his lips. “I want to give you a message, one that will convey just how much more powerful I am than you.”
Kaworu’s right hand slipped off her throat and dropped to her neck, a finger slipping between her blouse and her skin. Rei cringed at the contact. “A very human message.” He tugged ever so slightly. “You see, what better way to destroy an enemy than by proving that you can defeat them on their own terms?” He gripped her collar with his entire fist. “I find that some human desires are very pleasing to me, especially when I am in full possession of my host’s body.”
In one swift motion, Kaworu pulled at her blouse, applying his A.T. Field so that it tore away with ease and shredded the rest of her clothes as well, leaving her completely naked. She was unable to speak he had her throat so tight. “I must say, though, Gendo did an excellent job on you. In another universe, we could have been…” he let the sentence hang as his hand wandered over her body.
“You see, Lilith! You see how powerless you are to stop me! Not even your most direct servant – not even your vessel is able to be protected by you.” Tears spilled from Rei’s eyes and she let out a strangled cry.
With a wicked smile, Kaworu flung her around and slammed her to the ground. “The end is approaching for you and your children,” he announced, looming over her. “All of your champions are severely unstable and very easy to manipulate. I will have this complete before Zeruel appears.”
“Never…”
“Defiant to the end. Just like the Lilim. It will make my victory all that much more enjoyable.” With a snap of his fingers, Kaworu’s clothes vanished and Rei’s eyes widened in horror. “While I’m at it,” Kaworu placed his free hand over Rei’s forehead. “Let’s see what’s inside that pretty little mind of yours, Rei.”
Rei screamed.
-
When he was finished, Kaworu walked away as his clothes reassembled, leaving Rei on the floor. Out in the hall, he collapsed to one knee, breathless. “Damn it. Holding onto a body for this long is strenuous.”
“Did you really have to do that?” Kaworu asked.
“Maybe not,” Adam admitted. “But it doesn’t matter anyway. You won’t remember it in the morning.”
“What?”
“I can’t have an Eva pilot walking around with the memory of him raping another teammate, can I? As though it were obvious.
“But…won’t she remember?”
“Perhaps. Maybe Lilith will wipe the memory from her, though. Even if she doesn’t, Rei isn’t likely to be affected the same way as a normal Lilim. Like I said, doesn’t matter.” Adam placed Kaworu’s hand on his head and erased the memory, altering it slightly.
“Tabris?” He asked. “What did we just do?”
“We…had a conversation with Rei Ayanami, the First Child. She does not like me because I house your soul. Why?”
“No reason. I am going away now. This has been…stressful. You likely won’t hear from me for a very long time, Tabris. Follow your orders. Infiltrate NERV. Gain the Children’s trust.”
“Understood.”
~~~~~
This isn't a concept piece, or a "Hey, what if?" No, this is the legit introduction to Kaworu Nagisa. Make no mistake, this will occur, and will also bump the rating from T to M.
So, Adam, Derrick, Nicole...thoughts?

Adam the rapist...
I can't say I don't like it, but... damn son.
Whatever, I still like my Jesus theory. Should we use that or should I just hold onto it for some distant fanfic that I'll probably write 10 years from now?

So how is Shinji going to react to this? He has to be made aware of this at some point. It'd be too juicy to pass up.

So I was thinking about how we can make the next angel unique.
I figured that it could bleed crabs or something. Sorta like the lice on the cloverfield monster, only with lazer whips.
I got nothing.

the Toji and Aida that appear in the battle are just projections, but Shinji isn't willing to just let them be destroyed. Until Mal shows up.
