Well, the stars are right and the Old Ones have awoken. Thankfully, they're not quite as immortal as we thought they'd be and we can destroy them with conventional weapons, though with heavy losses. Every civilized country is mobilizing for a war that we'll probably lose anyway.
"Purist" witch hunts plague the US with people trying to figure out who's human and who's actually a Deep One in disguise. Congress has formed a coalition government in conjunction with the newly empowered Executive, effectively turning the former Representative Democracy into a Presidential Dictatorship.
The EU has federalized in an attempt to retake the British Isles, with de-facto power lying with Germany and France. Russia has annexed the former Soviet Republics and is knee deep in Eldritch China.Japan sank into the waves.
The Middle East is no more as Nyarlathotep has arisen from his temples across the region.
In a time of such terror, many began believe that God was dead. No benevolent force could let this happen. If only the truth wasn't so literal. Tired of taking orders to bow before humanity, the Arch-Angel Michael led a rebellion and slew the All-Father. Without YHWH to keep the gate closed, Yog-Sothoth awoke his son and high priest, Dread Cthulhu, and the Old One's returned.
Angels are pouring into Palestine, hoping to create the Heavenly Kingdom on Earth. Humanity is caught up in a war between gods and there is no way out.
Someone make this worse.

wait, so how many Pantheons exist?

As many as you want.
However, a running theme is that the pantheons are broken messes feebly trying to wrestle their way back to the top.
So if you want to add a pantheon, be sure to fuck it up first.
If it isn't too clear, the Eldritch forces aren't immortal, so that's their screw and the Forces of Heaven lack a proper God-Head.

I'm going to screw around with the Norse pantheon probably. Give me a bit.

I approve. However, please note that in Lovecraft canon the Olympian and Egyptian Pantheons are offshoots of Eldritch Gods. The Norse are fair game. EDIT: Here, have a map. Dark Blue is America (We grew some balls and finally annexed Canada and Mexico). Light is the EU (or what's left of it), Vomit Green is the newly expanded Union of Pan-Slavic and Eurasian Republics, the Dark Green are areas controlled by Eldritch forces, and yellow is Angel land. Blank spaces may be claimed by subsequent posts. DOUBLE EDIT: forgot the map :negative:

I'll be bouncing ideas off of here, for the most part. Odin is probably dead and the Asgardians are heading for Ragnarok

Ragnarok comes to Asgard.
Odin is swallowed by Fenrir, who has broken lose of the Sleipnir that bound him. The Jotuns have found new morale and are engaging the Aesir in open combat all across the nine worlds.
the combat has spilled onto Earth, or Midgard, to them.
The Jotuns have claimed Iceland, Greenland, and Newfounland, which they renamed Vinland. The remaining Norse deities have reclaimed Scandinavia. they fight with unstoppable vigor, even in the face of certain doom.
The human population has been more or less drafted into their fight

The Once and Future King reigns supreme over Old England. King Arthur and Merlin walked up to the gates of Westminster with an army of the undead and demanded to be let in. Elizabeth gladly gave her crown to the father of the Angles. Camelot has proclaimed itself to be the central Kingdom of what is know the Empire of Britannia. Arthur has managed to work an odd truce with both the Aesir and the Angles. However, the transition from a Constitutional Monarchy to a Neo-Feudal Empire has left many Britons somewhat unorganized. Indeed, there are many revolutionaries starting an underground rebellion throughout the Realm! The People's Flag refuses to be ruled by a king of myth, but they'll have a hard time taking down the kingdom. The legions of Arthur's Undead protect the land from any danger and many are beginning to wonder how they'd live without them. Ireland has agreed to once again place its protection under the Union Jack.

The Aztec Pantheon has divided between those who wish to wipe away the world and begin anew, and those who don't. A such, the a schism has arisen, causing much infighting within the followers of the Aztec gods. South America is at war with itself as followers of different gods and factions kill one another in the streets. At the head of all of this is the Cult of Quetzalcoatl, a radical militant group that all but controls the area of Mexico, US. The Cult works for the goal of resurrecting their god and bringing about the end of this world, to be reborn in the image of the Feathered Serpent.
The Cult of Quetzalcoatl has risen in numbers, with now thousands of members. Using terrorist guerrilla tactics and ancient blood rituals that allow the "priests" to wield fearsome blood magics, the Cult controls Central America in fear.

Scandinavia has become a land united by their old gods, the Aesir. The death of the All-Father by the hands of Micheal and the subsequent awakening of the Great Old Ones has heralded the onset of Ragnarok, the end of the world. Although Fenrir remains bound, and Loki imprisoned, the Aesir's old enemies, the Jotuns, are making the first move after centuries of hiding. A small group took Asgard by surprise and used Bifrost to come to Midgard, to Earth, where they razed Iceland, Greenland, and have made a home in Vinland (Newfoundland), where they seek to make a true home for themselves, having spent centuries living as the Aesir's punching bags. No more, they say. If they cannot have Asgard, they will have Midgard, the home of the mortals the Aesir care so much for.
Odin and the Aesir are held down in a war in Asgard, but have made themselves known to the menfolk that once worshipped them. Fight the Jotuns for the Aesir, and they will know eternity in the halls of Valhalla. Faced with the other options, siding with the Aesir seemed the best. Now the North Atlantic is embroiled in a war of attrition between the new Viking armies and the Jotun hordes.
Even as Odin's Valkyries fulfill the promise, Hel still claims her share of the dead - half - and refuses to surrender her Nair. So even though the new Vikings are returned to the battlefield upon death as einherjar, their numbers decrease exponentially.

Edit: Freyja receives half the dead in Folkvangr. Hel only receives the inglorious dead. Either way, Freyja is holding out on the Aesir

The Greeks were hit hard early by the invading abominations, but rallied. Larges amounts of the population are dead, but the Greek Pantheon has returned for the Hellenic peoples. Zeus is dead, stabbed to death by a bitter Hera, who finally realized just how many people he slept with.
However, a god's power cannot be destroyed so easily, and all of Zeus's was transferred to his children, mortal and not. Hera was quickly put down by a coalition of Lady Athena, and the Lords Ares and Hades, while Lord Poseidon stays to keep the abominations out of Greece by the seas and storms. Lord Hephaestus has employed almost all of the smiths and manufacturers, and is loving the newfound productivity of modern factories, quickly bringing Greece up to the industrial level of a larger nation, and then some.
Lady Athena and Lords Hades and Ares agreed to bring back all the heroes of myth from their afterlife, be it in Tartarus, Erebus, or Elysium. Furthermore, with Zeus's power now in every remaining Greek (Dude got around), they have been enhanced to the point of demigods. But strength in arms cannot make up strength in numbers, and the whole of the Greek population now fits on the tiny Peloponnese peninsula, with the power of Lord Poseidon protecting it from harm. As the Greeks can pass without fear of the storms, they have retaken all of their islands, and the Peloponnese peninsula itself has been detached by powerful earthquakes, and is now further into the Mediterranean.
Hearing of the safe haven of the Greeks, many members of the smaller European countries have fled from their countries, where, while with intact governments, they have been merged with Germany or Italy. These people mostly consist of Turks, Croats, and Italians, being chiefly the surviving population of the Croatian islands and their coastal cities (such as Dubrovnik) and the last remnants of the Macedonian people. Whether or not any of these boats get through is unknown; many wrecks are discovered on the shores of Italy, but even if a boat got through, it will not return.
The military of Greece has become mandatory, falling back on the citizen-soldiers of ancient time, but with the problems in resources, many are forced to cycle between time in the army and time farming. The sea has been Greece's salvation, and the uncorrupted sea has shares her bounty with the Greeks. The tactics of modern day combined warface have fallen to the wayside as well, as without the might of Zeus to guard the air, the Hellenic Air Force has been mostly obliterated. The armies are now made up of large amounts of highly trained, expert infantry, supplemented by small brigades of mechanized infantry, and the sole remaining armored battalion. Infantry are deployed in small, tightly knit phalanxes to present firepower while minimizing the area they have to defend.
The seas are guarded mostly by the might of Lord Poseidon, of course, but heavily armored triremes patrol Hellenic waters. In the day of gods and demons, the carriers and missile cruisers have been rendered obsolete, and fast, powerful battleships take precedence, outracing their enemies and pouding them with withering onslaughts. It is said among the EU that Lord Hephaestus must have had some of his warrior-smiths raid the Pentagon, for these new triremes resemble a mixture of PT Boats and Iowa-class Battleships.
The population has been reduced from ten million to barely one hundred thousand, and the demographics sway more towards the thirty and forty years old. Though strong, the relative position of the Hellenic Islands to the Heavenly Kingdom on Earth, as well as the hellhole of the abomination-filled Middle East makes Greece a constant target, and the bitter nations of the European Union refuse to send aid. Attacks are a constant threat, and dissent amongst the gods is growing. Lord Hades grows tired of resorting and judging the waves of the Greek dead, and only Lord Poseidon's importance of position has held back his ego from seizing control of the pantheon in wake of the absence of Zeus. Lord Ares demands a retributive strike on the heart of the beasts, but Lady Athena advises to hold the Islands as defensive strong points.
Though the majority of the Greek population lies on Pelops (the renamed Peloponnesian peninsula), the military strength is divided up, with the strategic reverse on Pelops itself. Crete is now a Forge Island, where Lord Hephaestus has taken control and directs the creation and development of new arms for the Greek people. Former vacation and resort locations such as Santorini have become Fortress Islands, their high cliffs natural bulwarks augmented by enough Anti-Air Artillery to destroy an asteroid.
And that's before a Greek brought Lord Hephaestus the gift of his collection of Warhammer 40000 codexes.

what
NOOOOOO
I didn't read though properly!
NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
That doesn't leave me anything though!
... okay, how about this?
Zeus, the overlord of the Greek Pantheon, in his infinite arrogance, severed ties to the Abominations, his long and well-recorded dalliances with the humans convincing him that ruling over millions of humans was better than ruling over abominations. Other Greek gods may or may not have agreed, but it was too late, as Zeus had already flipped the proverbial birdie at dread Cthulhu, and with Hera striking him down soon after, the gods had no choice but to work together. Lady Athena quickly went to work amongst the gods to convince them of the human's cause. Lord Ares was shown how a conflict between the Greeks and the Abominations would be a more worthy fight, but was convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt when Lord Hephaestus started producing arms inspired by the Warhammer 40000 'verse.
