Name: Dorrei Metri the Illusive Squid
Age: 25
Appearance: Stands at about 5'4", has long, extremely light blonde hair, light blue eyes, and long pink tentacles mixed in with hair. Frequently dresses in suits or in the garb of ninja squidsassins.
Personality: Cale's polar opposite, she takes everything seriously and always abides by Squid laws and regulations. The two share the same goals, but have very different methods of achieving them.
Short History: When Dorrei was 16 years old, her mother's sudden passing required her to take over as the second-in-command to Carl Efrun, the Illusive Squid. Despite the fact that Clan Efrun's leadership had been commonly known to have been corrupt for many generations, she was still shocked and disgusted by the lengths to which Carl would go in order to serve his own desires. During her five years as second-in-command, she worked to counteract his ruthless and greedy behaviors in any way that she could.
Carl was forced to retire from his position at age 65 when a mysterious inside source leaked information about multiple political scandals in which he had been directly involved. He was placed in the City Under the Sea's prison, and Clan Efrun was left without an heir for the first time in recorded squidstory- Carl's two children had been missing for nearly thirty years by this point. Dorrei took his place, and she immediately started to reform the clan to deal with the corruption problem.
After Dorrei had held the title of Illusive Squid for a full year, an event occurred which shook the City under the Sea to its core. Cale Efrun and Zento Calfrun, long-lost grandsons of the previous Illusive Squid, arrived in the city, claiming that the Rending Seas would soon be threatened by a race of sentient fishing equipment known as the Shrimpers. They were not believed, of course, but as the rightful heir to Clan Efrun, Cale became Dorrei's personal apprentice so that he may someday replace her.
Three years passed, and the Council of Squid Lords, which represented the nine great Clans, began discussing an upcoming tournament in the land of Esteros, the prize for which was a pair of powerful artifacts. Dorrei offered to compete on behalf of the Squids, but at that moment a lone Shrimper appeared within the city. The Shrimper intended to destroy the Squidadel, the Squid's seat of government, which would throw the nation into chaos and render it unable to defend itself from a full-scale invasion. Dorrei and Cale were able to work together to stop the machine, but it ended up costing the Illusive Squid her life.
Weapon: Trident, harpoon-bow
Powers: Shapeshifting
Homeland: Esteroceania
Career: Former Illusive Squid
Other: Recently risen from the dead by Hioma's blood magic.

Name: Olaf Olafson
Title: Olaf LXXXIII (Olaf the 83rd)
Age: mid-50’s
Description/Appearance/Personality: Olaf the 83rd is the current warlord of the Vikings, and previous Warlord of Centros before being driven out by the Mechanist King. He loves him some battle and mead. And wenches. And song. And some more wenches and mead. And battle. I’m not sure what else you were expecting. He claims to be directly descended from Tiberius Septic, the First Viking, however, as his surname is “Olafson” and not “Septicson” this is doubtful.
His strength is mighty, but his beard is mightier. His armor is stained with the blood of his enemies, and his axe the blood of a few of his friends. The stories say he never removes his helm because if he did, his brains would spill out – having taken one too many knocks to the noggin. He and his men do not own horses, preferring to charge their victims head on in the legendary berserker rage – or a drunken stupor, depending on the day.
All of Northyros is his for the taking, he believes. After his failure in Centros, he has contented himself to take of the frozen tubers of the north. The only opponents he has ever found worthy are the Magisters, and after his first conflict with them, he somehow procured mana-draining runes and adorned his men’s armor with them. They don’t negate magic completely, but evens the field.
Also, just because he is a bad guy, doesn’t mean he is ‘bad guy’.
Weapon: His battle axe, Jarnbjorn, is supposedly enchanted with a “kill-anything” spell
Powers: Aside from extreme skill in pillaging and unparalleled accordion skills, none to speak of.
Homeland: Northyros; specifically, a rocky island to the north called Garrif’s Bone
Alignment: True Neutral
Other: Yar har, fiddly dee – do what you want cuz a Viking is free! You are a Viking!

Name: Vi’irinox Omega
Age: 13
Description/Appearance/Personality: Vi’irinox Omega’s family lived and worked the fields around the walled city of Snowdown. Despite magic not manifesting in his family for several generations, Vi’irinox began displaying an aptitude for the mystic arts at an early age and was whisked away to train under the Magisters. While there, he discovered a special affinity for summoning magic, an art few practiced anymore. After just a few years of studying, his family’s farm was visited by the Death-Mammoths, which wiped them all out. He was forbidden from attending the makeshift funerals for fear that the Mammoths would return and stomp out the last member of the family, as they are wont to do. Since then, Vi’irinox has devoted much of his free time to researching and attempting to understand the mysterious death-dealers.
He wears the traditional robes of an apprentice mage: black with a colored emblem denoting his particular area of expertise (violet, for summoning). Beyond that, his hair is silvery-gray hair (a trait most of the men in his family share) and his eyes a bright green. He’s relatively short, only reaching about five feet tall, and wears round glasses that seem too big for his face.
Vi’irinox is serious about his studies; without a family to go back to, he literally has nothing else. As a result, that seriousness tends to carry over into other aspects of his life, to the point where other mages and magisters think him humorless and a stickler for the rules. He does have a healthy respect for rules and isn’t one to disobey them. He is often too serious, though – that part is true.
Weapon: none
Powers: Summoning magic, Conjuration magic, some elemental magic
Homeland: Northyros
Career: Magical student
Alignment: Lawful Good
Other: His favorite summon is Tristezza the Frozen Warrior.

Name: Samantha Valentine
Age: 28
Description/Appearance/Personality: Samantha disappeared about eight years ago, while she was in college. Suddenly, she stopped attending classes and did nothing but pound away on her computer, according to her roommates. She also left behind a few cryptic papers, going on about something called a “universal coding language” which devolved into seeming nonsense and a language that couldn’t be deciphered. No trace of her was ever found. Her work was confiscated by the government and none of it ever reached the Valentine family, although Samantha did make one final phone call to Jeff, claiming she “cracked the code of the world” before vanishing forever. He never told anyone about the call and no one ever found out.
Since then, Samantha has indeed stumbled upon an underlying universal language she termed the World Code – it is a complex combination of hundreds of languages, genetics, binary, and several others that had been previously undiscovered. By accessing it, one could alter the fundamental makeup of the universe. While on the run, she constructed prototypes of what would later become the TUCAN, OCD, and MANHANDS, and used them to access the World Nexus, and began to travel across the universe, collecting data on World Code and refining her devices.
Sam always wears thick-rimmed glasses that double as OCD and has recently been keeping her hair long, after years of short hair. Although both are naturally brown, she altered their color to make her hair bright blue, and her eyes a deep violet. She alters her clothes to fit the situation, although when alone, she favors a baggy hoddie and jeans. She also may have altered her physical appearance just a little bit to trim some areas.
She can be easy-going like her brother, but in less of a “I don’t care” kind of way, and more in a “Let’s see what happens” kind of way. She flaunts any rule she is confronted with, sometimes for better reason that because she feels like it.
Weapon: TUCAN: Trans-Universal Codex and Network Device – A device specially designed by Samantha to store any and all knowledge collected from her studies of the World Code. It also serves as a communication device with the ability to access any known method of communication, and with the capacity to hack most others.
OCD: Ocular Code Decryptor – A device that can view and decrypt World Code in real time, cleverly disguised as a pair of ordinary glasses. The OCD links wirelessly with the TUCAN. Theoretically, they could always be turned on, but doing so obscures normal vision. Sam once wore her OCD turned on for a full year and almost forgot what the world really looked like.
MANHANDS: Manual-Access Network-Hacking and All Normality Deconstructing System – This is the device that allows the wearer to directly access the World Code of an area. In combination with the OCD and TUCAN the MANHANDS allows a user to view, input, delete, and rewrite any World Code that the user can decrypt. As more complex actions require the writing of more code (and thus more time) it is linked to the TUCAN and can quickly “copy and paste” section of code stored in the TUCAN’s memory. The MANHANDS project a holographic dropdown menu from which she can access various options such as “hack”, “decrypt”, “copy”, and “paste”.
Powers: Nothing superhuman, although she could, in theory, write herself some powers – but she has not done so
Homeland: Earth
Career: Wanderer; student of the universe
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Other: After Wikipeede erased the World Nexus, Sam was more or less stuck in Cardinalos. After traveling a bit, she wound up in Blackspire. Believing her to be a student of conjuration magic, they have allowed her to study in their library for the last year or so. She's even gotten herself an apprentice by way of Vi'irinox Omega, whom she likes to call "Vi'ir".

Name: Unknown
Alias: Twisted Gambit
Age: Also unknown, but probably late 30s-early 40s
Description: Twisted Gambit was born in Wessos before the Cataclysm that reduced it to a barren wasteland. He inherited his family’s ability to capture powers and seal them in Spirit Cards. As part of his training, he was sent out at the tender age of 10 to build his repertoire of abilities. It was during this outing that Wessos was destroyed. He was off somewhere else during that and survived. Not one to cry over spilt milk, he adopted a new name and set off being an adventurer or whatever.
Appearance: He’s 2cool4school. He wears a Badass Longcoat and a Nice Hat. Also some sick facial hair. He’s rather short but in great shape.
Personality: He’s got that whole ‘lone ranger’ thing going on, so while he’s aloof and gruff, he’s pretty nice deep down and usually stops to help people. Of course, his powers sometimes get him into all sorts of shenanigans.
Powers: Twisted Gambit has collected 52 unique powers over the course of his life and sealed them away in Magic Spirit Cards. However, because his cards are semi-sentient, they have to be randomly drawn – resulting in interesting results.
Homeland: Wessos
Career: Vagabond; spoof on two fictional characters
Other: As some of his powers enhances specific abilities, he carries with him with necessary items to make those cards useful, i.e. an armblade and some creepy dolls

Name: Community Chest
Age: Around 24
Description/Appearance/Personality: Community is the latest in a long line of Card Masters from the Chest Family. She is above average height for a woman of her age, has crimson red hair and frighteningly pale skin, and never goes outside without a long trenchcoat. She wears a rather bland pair of glasses not because of any problems with her vision, but because the eyes are the windows into the soul. And, well, she doesn't have one of those. At an early age, the firstborn of the main branch of the Chest Family has his or her soul destroyed so that they can make full use of their powers.
This lack of a soul has left Community with diminished empathy and the inability to form meaningful relationships outside of those needed to fulfill her role as heiress to the Chest Family, a role with duties ranging from assassinating political enemies to tracking down magical artifacts. Generally, she finds these tasks relatively simple to complete, but her tendency to underreact to situations can occasionally cause her trouble. Community hasn't produced genuine laughter since her childhood and, although she has long since forgotten what it is like to have one, she recognizes the importance of the soul. She secretly endeavors to recover her own while maintaining a facade of loyalty to her family. From ancient family texts, she has discovered that her soul can be restored if she becomes Queen of Games, a title that can only be earned by winning a certain number of tournaments (of any kind) or defeating a certain number of tournament winners. She attempted to enter the 193rd bi-monthly D.W.A.R.F. tournament for this reason, but was turned away by Bruce, the almost Shark Lord. After discovering that another group managed to sneak in while she was denied entry, she made it her mission to track them down and defeat them to become one step closer to her goal.
To the extent that she needs to for Chest Family errands, she does her best to mimic normal human emotion. During extended conversations, she can occasionally lapse into states of reservation or melancholy. During battle, however, her soulless ruthlessness and fierce determination take full control.
Weapon: Cards. As a Card Master, Community is the chosen bearer of her family's set of 32 cards, each storing a unique ability. On her right arm, she wields a mechanical arm bracer that can store her deck of cards and eject one at random, as calling for a specific one (according to her family's rules) can lead to catastrophic consequences. She also carries around a knife, a gun, and a few other gadgets as well. Really, if you're wearing a trenchcoat and aren't concealing a bunch of weapons, you're doing something horribly wrong.
Powers: As aforementioned, each of Community's 32 cards grants her a different ability. Well, a couple are repeats; it's been said that the original Chest Patriarch was a lazy wizard who couldn't be bothered to give individual abilities to each one. Each card is powerful in its own right (although several are rather absurd; Great Great Great Grandpa Chest was crazy) and some can unleash particularly devastating combo abilities if Community is lucky enough to get the cards in the right order. Magic powers aside, she is also decent in hand to hand combat and has won many a knife fight in her younger days. She is fairly good at lying and manipulating people - side effects from her soul being absent - but these skills are slightly weakened because she has yet to fully master emotion mimicry. Finally, having dealt with the random of nature of her power for well over fifteen years (and having drawn terrible abilities at inopportune moments many times before), she has become rather adaptable and can do well in any situation.
Homeland: Centros, maybe.
Career: Heiress, huntress, assassin
Other: She used to play board games a lot during her childhood and is rather good at them, even those that heavily rely on random chance. Between trying to get back her soul and doing Chest Family business, board games are her second favorite activity.

Name: Uno Momento Alias: Papercuts McGee, Bandito Burrito Age: some Spanish number Description: Once a good natured child, Uno started committing his first string of crimes at the tender age of 11 when his family could not afford presents for his older sister's Quinceañera. He was caught during the party, having forgotten to remove the security tags from the outfits he stole from Rue 66. Which, in Mexoss, are basically just stapled bottle caps. He was brought to the police commissioner and given a choice. Being a corrupt official, he offered Uno the opportunity to be pardoned for his shoplifting if he would agree to join the gambling cartel. A bit reluctantly, he agreed and spent the next couple of decades rising through the ranks of the fixed casino rings as an unbeatable black jack dealer. He ripped off dignitaries, celebrating honeymooners, AND EVEN CHILDREN. CHILDREN YOU GUYS. BECAUSE MEXOSS IS SHADY AND DOESN'T HAVE AN AGE RESTRICTION FOR GAMBLING. HE TOOK THEIR PIGGY BANK MONEY, MAN. One day, an extremely prominent (but pretty unlucky) treasure hunter lost his entire estate at Uno's table, and offered him an exchange. In return for wiping his debt clean, the adventurer promised to give him a deck of 108 fabled cards that he found in Egypt. They were of no use to him personally because he never figured out what the cards were for or how to play the game, but assumed that Uno would be able to make use of them at the casino. He took the deal at the cost of losing the biggest commission the casino had ever seen and has since been on the run from the Mexoss gambling cartel with the help of his playing cards. Appearance: Personality: Pretty devilish, hates anyone named "John" or "Wayne", carries his cards in a homemade card bandolier, and has a weakness for teenage girls (because they remind him of his sister, you pervs) and broken and culturally offensive Spanish banter. Powers: a finite amount of powers that are attached to his 108 cards that he draws one at a time at random, mostly for the sport of it. Homeland: Mexoss Career: former gambling cartel lord, now on the run and taking what shady jobs he can find. Other:

Name: Unknown Alias: Jack O. Spades Age: Looks to be in his late 20s/early 30s Description: If two people were to ask Jack about his past, they'd get two different answers. If all of his stories were to be considered true, he was born in every country in Cardinalos (including the underwater ones and the flying ones) at least once per year for a span of roughly fifteen years. He has also been everything from a janitor to a kangaroo wrestler, and has even been a space bounty hunter once or twice. The only thing that's consistent between his tales is that he's a master thief, with his greatest accomplishment being the time he managed to swipe an old tome from a group of scavengers attempting to flee from Wessos before they were caught. The book detailed a technique that was apparently used by members of a particular family to capture and seal powers within items called "Spirit Cards." He had also recovered a deck of these cards, and discovered that he somehow possessed the ability to use them. Following the teachings of whatever idiot was foolish enough to detail his family's secrets in writing, he has achieved somewhat of a mastery of the Cards. Now, he uses them to steal increasingly valuable items. Appearance: Medium-length blonde hair, gray eyes, and a large amount of stubble on his chin. He wears a green bucket hat and a black coat, and typically wears a simple, dark-green shirt and pants underneath. He also frequently wears flip-flops. Personality: Very laid-back, and also a compulsive liar. And a little bit of a kleptomaniac. Powers: He has 54 Spirit Card powers, but for some reason he can never seem to draw the one that he wants. Homeland: At this point, it's questionable if he even knows where he's actually from. Career: Master Thief Theme Song: Pleasures of Combat

Short History: Welkin was born a viking, and has lived in Northyros his entire life. About two years ago, however, an accident left him with a power he could neither understand nor control. The other vikings feared and despised him, believing that this power had turned him into one of their greatest enemies. Out of respect for one of their own they did not kill him, but forced the young man into exile. Rather than leaving his homeland, Welkin went into hiding. He had gained basic survival skills as part of his viking upbringing, and as the months passed he learned how to move around without being spotted. Additionally, he learned how to control his unwanted power. With his skills and power, he intends to try to find out more about what happened to him and ultimately rid himself of that power. -
Name: Victor Hill
Age: 30s
Description: A tall, pale man. Gaunt with sunken eyes and cheeks. His eyes are pale, but seem to change color depending on who he’s speaking to. He has thinning hair of a similar colorless nature.
Victor is quite the hanger-on, never one with his own ideas. He’s the kind of guy who instinctively latches on to the leader of any particular group and becomes a loyal follower. He has a penchant for switching loyalties, so his zealous support has very little, if any, to do with actual belief; likely it’s more a desire to be associated with power.
Weapon: None
Abilities: Maw – the ability to create wide mouths of any size and apparently infinite depth. He can devour anything. For his part, he is never hungry, but is never full, either.
Homeland: Nugget Hill, Wessos

Name: Rolin Rosco James
Age: 300 years old but only appears to be in his late 40’s
Description/Appearance/Personality: A worn down man who has seen too many of his companions die. The sun has bleached his hair far lighter than is should be for a man of his age. Rolin’s hair is normally seen in a brown nappy mess, but normally he just places his cowboy hat on his head and keeps moving. His beard has patches of grey and kept in in disarray much like his hair. His skin has been tanned dark from all the harsh days in the sun. Rolin stands around 6’2” and for a man of his age seems to be in pretty decent shape. He is a grizzled, mean, and bitter man who is haunted by him past. Rolin generally sticks to his old desperado look: leather chaps, jeans, cowboy boots, you know. Rolin lost his left arm on one of his younger adventures, but it has since been replaced with a mechanical arm. He tries to cover it up at all times; “too many bitter memories” is his normal response when asked about it. Think an Roland Descain from the Dark Tower movie. Now he spends most of his days drinking and waiting to die knowing that it will never happen.
Weapon: Two six shooter pistols, his buck knives, and his arm.
Powers: Super human proficiency and accuracy with pistols and rifles. At some point he might upgrade his arm if needed.
Homeland: Wessos
Career: Retired Desperado

Name: Desperado Jones
Age: 28
Description/Appearance/Personality: Desperado Jones is a young man with a lot to prove. Standing tall with slicked back blond hair and small goatee with green eyes that he often squints to appear tougher, Jones attempts to appear rougher than he actually is. Jones is largely more inclined to run than stand and fight though his aim with a pistol is nothing to laugh at. He wears your typical Wessos attire of leather chaps, leans and a simple shirt under his black duster. He wanders Wessos playing the role of part time gun for hire, guard or really, whatever job comes his way. Lately, he's been hired to investigate disappearances around the settlements of lower Wessos. No one knows where he originally hails from, and Jones keeps his past a secret (largely just to look mysterious).
Weapon: A simple boot knife and his revolver pistol.
Powers: Inhuman endurance and stamina and a startling ability to shrug off wounds.
Homeland: Wessos
Career: Desperado
