Premise The Land of Blades is a nation that has always been beset by war and violence. Two generations ago, the land was finally unified under a mysterious figure known only as the Blade Emperor. Aided by his twelve Blade Lords, the Emperor established an iron-fisted dominion. However, paying tribute to the land's history, the Emperor did not outlaw street fighting, provided they were conducted honorably and with respect to non-combatants. Of course, the unification was followed by a rapid militarization and subsequent annexation of large tracts of lands that belonged to the Land of Flowers, the Land of Storms, and the Land of Bridges...
Information As you can see, the world constructed so far is rather small - and not so fleshed out. Well, that's what we're here to do. We're going on an adventure. We're going to go see the world and maybe save it (or destroy it). The reason so little is established beforehand is that I want this to be an exercise in cooperative, real-time world-building. Whatever all of us decide exists in this world, exists. Of course, this won't just be one long National Geographic field trip. We're going to go fight things (probably each other!) and do some hero stuff!
Rules 1. Be cool 2. This works like improv comedy - whatever is said to have happened or exist is then assumed to be. I'll have the final word on 'canon' information, but I don't foresee much vetoing. 3. This is usually where one might say 'no OP characters' buuuuut...eeehhh. Can you write a good/fair fight scene with a minor deity? If so, go for it. 4. You are allowed as many characters as you can effectively maintain. 5. Other standard rules of Creative Freedom RPG still apply 6. These rules may be amended by me at any time 7. Be cool
Characters The way it's come to be in LHC is that there are three classifications for characters: Player Characters, Boss Characters, and NPCs.
Player Characters are the standard 'I'm going to RP this guy' and will require the following sheet to be filled out and submitted here in the OOC for approval.
Player Characters Name: (and any aliases or titles as needed) Age: (include apparent versus actual if applicable) Race: (if non-human, please explain the race, unless it's something like a standard fantasy race) Gender: (does not have to fit a male/female binary if you wish) Appearance: (short description and/or picture if you wish; I don't use pics, but you are free to) Bio: (something about who they are and what they're doing; if you plan on having pieces of their backstory revealed as we go along, i.e. they don't know or it's a OH SHIT moment for us, then...well, we'll figure something out) Abilities: (may include any particularly noteworthy skills they've acquired, magic, etc.) Weapons: (what are they gonna fite with?) Other: (anything I didn't include a space for that you deem important; I like to use this space for Theme Songs and Alignments :3)
Boss Characters are, well, characters designed to be fought by one or more of the Player Characters. Like PCs they have a sheet to be filled out; unlike PCs, Boss Characters do no require approval before entering the RP, and actually are encouraged to be posted first in the RP along with the introduction of the Boss. tl;dr Boss Characters can arise at any moment!
Boss Characters Name: Obvious HP: An arbitrary number like 999/999 used to denote the character's health. Keeping up with HP is not require or encouraged MP: Same as above, but for magic Abilities: quick description of what kinds of attacks and powers the character has. Details aren't necessary because it will be revealed in the RP. The OOC thread can be used to clarify.
NPCs, or Non-Player Characters are more or less what it says on the tin. Minor characters that aren't really the main characters, but side characters that have personalities and pop up relatively frequently.
NPC Name: Obvs. Description: What do they look like and how do they act? Role: What are they doing in the RP? Locked: Y/N (can they be controlled by other players (unlocked) or are they reserved for you only (locked))
And of course, because of how we operate, the status of the characters can change. PCs and NPCs can become Bosses, Bosses become PCs, or even PCs become NPCs. Just remember that a status change like that requires a new sheet.

Major Events - The characters arrived in and around Stormfront, in the Land of Blades - They fought some guards and ran around - An incidental bank robbery caused the appearance of Depositron, the transforming Capitalist robot - After being tripped and falling into a fissure, Deposition transoformed into a jet and began bombarding Stormfront with gold bars - Despositron was destroyed by his master, Dow Jones, after asking for a handout to win the battle - Dow Jones initiated a new battle, but allowed the characters time to get to know one another - The battle resumed, using his Economic Magic, but he was defeated by brute force - Meanwhile, the Nightman began building an army and awakened Horror - With Dow Jones defeated, Stormfront was beset by the Storm Riders, a liberation movement/biker gang - Deciding the player characters could help, Vespi, the leader, invited them to join her at The Abandoned Warehouse Bar-Meta Joke - The Nightman lead Sark and Horror in an invasion of a nearby (W)Hooters; slaughtered the owl-sirens waitressing there - The 'heroes' decided to split up into two groups, one to infiltrate the Crosswind's castle, and the other to distract him - Infiltration: Geirhald, Haley, Dorian, Ephantus, Izaak, Kayla, Spirit - Interference: Vespi, Leske, The Dayman, Stratus, Scarlet, Cale, Batholemew, Pullio, Selene - Villains: The Nightman, Horror, Sark, Nebrious - Other: Anastasia, Hakuzo, Alias - The Interference team encountered and defeated the first miniboss: Lionel, the Superpowered Farmboy - After Lionel was defeated, a second miniboss appeared: Xienghen Agetev, out to avenge her friend, Mhenlo - She was defeated rather anticlimactically by Koko - The third miniboss, Sailor Solar appeared, quickly revealing himself to be a future version of the Dayman - Elsewhere, the Infiltration Team encountered Haley's sister and abandoned her to advance
Will be adding the rest up to the end of the CF addition of the story.

Locations The Land of Blades – The imperialistic nation that has recently grabbed large tracts of land from the neighboring Lands of the Storms and Flowers. Currently ruled by the Blade Emperor and governed by his twelve Blade Lords.
The Land of Storms – The location of the so-far-only major location, Stormfront, home of the Atmosfaeries and Elementals. No official government is known, as the Atmosfaerie and Elementals are fairly insular people.
The Land of Flowers – A neighbor country to both the Land of Blades and Land of Storms, famous for its vast flower plains.
The Land of Obsidian – The home of Project: Midnight. The Land of Obsidian is famous for its great Obsidian Teeth, a mountain range of jagged obsidian, the remnants of a large ancient volcano. Very little is known about this land.
Arumia – A secluded island, home to the mysterious Tainted Ones.
The Land of Stone and Sand – Not much is known about this desert land, other than it is ruled by a theocratic pharaoh. It is located on the far side of the Land of Obsidian from the Land of Blades
Peoples
Humans – You know. Humans.
Elves – You know. Elves.
Half-elves – You know. Half-elves.
Tainted Ones – Humanoid monsters with a core of writhing, tentacly flesh. They have sharp canines, pointed ears, and markings on parts of their body while in a humanoid form. Some can unleash a powerful monstrous transformation.
Lizardmen – A reptilian people, of which Alias is the only known member. He seems to have originated somewhere in the Land of Flowers, and may have been the result of some kind of bioengineering experiment.
Elementals - Creatures that spontaneously form from latent magical and life energies, mix with any of the elements of the world. They do not seem to form with any knowledge of the world.
K’orm – An extinct, technologically advanced people who once populated the world. They melded their collective consciousness into the machine-mind Ephantus, who became corrupted upon making contact with an Outer Being.
Outer Beings – Unknown life-forms possibly existing on another plane of existence. Ephantus is the only known being to ever make contact, and even that brief link was enough to corrupt the K’orm gestalt.
Gillmen - Amphibious humanoids with turquoise skin and webbed feet/hands. They also appear to have the ability to spit venom at short range.
Pseudo-Dragons - Small dragons with the ability to shift into a small humanoid form. They are known to be curious and mischievous.
Demons - Dark creatures attuned to any of various 'planes' of energy.
Atmosfaerie - Beings that spontaneously form from the elements, like Elementals. Unlike Elementals, Atmosfaerie are formed from weather events coming into contact with particularly dense pockets of magic. They are created with knowledge of the world, but generally live short lives.
Demigods - The offspring of gods and any mortal race (although humans are known to be particularly receptive to god-boning).
The World
All the aforementioned lands exist within one world, the Land of Lands, named for the primary naming conventions for countries. The geography for the immediate area has so far gone undefined, but some facts are known: The Lands of Storms and Flowers border the Land of Blades. As well, the Land of Flowers appears to border the Land of Storms. The Land of Obsidian lies somewhat farther way from the Land of Blades, as does the Land of Stone and Sand.
The Land of Lands is a spherical world that orbits a star, much like our Earth. It has also recently been visited by a number of trans-universal Travelers, including the Dayman, Leske, and Izaak, meaning there are other universes out there that also host life. As well, there may exist other dimensions where such beings as the Outer Ones exist.
Boss Battles
Depositron - A transforming bank that we fought after the Nightman robbed it and triggered the security system, which happened to be the bank itself. It was only defeated by Dow Jones after the battle went on for too long
Dow Jones - An Economancer (economics wizard) who built Depositron and trained him in the ways of the Market. Dow Jones destroyed Depositron when the latter asked for a handout. Dow Jones was defeated the old-fashioned way: by a bunch of characters all attacking him at once. However, he disappeared in a poof of burned bank notes after whispering "Soul Mortgage" so, we may not have seen the last of him.
Bartholemew - A battle with the demon-thing was initiated by Haley in an ill-advised search for some catharsis in her life, just before Dow Jones arrived. The battle ended almost before it began, and he and Haley have since reconciled to a degree.
Science
Science and technology in the Land of Lands has reached a point where fully-sentient transforming robots can be built with seeming little difficulty. Ephantus is a machine hive-mind, although that was built long ago. There are also motorcycles.
Magic
Magic seems to be roughly equivalent in strength to technology, demonstrated by nature magic, healing prayers, and gun magic. Magic rituals, symbols, and incantations have been shown to channel magic, but don't appear to be necessary for casting.
Other Powers
Demonic powers don't appear to be connected to magic, nor does Sark's vampiricism, nor Horror's various 'monster powers'. Pullio's powers derive from his wargod father, and so don't appear to be magical, either. Haley's invisibility and Dorian's state of being were created by combining both science and magic.
Bonus! Project: Midnight
What is Project: Midnight? Well, Project: Midnight began life as a small, underfunded government research team. Its aim was to research some relatively unknown facets of fringe science and black magic. Despite their low budget, P:M made contact with Ephantus, the corrupted K'orm machine hive. For unknown reasons, Ephantus channeled money from its various servitor bodies into P:M. With the backing of an insane ancient machine, Project: Midnight quickly outgrew the government charter that founded it. The developed advanced weaponry and effectively seceded from the Land of Obsidian, able to keep the military at bay.
Experiments from P:M facilities resulted in people like Haley, Dorian, and Scarlet, while they allied with and studied other beings like Horror and Bartholemew. P:M recruited a large international staff, and wormed its influence into the higher ups in the Land of Blades, promising power and money.
The Land of Obsidian officially shut down Project: Midnight when it became clear that they had abandoned their original charter, creating freelance soldiers hired out to the highest bidder. For almost a decade, P:M mercenaries loomed over the heads of all the Land of Lands. Finally, the Obsidian government decided enough was enough and began an aggressive black-ops campaign against them.
Around that time, Ephatnus left the Project to pursue other goals, and the enigmatic Director assumed full control of the project, just in time for the Black War. Both sides employed guerrilla warfare and terrorism against the other, until, nine months into the fighting, the Director unleashed the Void Wave Bomb, an unstable, untested black science weapon against the government. When it went off, thousands were instantly erased from existence, leaving the Land of Obsidian an empty, quiet land.
In the wake of the VWB, less successful Experiments were recaptured and locked away for further testing - or terminated if they proved too difficult. Some, like Haley and Scarlet, managed to get away, while others like Horror were forgotten about. That occurred some months ago, and it appeared as if the Land of Obsidian and Project: Midnight were both eliminated by the Void Wave Bomb. However, it appears as if the Director has survived somewhere, and is still pulling Project: Midnight strings...The Nightman has since taking psuedocontrol over Project Midnight at their base and is using their technology to fuel his own endeavors.

Went ahead and moved this over. Name: Izaak Bezaleel Age: 27 Race: Human Gender: Male Appearance:He used to wear robes like most other mages he knew, but he felt they got in the way. Now he prefers his combat leathers due to his usual in-your-face combat style with his daggers. Bio: Izaak was born in Schwarzheide, in the Frontier, to a single mother who had an interest in elemental magic as well as arcane magic. She taught him many basic elemental and arcane spells, but his main talents revolved around elemental magic. He still uses a few arcane spells to supplement his combat abilities. During his travels, he met up with a choramancer named Magnus who led a group of people through the multiverse with one goal: finding the Mage of the Beginning. He eventually found a spell that allowed him to cross the multiverse as Magnus and the Mage can, but he is only able to transport himself. After the events of MC3, Izaak decided to travel the multiverse in search of new knowledge as well as to escape the events that happened during the final battle against the Celestials, eventually finding himself in a biker bar in Stormfront. Abilities: Elemental and arcane magic, with the one spell for universe hopping; melee combat skills with dual daggers Weapons: Staff (conjured with arcane magic; used to channel some of his spells with as an amplifier) and twin crystalline daggers (received from Sorin [MC3] as a parting gift) Other: Izaak is originally from the MageCraft 3 story. He's more along the lines of Neutral Good in terms of alignment, and also gay.

(I don't feel like doing back to CF)
Name: Haley Cavandish AKA Windborne Haley
Age: 27
Race: Human (invisible)
Gender: Female
Appearance: She's been invisible for so long, she's forgotten. Nowadays, she wears nothing but cloth wraps over her entire body (no clothes underneath that), a Badass Longcoat over that, as well as a wide-brimmed cowboy had that usually hides where her eyes would be.
Bio: Haley was recruited at a young age by Project: Midnight to be the latest in a long line of manufactured supersoldiers. Through a combination of black magic and fringe science, she was made into an invisible sniper, the perfect assassin. When P:M was shut down (and then nearly destroyed) she was one of the handful of experiments that escaped the destruction. Since then, she's been searching for a way to reverse her invisibility.
Abilities: Enhanced strength, endurance, proficiency in hand to hand combat, expert marksman
Weapons: Two six-shooter revolvers and a sniper rifle, both hooked up to a quantum-hammerspace arsenal stocked with seemingly infinite bullets.
Other: Haley befriended another PM experiment, Dorian, a boy who was trapped on the opposite side of reflective surfaces, a mirror-world, from which he cannot escape. However, the watch which he usually communicated to Haley with was stolen recently.

Post by Calefrun on Dec 15, 2014 18:07:05 GMT -5
I was about to do that, but I apparently had them saved.
Name: Cale Efrun
Age: He can't remember, but he appears to be in his late tweens or early twenties
Race: Human(?)
Gender: Male
Appearance: Fairly average-looking in terms of height and build. He has medium-length silver hair and light blue eyes. Though he does periodically change his clothes, his most common outfit consists of a black leather overcoat, a white or gray shirt, blue or brown pants, and leather boots. (For the YS crew, however you imagined ALR's Cale, this guy basically looks exactly the same)
Bio: Cale woke up in Stormfront alongside his twin sister, Kayla, without any memory aside from knowing his name, his sister's name, and that she is his twin. He believes that he was named after a relative, though he cannot be certain. Though he and Kayla investigated around town to try and uncover clues as to their identities, none of the citizens of Stormfront had ever seen them before. Only a day has passed since then.
Abilities: If he has any noteworth abilities, he doesn't remember what they are. Weapons: When he awoke, Cale found himself in possession of a longsword, a short sword, a dagger, a longbow, and a revolver, as well as the the knowledge of how to use all of them.
Other: True Neutral
Name: Kayla Efrun
Age: Same as Cale
Race: Human(?)
Gender: Female
Appearance: Like her brother, she has an average phisique, silver hair (though hers is a good bit longer than Cale's), and light blue eyes. Her attire changes more commonly then her brother's, but in general she also prefers darker colors. Bio: Same as Cale
Abilities: In the day that she's spent in Stormfront, Kayla has determined that she's capable of using magic. She does not yet know specifically what types or how powerful her abilities actually are. Additionally, she is extremely agile and is skilled at sneaking.
Weapons: Like Cale, she found herself in possession of numerous items upon waking up. Though they all seem familiar to her, she is unable to remember what any of them actually do.
Other: Neutral Good
Name: Sark
Age: Appears to be aroundd 30, but in actuality is thousands of years old
Race: Vampire
Gender: Male
Appearance: Sark is a large man/undead, standing at around 6'5" and being incredibly muscular. He has long, flowing purple hair and relatively feminine facial features. The only things he normally wears are a headwrap and a loincloth
Bio: Sark has existed for so long, there are some who believe that he has been around since the beginning of the world. Most of his life is spent hibernating- he only awakens once every thousand years, during which time he hunts and devours living beings to increase his own power. The purpose of his hibernation is to allow the world to repopulate, as hunting all creatures to extinction would mean an end to his food source.
Recently, he awoke within the Project: Midnight facility, having apparently been studied for the purpose of creating more beings like him. He discovered a spell which had been in development, which had the potential to bridge the gap between different universes. The spell was incomplete, so he made it his goal to finish it.
Abilities: Super strength, vampirism, regenration, immortality, ability to change body shape, and ability to extend blades from arms and legs
Weapons: Read above
Other: I wouldn't really call him evil, per se, as he's just doing what he has to in order to survive, buuuuuut...

Thought I’d transfer just for reference. Also, good lord, it took me forever to sift through the other OOC to find these. Name: Scarlet Carson Age: 24 (she's probably older, but can't recall the number) Race: Demon (shadow and viper) Gender: Female Appearance: Her attire consists mostly of black, crimson, gold, and sometimes silver. Rarely anything else. She tends to be mostly covered. Scarlet stands at Five feet, three inches. She is slender Her hair is jet black, and she tends to mess with the length to her liking at random intervals. The color is something she can't change. Her eyes are crimson colored, and the pupils are slitted when she is changed into a viper. the color cannot be changed. She has tattoos on her back and on the back of her hand, and fangs- the tattoos are normally covered up, but the fangs she can only modify slightly Bio: Scarlet has a very dry sense of humor, and tends to be sarcastic. She is cynical, and lacks moral values. She's a little lost in this world, trying to find an upright job, but getting mixed up in all the wrong places anyway. At first glance, she appears to be rather antisocial, but it's mostly because she is very slow to trust others. She's a bit of a coward, but will fight for who or what she cares about if she's sure the same courtesy would be done for her. Likes: Very few things, actually, but the dark, rain, and dark chocolate could be on the list Dislikes: THE COLD, people, sticky situations, and turnips. About three years ago, Scarlet woke up, alone, in an abandoned shack. She was badly injured and half-starved, but had no recollection of how she'd gotten to be that way. A bad electrical storm raged outside, and the association of thunder to this event has rendered Scarlet astraphobic. From here, she began drifting. No history, no destination. She has picked up a few skills here and there from her travels, learning new trades just to get by. More than once, she's found herself tangled up in the affairs of others who would cause trouble. The pay wasn't bad... But the situations themselves left much to be desired. Abilities: Scarlet is attuned to the plane of shadow. Being said, she can use dark based magic and manipulate shadows. This can mean anything from a crackle of dark energy to sap the life from an opponent, to moving things by their shadows (she's not so good at doing it to people), to sinking into her own shadow and reappearing in from another as a sort of pseudo teleportation... It's called shadow-meld. Additionally, she is able to fully or partially shift her form into that of a viper. This allows her to move stealthily below an opponent's line of vision, enhances her senses of sound, smell, and touch, and is especially great for when she doesn't want to wait in line. Half shifting provides her with a coat of scales that acts as a mild armor (but is not failsafe) and, in addition to heightened senses, allows her to fight with her fangs, which have the viper's poison. Unfortunately, this second form has caused her to be perpetually cold-blooded-- too cold temperatures cause her to be sluggish and risk falling into a coma. Otherwise, she is good with her hands, likes detail work, and is a fast learner. Weapons: Usually, Scarlet would prefer to run, rather than fight. However, she does carry a curved dagger, and is lethal on the occasion she's close enough to use it. Her magic is fairly potent, but she is more likely to use it for an escape than an attack. Scarlet is a good marksman, but lacks a bow (she's also been known to show some proficiency with throwing knives, but she doesn't have many of those either.) Other: Varying alliances. True chaotic. Name: I. R. Badd, Attorney at Evi lAge: 32 Race: Human Gender: Male Appearance: A beanpole of a man; tall and skinny. He has blond hair that is kept combed back and away from his dark brown eyes... However, he also bears an exaggerated "evil mustache" (apparently this is just one of those handlebar whatsits) that is jet black and blatantly fake. He wears a brown suit jacket and pants, with a plain white shirt beneath, as well as a plethora of hideously obnoxious bow ties for every occasion. Bio: His history is unimportant. All we need to know is that he is in a fierce rivalry with his twin sister for who is the worse attorney... Better, in evil terms, it's all very confusing. But they're lawyers, so that's to be expected. Abilities: Bad grammar Weapons: His evil laugh, and to some extent, his mustache. Other: Comic Relief The evil laugh: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP1eaR6EpcoName: I. M. Badd, Attorney at Evil Age: 32 Appearance: She is also tall and slender, the identical twin of I. R. Badd. Her blond hair is pulled into a high ponytail. She also has a painfully fake mustache, as part of her rivalry with her brother. She wears a navy blue suit jacket and skirt over a plain white blouse. The unfortunate sibling rivalry has resulted in her attempting to outdo her brother's hideous taste in bow ties, so expect some sort of vomit-inducing ascot when you see her. Bio: Essentially the same as her brother. Abilities: Good (er) grammar Weapons: her gods awful ascots. Seriously guys, they're bad. Other: Comic relief Name: Koko Age: We're not sure. She looks and acts about six or seven, but insists she's a grown lady. Race: Neko Gender: Female Appearance: Look to your left, gentlemen (and ladies, if there are any here apart from me.) For Koko looks exactly like my avatar. She stands tall at three feet nothing. Bio: Koko used to work as a tour guide. But she got fired due to her abysmal people skills and abnormally short fuse. She's since been wandering the Lands, searching for rare fish to cook in her one true companion: her goldfish frying pan. She has also been known to stop at yarn shops when it's play time, or get horribly lost while chasing strange light anomalies that appear on the ground... She believes these anomalies to be either the source of all fishwisdom, or a catalyst to the end of the world. Either way, they must be stopped. Abilities: Extreme knitting, enhanced jumping height, and one hell of a swing when it comes to that damned frying pan... Weapons: Goldfish frying pan (with an extended handle for those pesky tall people), teeth and claws (but that's just barbaric), cuteness, and a temper that could possibly cause Armageddon. She also carries a collapsible tackle box that contains an equally collapsible fishing pole and her lures, as well as several different kinds of rare fish oils that are used for various medicinal and destructive purposes.

Name: Fenris Dragon-Heart
Age: 26
Race: Human, Divinely touched. He is the son of Bahamut, the god of dragons and being awesome.
Gender: Dude

Hair: Black, short on the sides and back and the top/bangs come down to his mouth. Eyes: Bright blue Skin: Pale white Tattoo: Dragon around his neck.
Bio: Born to the god of dragons Bahamut and a human mother, cause Bahamut is just a horn dog, he was left on the door step of a monastery/ orphanage at the age of 2. When he was 4 years old he stole a guitar and learned how to play it in 2 weeks, cause awesome, and when he was 5 he was taken on as the front man of a band called “Meatul” and they toured the universe, somehow. When he was 8 he had a herion addiction and a drinking problem and the next 18 years were kind of hazy. All he knows is that his band broke up and he needs a new one.
Abilities: He has the ability to play music at god like levels and blow shit up when he does. He can manipulate electricity and sound frequencies cause he’s a god damn rockstar. He has a pseudo dragon familiar named scrambles, cause why not. He has 2 chain/bondage demon friends/rodeys named Romulus and Remus that he can summon to help him fight. Also he can do a lot of drugs. A looooooot of drugs.
Weapons: A guitar made out of the hardest crystalline substance known to man. Scrambles can turn into a giant blue dragon and lightening people. And Romulus and Remus can… Bondage people. Not inappropriately. Well kind of inappropriately.
