They had been lieing there together for what seemed like an hour with the rain pouring down on them. He hadn't stirred once the whole time. He just gazed up at the sky, but his eyes were blank. Amala looked at his expresion. He seemed so calm and peaceful, but with something else there. "What are you thinking about?"
He glanced at her, smiled, than looked back up at the sky. "Just about the past and the places I've been to." He seemed to have a look of concern on his calm face.
Amala sat up and looked at his face. It was still shrouded in darkness from his hood. She could only see his mouth and the tip of his nose. "If you dwell too much on the past, then you won't have a future." She layed back down when she got no reaction. "My father told me that. I guess I didn't really live up to it, though." She sighed and remembered how long she had dwelled on the thought of her father.
"It's only natural that you would dwell on that memory so long. I'm sure many are like that, but once they know how to approach the situation, then they can go on with their lives. I guess I dwell on the past so much because I don't have a future." He chuckled to himself. "If you knew what others thought of me in other towns, you wouldn't think I had much of a future either."
Amala let the thought of other towns drift through her mind. Her town, Peregrine, was a mere travelor's town. It was located in the country of Delvin, which was a rather small, peaceful country. Many travelors past by on the way to other countries and decided to stay for a while. Delvin had any serene forests and rolling hills, but sometimes, Amala wished to see the other countries of the world. There were also many other races of people, like the water creatures of Jaladhi. She wondered if this man was known in other countries, but she couldn't look for any information without knowing the biggest detail.
Amala leaned up again and looked over him, her face over his. "Tell me your name."
The man's eyes widened and he sat up quickly, causing Amala to jump back a bit, but he had placed a hand on her shoulder. He tried to speak, but was lost for words at first. "W-why......why would you want to know......my name?"
