maybe... Wait! How about Mithos calls his group of followers "The Desians." Not his freinds that travel with him, but the half elves who look upon him as a god among men. How about it?

But then who is making the Exspheres? It doesn't strike me as likely that Mithos was the first maker of Exspheres.

Nidhogg makes the exspheres.

the group. alright, heres some postulating on Nidhogg. Its a group of various people, elves, dwarves, and what nots, who wish to rule the world. They plan to do this by creating Cruxis crystals which will essentially make them gods. They make exspheres for their security forces and their secrete army. It is rumored that the leader of Nidhogg created a special cruxis crystal that turned him into something neither human or angel. wink wink.

I like it.
Elves don't care that much, but yeah. They are funding both nations for the sake of having them destroy each other, leaving a power vacuum. the war has lasted 1000 years, because Nidhogg, with a super Exsphere (Cruxis hasn't been formed yet) is living forever and has time to kill.
They're supplying the magitechnology, unknowingly (or knowingly) drawing too much mana from the Kharlan tree.
Gaia the spirit of the earth Ratatosk and the other summon spirits are at a loss of what t do.

I just beat this last night (for the 5th of 6th time) and realized something: Mithos never stops being the hero. Even Lloyd realizes that. At the end he just sort of gives up: "I'm tired of playing your game of good-and-evil". I also never realized that his Cruxis Crystal fuses with Lloyd's after it shatters and that's what allows for Lloyd to gain those BA wings, and call back the Great Seed. Mithos, however pissed at Lloyd he was, didn't want to see the world(s) destroyed.
Cool, huh?

i was thinking about exspheres and Cruxis Crystals.
In 4000 years, Yggdrasil only managed to make two more Cruxis Crystals: Lloyd's and Presea's. Why is this? My thoughts for this fanficare thus:
Nidhogg FOUND the original crystal (the one that transforms him into a serpent-thing) 1000 years before the Great War. It gave him supah powahs and immortality. He spent the next 1000 years trying to duplicate the crystal, but only succeeded in exspheres (itself a major accomplishment). Finally, he manages to create four exspheres like his own, less powerful, but very close.
Mithos, Martel, Kratos, and Yuan invade a Nidhogg manufacturing base. There they find the fours crystals. Knowing that they are similar to the exspheres and Nidhogg's crystal, they take them.
Sometime later, Spiritua does crazy shit and kills Martel, but takes her not-yet-named-Cruxis Crystal. Mithos uses her to spread the chruch of Martel. Eventually, Spiritua becomes at least partly taken over by Martel's soul. Mithos recognizes this, and become interested in the properties of the super-exsphere.
Mithos, Kratos, Yuan, and Spiritua/Martel defeat Nidhogg, but stumble upon his work on expsheres. Mithos takes the information with him to Derris-Kharlan. (Perhaps Derris-Kharlan was Nidhogg's base?)
Spiritua gets killed sometime, prompting Mithos to begin his generations-long breeding program to create a new body for Martel.
...Well?
I can't decide when he splits the world or when they kill Nidhogg. I know he probably makes the Eternal Sword after Martel's death, and the splitting of Sylvarant and Tethe'alla will probably be then end of the story: Mithos' final breaking point.

i'm guessing that we should have a chapter that takes place during the night and that we should mithos give us a rather revealing soliloquy, or something.

"Once upon a time, Humankind built a great empire That spanned the entire world.
But the arrival of the Elves and their magic Caused jealousy in humans, so they built great machines To use to for themselves.
The machines engulfed the world in the fires of war As two competing human nations Grappled for one thousand years.
Just when the fighting seemed fiercest, And there would be no end, A prophet told the world of a half-elven youth Who would, one day, save the world."

not according to Dawn of the New world. The world existed, but 10,000 years before Symphonia, Derrick-Kharlan arrived, bringing the Elves, the Giant Tree, and Ratatosk.

I'm working on cha 1 right now. Here's what I got:
Fresh fallen snow dampened the thunder of the army as it drew nearer the tiny, landlocked Flanoir. They had waited until the blizzard had subsided before mobilizing on the secluded village, but had it gone on any longer, Tyr would have forced his troops to move through the storm.
What a pathetic little town, Tyr thought to himself. He hated the snow, hated ice, hated anything below warm, but as coming here was his own order, he kept his gripes to himself. The Valkyries at his back, however, had no such qualms about voicing their unhappiness. Ordinarily, Tyr would have beaten the first one to complain, but due to the shitty conditions, let them complain. His army was there mainly for show, Tyr preferred fighting his opponents one-on-one. Often the challenge was accepted with a laugh – A man with one arm think he can beat me? – and he was always victorious.
In any case, the chances of Flanoir resisting his army even a little were slim: the village was tiny, the people poor and beset by frigid temperatures year-round, and any news that reached them was months out of date. Advances in technology were even slower reaching this frozen hell. Tyr allowed himself a single glance back at the magitech cannons the lumbered along with his army. A single shot would force them to submission. No one even has to die.
At the edge of town, Tyr called for his troops to halt. He paused a moment longer to allow the cannons to check their alignment before marching proudly into town. Flanoir was small enough that everyone could see the stranger from his or her home. What little activity that existed in this subzero climate ceased with the coming of Tyr.
“Attention, citizens of Flanoir! I am Tyr! I am seeking the so-named ‘Prophet of Flanoir’!” No one stirred. No one spoke. It was as though the snow had absorbed all of their voices. “Turn her over to me at once, or face the consequences.”
“Wha-What are you going to do with her?” someone asked.
“That is not any of your concern.” Tyr signaled his troops to warm up one of the cannons.
“Y-Yes it is!” The woman who spoke before stepped forward timidly. “I won’t let you see her until-ah!”
A ball of rainbow energy arced over the sleepy town. Everyone shut his or her eyes as its light reflected off the snow, not wishing to go blind. When Tyr blinked his eyes open, the woman was shaking, as was everyone else. Even humans could feel the amount of mana contained in that blast; to Tyr, it was like a supernova exploding in his skull.
“I have enough firepower to grind this piss-poor excuse for a town into dust, and my troops have gone quite some time without seeing a woman”-some of his troops let out yelps of agreement-“and won’t be held accountable for their actions.” He paused to let that sink in. “Now, take me to the prophet at once! I will not ask again!”
For a moment, it appeared that she would stand her ground, shaken and all, but then he saw the fight vanish from her, and she stood less tall. “Follow me.”
Tyr gave another signal to his Valkyries to surround the town. No one was going to escape.
