The interactive, button mashing counterpart to fanfiction. It's only fitting that there be a topic for fangames here at YourStory. Note, these differ from amateur games in that fangames are based on an already existing (and usually successful) franchise.
Example: I Wanna Be the Guy would be an amateur game. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Sages would be a fangame.
Fangames, like fanfiction, can be pieces of crap or awesome products that make you wonder "WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THE REAL DEVELOPERS THINK OF THIS?!
!!?"
Regardless, of the programming language, gameplay, or story (unless the story involves furries or the crappy areas of fanfiction), fangames are a form of artistic expression and, best of all, they're usually FREE. This can be awesome when Nintendo's charging you 40 bucks for a Zelda game when you could find an equal or better Zelda game made by a fan for free.
So, post the name/story/whatever of your favorite fangames here. Post the links too so you can share them with all of us. One of my personal favorites is Megaman Rocks. It's like Megaman 1-9 in terms of gameplay and difficulty, and is vastly superior to the crap that Capcom has been spitting out as of late. (MEGAMAN X, MEGAMAN ZERO, MEGAMAN BATTLE NETWORK WTF)
