The one from Lincoln. Not only was he being sarcastic when he said that, he was also talking about rich, white, plantation owners.

Oh, Im all for helping the poor, but it wont work. For every person truly in need, there's about twenty more who just wont work and want free money.

Really? Because it sounded to me like he was saying that 1. Taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for somebody else's health care 2. The government shouldn't be able to choose our insurance and doctors, and that this will lead to even more government control.

Yeah, the rest of it was him saying that we shouldn't care about the down and out. Selfish bastards the lot of ya them. No. What he said was, those that DO work and CAN afford healthcare shouldn't be shackled with the responsibility of paying for those who CANNOT afford it. They need help, yeah. But forcing everyone else to pay for them is not the best/right way

Of course, its not like the poor aren't paying taxes. Taxes are universal. They aren't paying the full bill, but they aren't just sitting there waiting for someone else to pay for it. Its everyone paying for everyone. Sure there are people who don't work, that needs to be fixed.

WHICH ISNT BEING FIXED. AND WONT BE FIXED WITH SOCIALISM. IT MAKES IT WORSE BECAUSE THEIR MINOR INCENTIVE TO WORK IS NOW ZERO

I think this has been stated before. Socialism doesn't completely take over business. You're still allowed to buy what you want, work where you want, and overall live how you want. The money you earn however is the same as most everybody else. Which is to get rid of the risk of creating to large of a gap in the amount of income between citizens. Which is a bad thing. If a totalitarian socialism came to power THEN you have what you all seem to believe all of socialism is. What I've been supporting is democratic socialism.
