As my High School years roll to a close, and upon giving considerable thought on my future college plans and the issues that pertain to it, my dad (oddly enough) brought up some interesting information and upon much thought I have this to say: I am considering enlisting.
Military: Yay or Nay

aw shi- Adam in the military honing dem assassin skills.
Although I myself fear death far too much to ever join the military (regardless of whether or not I'd actually be fighting in my current position...it could always happen), I would advise you to consider it. They pay for your education for the (relatively) small cost of a few years of your life, which sure beats spending the next 50 years paying off loans. Although I can't vouch for this personally, the entire transformation process (i.e. the leadership skills and physical fitness) they impose upon you would no doubt be highly beneficial to anyone in any career choice. After you've pledged a certain amount of time (20 years I believe), you can officially retire and receive 50 percent of your base salary for the rest of your life. I'm not sure of the numbers here, but that's potentially an additional $25,000 for the rest of your life by the time you're 38 years old and still have life to be squeezed out of you by the corporations.
All in all, unless you fear war/death as much as I do, I would recommend going for it. Although a price can't really be put on life, I'd say the pros of joining them definitely outweigh the cons.y

Although I abhor what military does (both to people and to the rich guys who finance it), I do fully support anyone who joins it. It makes a man out of you and teaches you leadership skills. And it ensures success in whatever you do later in life.
I say that you should think long and hard about it, but should you join it, you wont lose any respect from me.

Still thinking about it. THe Navy would give me a more clear cut career path (and make my mom less stressed out). Join Navy, go to college and have them pay for it FULL RIDE, then after college go to officer school, and with my degree in criminology, most likely work as Naval Intelligence.
Still though...somehow Army appeals to me more....

SO, back on topic, I'm still giving this much thought, but its looking like a good option. Still plan on going to college first though (most likely). GI bill pays for stuff.
