If you haven't played a Metal Gear Solid game, get off your chair, go out to your local GameCrap or Play N Trade and get one NOW. You could probably pick up the first one for the PlayStation at around 10 bucks, so DO IT FGT. If worse comes to worse, illegally download it.

plus i suck at stealth games, i prefer shooting crap and running in with no regard for my own personal safety, then somehow surviving

You can do that in Metal Gear. A friend of mine played through MGS3 and completely disregarded the stealth aspect, nuking any guard who stood in his way.
