He'd be more tragic if we actually knew what was going on. Also, socialist.

I meant what was going on before his descent into darkness. Also, socialist.

There was a war between Sylvarant and Tethe'alla. He an Martel were expelled from Heimdall for an unnamed offense (probably something trivial). No one believed him when he warned of the approaching Sylvaranti army, and Meltokio fell.
He met up with Kratos and Yuan and went around to gather pacts with the summon spirits, including Ratatosk, but Origin made his pact with Kratos. His pact involved stopping the war and reviving the Great Seed into a new Kharlan tree. But when Martel was killed (probably by a human) he snapped and abandoned his pacts, forcing Origin to create the Eternal Sword and using it to split the world. He took the Seed and Martal and fled to Derris-Kharlan.
that's it.
It would be cool if we got a Kharlan War game, but that is pretty clear on what happened.

I'm guessing that they revealed all that information through some side thing. Although the basic outline is there, i remember the game being very sparse on details. So yeah. What else is there?

War.
summon Spirits.
Martel's death.
If they were ever going to make a Mithos game, they aren't now, since Dawn of the New World was...a let down.
I think we get one more Symphonia game, one that deals with the war 4000 years ago, Mithos' rise and fall, and anything else they throw in.

So... I for one have given in and am now of the party who holds that he is the true protagonist.

mithos? Not likely. Remember the whole "eradication of free-will" part? Definitely the villain. not evil, but still the antagonist.

But if you approach it from a more nihilistic stance; that all suffering is derived from human greed and betrayal IE freewill, then he becomes applaudable.
