My starters have been thus:
Red/FireRed - Charmander
Silver/SoulSilver - Cyndaquil
Ruby - I actually have no preference here
Diamond/Platinum - Turtwig
hrm, two fires and a grass...

the obligatory bird pokemon, yeah, and some of them look similar.
Also, Munna looks like it could a baby form of Drowzee.

lol triple post.
I hoped they decrease the number of Legendary pokemon in Black and White.
Gold/Silver/Crystal had it the best: a Legendary trio, and two version-exclusive legendaries, with maybe a single legendary that only the Japanese will get.
