Perhaps, but then planning can come before the story. Places can be reserved, etc.
Like Austin said, the GM can set arbitrary restrictions.
I'd like to keep the "Each story gets a board" system we have.

get rid of proboards
Within the next few months we should look into getting our own site and customizable forum that would facilitate the roleplaying process. Plus, a non-proboards site is generally more well-received by the public than a site that uses this crazy free forum hosting.

We must call upon the holy deities of the Internet and...REGISTER OUR OWN DOMAIN NAME.
And then we call upon Steven and have him code OUR OWN FORUM.

Yes, registering a domain name would cost a few bucks, and keeping the site hosted would cost a few bucks a month. BUT IT'S FOR THE GOOD OF YOURSTORY. If need be, we can put an ad here or there on the site to pay for it.
And PHPBB software will be immensely useful.

But still... what's wrong with using InvisionFree or Zetaboards? Or even Proboards, for that matter?

personally I like using proboards because of how I like how the site looks right now. (possibly cause Im the one that designed it....)
but I agree with Tyler and his vision is actually how i wanted this site to go from the beginning. But we need full support from current members on this. In the past when someone new joined they would generally be simply ignored or have to deal with the bullshit that some of our members give.
Solution, like Tyler said, make things a little less disorganized. Also, focus a little more on making people welcome. I don't belive this site has ever had a 'Introduce yourself' sort of board, for people to get to know each other, like i have seen on almost every other forum site. Also, Derrick...tone it down a bit....others as well. I'm looking at YOU Zac.

Our Intro threads always got spammed into oblivion.

yes, but it still gives new people a way to sorta just make themselves known. Let them know they're welcome. as in DON"T IGNORE THE NOOBS. seriously, a site that doesn't immerse its members becomes stale real fast.
