In the world of Deuspiritus there exist four Dragon Gods. These Gods created the earth and the creatures that live upon it, and they also maintain control over it.
Jormungand
Jormungand, the ruler of the Gods, represents the earth because he created it. He acts as its protector, forever watching over it from the heavens. His enemy, Nidhogg, seeks to destroy his version of the world and create his own, so he banished him. The other two Gods usually act in his favor, along with the Demigods.
Ouroboros
Ouroboros is a serpent biting its tail that circles around the earth, similar to Jormungand. He represents time and knows everything that has and will happen. When it comes to the sides of the Gods, he is neutral because he knows every outcome. If you are lucky enough to ever encounter him, he may tell you of your future.
Quetzalcoatl
Quetzalcoatl is a feathered serpent that represents life. He created all creatures that reside in Duespiritus. He and Jormungand usually work together when it comes to protecting the creations.
Nidhogg
Nidhogg represents death. He believed the world should only be inhabited by dragons, and he tried to vanquish all other creatures, but Jormungand banished him and trapped him inside the earth. He was able to find roots from a giant tree, one that is said to hold the entire earth, and gnaws on its roots, hoping to break free. When he eventually does, it will bring the end of the world.
The Demigods
Naga
Naga was created by both Jormungand and Quetzalcoatl after Nidhogg created Malum. She is a dragon with seven heads, but she can also transform into a human. She was placed on earth to protect all creatures when the Gods couldn't intervene. It was said that she created the sword that the Hero used to slay Malum.
She dwells within a water cavern and is very shy. If you make an offering of milk or frogs, she may come out.
Malum
Malum is an evil dragon created by Nidhogg. He was originally no bigger than a pea, small enough to slip through the roots. Once he broke the surface, he would continually grow until death. Malum holds the same beliefs as Nidhogg and will try to destroy all creatures except dragons. He will sumon up an army to do his bidding.
If, by chance, he is ever slayed an egg will come from his body. It holds a copy of him and is indestructible. The egg will grow just as Malum has until its foe touches it, releasing it again. This is an endless cycle.
Bakunawa
The Bakunawa is a sea serpent that causes the solar eclipse. It lunges out of the water and tries to devour it, so every solar eclipse, people come out banging pots and pans to scare it away and save the moon.
Chuvash
The Chuvash was the first dragon to ever fly, so it was made a demigod. It was originally a giant snake that a town threatened to kill. It pleaded for peace, so the Dragon Gods granted it wings. Now it forever remains in the sky, giving wings to creatures that deserve it to turn them into dragons. The only time this dragon comes to the earth is when it transforms into a human.
