Austin: ALL THESE PREPOSTEROUSLY ILLOGICAL RULES ARE HAMPERING MY CREATIVITY
Nicole:
How about it's because they're similar to humans
They aren't causing any harm to them, but there are some that do just like there are also evil dragons.
Austin: romgklskmg IS THIS REALLY THE BEST EXPLANATION YOU CAN GIVE ME FOR THE COEXISTENCE OF TWO DOMINANT SPECIES ON THE PLANET EVEN THOUGH ONE IS VASTLY SUPERIOR?
Nicole:
Meh
I'll explain it more in depth I guess later
Austin: but if I'm going to make a character that fits to YOUR RIDICULOUS GUIDELINES, I'm going to need depth noooowwwwwwww
Nicole:
It's basically what I just said. Dragons aren't as different as we think
Austin: Right. Giant winged elemental-breath reptiles would let humans ride on them BECAUSE THEY'RE SIMILAR. roignsaewenfkajwenrgkearjgn
Nicole:
lkjhgfcx
Just suck it up
Austin:
YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, CLEARLY
I CAN SUCK IT UP WHEN I STUB MY TOE
I CAN SUCK IT UP WHEN I GET A TOOTHPICK EMBEDDED IN MY FOOT AND THE DOCTOR HAS TO STICK ICY HOT (YEA, ICY HOT) SCALPELS INSIDE TO REMOVE IT
BUT WHEN IT COMES TO UNDERSTANDING ILLOGICAL LOGIC
YOU CAN'T JUST "SUCK IT UP"
IF THAT'S THE CASE, THEN I WILL MAKE MY TEAM ROCKET CHARACTER RIGHT NOW
AND COMPLETELY NOT FIT IT IN THE STORY WHATSOEVER.
IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?
BECAUSE I'M A CLICK AWAY FROM DOING IT.
Nicole:
NOOOOOOO
If bears really wanted to, could they totally eat us?
Austin:
I DIDN'T THINK SO.
They can't 'want'. They have no wants. They do not have the mental capacity to form
wants.
They have instincts.
Nicole:
Well, if they did.
Austin: That's an ‘if’. An 'if' that we can't assume because they're subservient to us and only have instincts.
Nicole:
Well, if they felt like eating us, they could.
But we could also kill the bears.
Austin:
THEY CAN'T FEEL LIKE ANYTHING
AEIONFGAOEINGE
Nicole
FINE! If Asians decided to take over the wolrd, could they?
world*
Austin: Which group of Asians are we talking about, here?
Nicole: All Asians
Austin:
No. Because you know what would happen if they tried? Nuclear warfare. Then, nobody wins. Because everyone is dead. But that's a completely different issue.
What YOU'RE SAYING, is that dragons, superior to humans in everything, coexist for the lulz. Could the dragons easily destroy us and take over the world without losing much? Probably yes. Why don't they? THAT'S THE ANSWER YOU WON'T GIVE TO ME.
Nicole:
Well, humans can also kill dragons.
They don't attack eachother because they find the other species useful and they see no reason to.
Austin: Ok. Now we may be getting somewhere. Explain the usefulness of each to the other.
Nicole: Well, both get things done faster when they are used together. Humans and Dragons share the same interests in certain subjects. Both also want to study the other.
Austin: Ok...Give me a few specifics. Exactly what does a dragon need a human for?
Nicole: Humans like to establish territory and organize. This got dragons interested in law. They can also be used when it comes to shipping goods to other kingdoms. In other words, their grouping together and their organization.
Austin: Mmhmm...So, dragons like to learn things from humans, is that it?
Nicole: Yeah
Austin: Alright, then. What stops them from learning from humans and enslaving them? I like to learn from cobras, which is why I would have one in a cage or at a zoo...
Nicole:You know how scientists are always studying animals in their natural habitat?
Austin: Ah hah. NOW YOU ARE GETTING DOWN TO HOW THE STORY MAKES SENSE.
Austin: So, now that we've established that each group is not only capable of killing the others, but also capable of existing together, what kind of conclusion can we draw regarding each one's subservience (or lack thereof) to the other?
Nicole:
Well....they just sort of live with eachother.
Each species sees no reason to destroy the others
They also worship the same Gods
Austin: Mmhmm. Another similarity.
Nicole: The Gods are Dragons
Austin: Mmhmm...So, what we have essentially gotten down to is that both groups are quite similar and neither species is inherently better than the other, but each can do things the other can't, correct? Humans originated law, (most) dragons can fly, etc.
Nicole:
Yeah
Dragons also have strength and wisdom
And dragons and humans can share a special bond
A dragon can choose to bond with a human
That's sort of the purpose of the academy
Dragons come to bond with humans
Usually the type of dragon you get determines your future job or goal in life
Austin:
Explain.
Nicole:
You'd have to read the dragons' descriptions
Not all of them are the intelligent ones that want to learn or study or work
Some are monsters
But they all have different abilities or preferencs
Like the Blue Dragon usually works with law
But most dragons will fight in the army
Some don't
Austin:
Alrighty...Now that we've established more-or-less symbiosis/equality and a few more facts about dragons, what's to stop me from making a character such as
"Bob" (Filler Name), some misguided teenager/adult who was chosen by a White Dragon to set up an ice cream shop. Bob, however, hates ice cream or doesn't want to work in a shop or whatever. For whatever the reason, Bob hates his job and has a few friends that hate theirs too. So, since HUMANS ARE COMPLETELY CAPABLE OF KILLING DRAGONS AND ARE ALMOST THEIR EQUALS AS WE ESTABLISHED, Bob and pals start a team of dragon hunters. Unaware that the dragons have to choose them, they go around with some wacky technology enslaving dragons, trying to find ones to give them better jobs.
THAT'S REALLY ALL I CAN BE BOTHERED TO THINK OF.
TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT.
Nicole:
No
Also, Dragons could just eat them if they felt like it
Austin:
WE HAVE ESTABLISHED THAT MEN CAN KILL DRAGONS
WHY CAN'T THEY ENSLAVE THEM
Nicole:
We can kill them, but with swords and weapons and strength. Dragons are stronger and have teeth and claws and strength.
Have you even read the discussion thread?
Austin:
So humans can make weapons to kill them, but they can't make technology to capture them?
I'M ASKING QUESTIONS AS I GO ALONG
YOU DRAGGED ME INTO A LENGTHY DISCUSSION BEFORE I GOT TO THE 4th PARAGRAPH
Nicole:
WELL FINISH IT
THEN ASK
Austin:
I've read the entire discussion thread, and not a single post relates to anything we discussed above.
SOME HELP.
Nicole:
BAH! The dragons and humans live together because they feel like it. Dragons are capable of sharing bonds with humans, but they are probably stronger and wiser. But humans also learn quickly and organize. But if we tried to take over the dragons, they would eat us. In a war against us, we would lose. But the dragons are also peaceful. Kinda like how we could totally kill all the bears in the world, but we don't.
Austin:
We don't have to live with the threat of bears taking over the planet. We're the dominant species on earth, because we are the only one with sufficient mental intellect to enslave/kill/do whatever we wish to the rest.
And if we would lose in a war against dragons, how did the war described in the discussion end?
Nicole: Malum was killed
Austin:
You can't honestly expect me that Pretty-Boy-With-Magic-Sword-Bullcarp slays evil dragon and ends the war instantly.
Can you?
Nicole:
Not all the dragons were on Malum's side.
Just the Green, Red, Black, and such
There were a lot on our side, but Malum was strong.
Once he was killed, the evil dragons didn't have a leader anymore, and they were able to push them back.
Austin: So what you're saying is that humans can win in a war against dragons, which completely contradicts what you said 6 minutes ago?
Nicole: Humans AND dragons can win against dragons
Austin: So in other words, humans are completely useless and powerless without dragons to help them.
Nicole: No, we can still fight them, but not an entire army controled by a demi god
Austin:
So in other words, humans are completely useless and powerless without dragons to help them, because what you've laid out in the background for the story is that Malum is an immortal demi god. Thus, the humans will continually need the dragons help to defeat him, only for the entire war to start all over again. What's to stop the dragons not aligned with Malum to say "Hey...These humans are weak. They would lose to Malum without us. Why don't we just get rid of them instead of risking our own numbers helping them?"
Nicole: Because the bad side doesn't just want to kill humans, they want to kill everything except dragons
Austin:
So Malum and co. want to destroy every non dragon in the world, and the 'good' dragons don't want this, so they continually risk their lives to aid the humans in defeating Malum. Is this what you're saying?
Nicole:
Yep
They also share a bond with humans like...a man and its dog
But deeper
Austin:
Uh-huh. So good dragons, who are essentially superior to humans, share a bond with them and help them defeat Malum whenever he comes along so as to avoid destruction of all races. Is that it?
Nicole:
I guess
Also, good dragons don't like bad dragons in general
Austin: Ah hah. So the good dragons also help humans for their own personal grudge against the evil dragons. And the humans are essentially powerless.
Nicole:
Not totally powerless. It's just...what if Sheba decided to get a bunch of elephants together to try and kill us? Well, we'd be screwed because it's Sheba. We'd be able to fight back and maybe hold them off, but not kill them.
Austin: Sheba?
Nicole:
The Indian God
Of destruction
Austin: Ah. Shiva.
Nicole: yah
Austin:
With the logic you've give me so far, what's to stop President Obama or something from taking his trusty Magic Sword, killing Shiva temporarily, and using the remaining time from slaying the rest of the elephants?
Nicole:
Well..hm...
It's hard to explain...there's really no reason for them living together, they just do. Malum is just pure evil along with the other dragons and wants to kill everything. The good dragons like the other races and want to protect them because of their protector god.
Austin:
They just do. Malum is the universe's own Avatar of Destruction, held in disdain by the good dragons and their (since all evidence points to this) subservient human friends, and they live together because...they just do.
Nicole:
Have you read the thread about the gods?
Austin:
I perused it to see more info about Malum and his demigod brethren, but not much more than that.
Nicole:
Well, all the gods want all their creatures to live except Nidhogg
brb
Austin:
Alrighty...Perhaps you'll make more sense when you return...
Nicole:
k
Austin:
Welcome back.
So you've got a bunch of gods, sans Nidhogg, who are essentially allied with humans/good dragons/misc. creatures, and outside of Naga creating some magic sword, they have done nothing to help?
Nicole:
Well, they come in to play more later
Austin:
Mmhmm...
(Discussion stops))
