so...it sounds like the Drum Majors aren't doing a very good job. But I don't ever recall us falling out of attention just because the drum majors did. Seems like they should respond more to the voice commands than anything else and it would make things easier.

Well, the attention thing is getting annoying. When we set drill, staff is so focused on the kids that move (fewer now, but still) that we don't get things done fast enough. Standing in modifed until dressing would be easier and faster.

Also, there's confusion. There's a lot of us, so hearing or seeing things is a little harder. We call them to modified from time to time, but we're really spread out, and usually staff or drum majors call it. If the drum majors fall out, the freshmen think that means they can relax or go to modified. It's just a problem with examples...

One of the few times I've been on I see this.
I'll explain the drum major thing.
Mr. Foxworth told us to "follow the Drum Majors example," to "Stay at attention when they are."
Also, another bad thing, is that two of the consistently weakest sections, Low Brass and Percussion, HAVE NO SECTION LEADER. While this year the trumpets are technically the weakest section, the low brass is barely scraping along with 6 freshman and Dylan. We've been an afterthought this year, and we're suffering.
Mr. Foxworth has been twisting our words to the extreme.

here;s how we do it in college. You can pretty much relax as long as you're in your spot, or the drum majors call to attention.
After getting to a set, you have to stay at attention for a moment while Mr. Bradshaw looks things over, but after that you can chill. It's pretty relaxed and we get a whole bunch done.

I think I'll be glad when this year is over and I can chill...aside from the frustration with the staff and such, the show looks really cool. And the freshmen are finally learning. The only problem is that we're stretched from the right 20 yrd line to the left 20 yrd line. Half of us can't see, and Mr. Foxworth never gave a definite answer if he wanted us to turn in...we'll have to ask about that.

I love how the backs of our shirts have the "there's no try" even though he's putting us in competitions we have no chance of doing well in.
