First off: a warning. This is an incredible Alternate History ASB scenario. It's incredibly well thought out and is heavily inspired by HP Lovecraft.
It concerns a very different world. A world where Antarctica is habitable. Hellish but habitable. The ensuing culture spawned here-in is simply sickening.
