well, here's what I've got so far.
Second Impact. A cataclysmic disaster that struck the Earth on September 13th 2000 when a massive explosion occurred in Antarctica which melted the polar cap and even altered Earth's axis.
The explosion resulted in massive tsunamis, followed by a dramatic increase in global sea levels which flooded most coastal cities, and caused a catastrophic shift in global weather patterns. Two billion people in the southern hemisphere were instantly killed by the gargantuan tsunamis which followed the explosion. Many more would die in worldwide coastal flooding. As a result of the subsequent chaos, civil wars and ethnic conflicts werewidespread. It was only thanks to the quick mediation from the Holy Empire of Britannia, as well as the Japanese government’s willingness to share their vast wealth of sakuradite mineral, a powerful energy source, that the world was able to recover from the devastation without the outbreak of war. The world settled into an uneasy peace, with the three superpowers of the EU, the Chinese Federation and Britannia aiding their desolate neighbors and bringing stability back to the world. But in recent times, conflict has arisen between the EU nations and the Britannian Holy Empire, as the latter spreads its grip wider, annexing smaller countries left and right as colonies of the Empire. And an even greater threat looms on Japan’s horizon. The tense peaceful state of the world threatens to shatter.

The wilderness that surrounded the city of Tokyo-3 was at peace. The sky was clear and birds chirped, with no indication that the area had only recently been a battlefield of titanic proportions. The vast cityscape rose up to the horizon as the city seemed to blot out all else. There were only a few signs of the recent devastation; wreckage being cleared from highways and rubble being hauled away by trucks and work crews. All in all, it seemed like a perfectly normal day for the citizens of Tokyo-3. People went about their business. Most of the citizens of Tokyo-3 had long ago accepted the risks involved with living there. Most simply tried to ignore the destruction around them.
A woman stood on one of the many hills that overlooked the vast city, long green hair blowing gently in the breeze. Amber eyes stared out over the city with a peaceful expression, almost oblivious to the world around her. With a small sigh, C.C turned her gaze from the city to the nearby sea. “So this is the place, huh?” the words were spoken softly. Tokyo-3 was becoming the center-point of events that would shape the world, of that much C.C was certain. Slowly she began to walk, making her descent into the outskirts of the city.

Shinji opened his eyes are stared at the ceiling, taking a moment to figure out where he was. He had been living with Misato for almost three weeks now. He supposed that he should have gotten used to the new home by now, but the boy couldn’t help but feel a bit detached from the apartment. Shinji let out a soft sigh and sat up, looking around his small, almost bare room.
Shinji got ready for school quickly, turning on the television as he passed by, making himself some lunch before he headed out. He had yet to see Misato, so the boy assumed she was still asleep.
“-with the recent demands from the Britannian government demanding more access to sakuradite from the Japanese government…” the TV blared, reporting some news that Shinji ignored as he walked over to Misato’s door. He paused, then peeked inside. “Ah, Misato-san?” he ventured, peeking his head inside.
There was a loud groan from somewhere underneath a heap of pillows and blankets. Misato shifted underneath. “I just got back from pulling night-shift. I don’t have to work again until this evening, so let me sleep Shinj-kun.” The woman muttered. Shinji nodded.
“Okay, I’ll go.” The boy said, turning to leave.
“Hey,” Shinji paused as Misato spoke again. “how are things going with school?” Misato sat up, paying no mind to the fact that she was rather scantily clothed. Shinji blushed but otherwise didn’t react/ He was starting to get used to his odd guardian’s behavior.
“Fine, I guess.” He said, not sure why the sudden interest in his school life. Misato hummed thoughtfully and nodded.
“Alright. Have a good day Shinji.” With that, the woman collapsed back into her bed. Shinji closed the door behind him as he left, quickly gathering up his things from the kitchen. He decided to leave the TV on for Misato and Pen-Pen…who strangely enough watched the most TV out of all three of them.
“…Recent reports from the EU have stated that Britannian forces have been steadily increasing their forces in Area 14..” Shinji walked by the TV, glancing at the news with a frown and waving goodbye to Pen-Pen who responded with a heartfelt “Wark!” And with that, Shinji headed out of the apartment to school.

Misato waited until she heard the door slam shut to close her eyes, intent on sleeping until well into the afternoon. Her dreams were shattered by the loud and sudden ringing of the telephone, somewhere nearby. She fumbled around for it until her hand found the receiver. “Yeah, hello?” she said into the phone sleepily.
“How’s it going?” Misato perked up, hearing the familiar voice of Akagi Ritsuko on the other end. “Are you and Shinji getting along fine?”
Misato hummed thoughtfully. “Well, he started school two weeks ago, but he doesn’t seem to be adjusting well.” The NERV commander said. She heard Ritsuko hum on the other end of the line.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, he never gets any calls from friends and no one ever comes over to visit. I’m not sure, but I don’t think he has any friends.” Misato said, an all-too familiar headache beginning to return.
“That may be. Shinji doesn’t seem like the type to make friends easily.” Ritsuko said, leaning back in her office chair. She idly snuffed out a cigarette stub in a tray. Misato grunted in agreement, still not too coherent from lack of sleep. There was a long pause.
“So, what is it you wanted to talk about Ritz? Aside from checking in on Shinji-kun and me?” Misato asked finally. Ritsuko exhaled slowly.
“Commander Ikari was going to wait until tomorrow to officially inform you, but I thought I’d give you the heads up. There’s a representative from Britannia that’s going to be overlooking some of our operations here at NERV.” Misato groaned. “…and being the Director of Operations-“
“Yeah yeah, I know.” Misato grumbled, falling on her back and glaring at the ceiling. The relationship between the Britannian Empire and Japan was strenuous at best. Since Second Impact, both nations had found themselves to be central powers in the world. Britannia was one of the largest countries in the world and despite the devastation of Second Impact, the nation had still managed to come out of the damage with most of their economy and power intact. Japan’s economy, unlike most of the world, had barely suffered due to the nation’s vast export of sakuradite, which became all the more valuable after Second Impact. Britannia was Japan’s biggest business partner. But recently, it seemed that Britannia was on the verge of provoking all out war with its fellow nations. The world was all but divided up into three ruling super powers; the Holy Britannian Empire, The EU and the Chinese Federation. Britannia had recently begun to annex the smaller, weakened countries around them and turning them into colonies. The EU and Chinese Federation were guarding their borders vigorously, and it seemed that Britannia was on a warpath, with little to stand in its way. The only reason Japan had yet to be targeted was Britannia’s apparent willingness to cooperate in exchange for larger sakuradite shares.
One could only wonder how long that tense peace would last.
“ Well what does he want?” the commander asked.
“I would assume it is to investigate NERV’s operations against the Angels and the EVA program. If all goes well, they may be willing to help construct future EVA series alongside us.” Akagi responded, rustling through some papers on her desk. Misato sighed heavily.
“Alright, I’ll brace myself. Honestly, Britannian ambassadors are such-“
“They’re sending a Knight this time, Misato.” Doctor Akagi’s voice reflected that she fully understood the meaning behind that. Misato froze.
“A Rounds Knight?” she muttered, sitting up sharply. “Why?”
“Your guess is as good as mine.” Akagi said grimly. Misato grimaced. If the Britannians were going so far as to send one of the Emperor’s personal knights, then there was definitely something important going on.
“Has the Commander told you why?”
“No.” Ritsuko said sharply. Misato snorted.
“Of course. He’ll keep that to himself and let me sort out the mess.”
“I’m sure that Commander Ikari has a good reason for it.” Ritsuko replied a bit more defensively than she meant to.
“Right. Well, if that’s all, I’d like to get some sleep before I have to get ready to meet this guy.” Misato said, rubbing her eyes sleepily.
“Be sure to remind Shinji that we have a sync test this afternoon.” Misato grunted and affirmative and hung up the phone, tossing it aside as she collapsed back into her bed.
