IT'S GOD TIME! Because of Comcast's inability to repair the Internet, I used my spare time writing quite a bit. The first of the few stories I wrote details the world's creation and the birth of Awesome Land and Super Land. I worked a great deal on these stories so I would appreciate your reading/enjoying them.
Basic background information you need to know: Nothing.
At first I was hesitant about posting this story; I had had the story in my head for months but I didn't want to post it because it my spoil future plot lines. WELL SCREW PLOT LINES. Awesome Land's not about planning ahead. It's about being random, and up until recently it has always been that way...But I digress. Without further ado, I bring you "Awesome Land Origins: The World's Creation".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before there was Light…Before there was Darkness…Before there was Fire, Water, Earth or Air…There existed only nothing. A state of absolute emptiness swept the universe…or what would become the universe. From this state of non-existence all emptiness began to amalgamate until from the nothingness arose a single being endowed with a very unique ability. Just as this being was created from nothing, so too could He create others from nothing. Along with this ability, His being the fusion of absolute nothing granted Him unbridled intellect and knowledge with which to use His power. This knowledge immediately made Him aware of His existence and all things missing from it, many of which are commonplace in humans today. Happiness…Sadness…Companionship.
The being spoke aloud in a language incomprehensible by anyone, a language that would be the outlet for his power, a language that would forever be known only to Him: “Salvar Destrui Creare…” the words rang from His voice and two more beings appeared in front of the first. As the first being was made only from nothing, He had no physical form and endeavored to prevent his created beings from suffering the same way. The first of the created beings took on the shape of what would be the model of all human females; golden hair that ran down to her toes, smooth and cream colored skin, pale blue eyes and a beautiful face. She was flawless, as the primary being had intended. The second of the created beings took on the form of what would be the model of all human males; short golden hair that went to his neck, the same skin color and texture as the first being, the same blue eyes and soft face. The two created beings began to shiver and writhe in the emotion which would come to be known as pain. Their bodies could not survive in the state of non-existence around them. The primary being cloaked both in shining, flowing white and golden robes which repelled the nothingness around them, and the two beings felt their second emotion: happiness.
The primary being had not given either of his creations any power and resolved to do so. The first of their abilities was that of comprehension, and the second of their abilities was that of speech. The primary being instantly created a new language, one that would not be as powerful as his own and would allow the three to communicate freely. “My two creations…” the primary being spoke in a thundering voice. “Before I continue, may each of you have a sense of identity…” The first of the creations, the female being, stepped forward instinctively. “May you be christened Seraphina, my first creation, and may you carry out my duties with perfection.” The female, Seraphina, nodded, and stepped backward. The second of the creations stepped forward and awaited his name as well. “May you be christened Delmerith, my second creation, and may your carry out my duties with perfection.” The male, now name Delmerith, nodded and stepped backwards.
The two creations quickly put into practice their knowledge and asked in soft, soothing voices “What should we call you?” The primary being spoke once more. “I am nameless…I am the personification of nothing and have no identity.” A hint of sadness was present in His voice and he added “Address me only as The Creator. That shall suffice.” Delmerith and Seraphina nodded and waited for Him to finish. “May each of you be blessed with powers similar to those of my own. May you be endowed with the ability to create…the ability to destroy. The ability to feel and think and be happy. May each of you be beings of the utmost purity and do whatever you see fit to uphold this purity. May each of you balance the other and ensure that together you are in eternal bliss…” The Creator sighed and Delmerith and Seraphina asked in unison “What is wrong?”
The Creator spoke again “I have put so much energy into your creations that I cannot sustain my own existence for much longer. It is with sadness that I leave you, but I know that you will make the most of everything you have. Should either of you ever feel that the company of each other is not enough, merely use the powers of creation I have granted you, and if you ever feel that you have too much, simply use your ability to destroy. Remember, you are beings of purity. Whether you create or destroy, do so only with the purest of intentions. Goodbye, Delmerith and Seraphina.” The Creator’s voice disappeared after those last words as He entered eternal stasis, leaving the two creations alone.
For a while the two lived in harmony, using their knowledge to create games and sports and other hobbies with which they could pass their eternity, but after long the loneliness became unbearable. “Delmerith.” Seraphina spoke in a heavenly voice. “Do you not ever feel lonely with just the two of us?” she asked, walking across the nothingness that lay before them. “Of course, Seraphina.” Delmerith spoke in an equally heavenly voice. “But what are we to do about it? The Creator endowed us with powers similar to his own, yes, but we cannot just use them! This nothingness is far too dangerous for any living creature who is not as powerful as we are, and our powers are limited to creating and destroying things that are weaker than The Creator made us to be.” Delmerith explained, feeling the emotion of annoyance as he did.
“Could we not create a place for such weaker beings to exist?” Seraphina questioned. “Like so?” She waved her arm in front of her and went into a state of deep concentration. A stone orb, roughly her height and width, appeared in front of them. “You’re being too naïve about this, Seraphina. Watch.” Delmerith created a very peculiar creature: It was a strange, 3 legged, dual winged dog/rabbit/unicorn type creature that he had clearly just thought of. He placed it on the orb and the nothingness swarmed around it, disintegrating the creature completely. “Even if you create a place for them, this nothingness will destroy them anyway.” Delmerith said, staring at the space his creature had just been in.
Seraphina too felt this feeling of annoyance, which promptly turned into anger. “Well, why don’t we just create something to repel the nothingness like our robes do!” she yelled out of desperation. “Because…Hmm? Yes, why don’t we…That’s not a bad idea.” Delmerith agreed. The two joined hands and entered concentration. Before them a huge orb of intense light appeared, sending away the nothingness in its vicinity. “Try again.” Seraphina instructed Delmerith, and he created another creature, a three headed jackal with a flaming tail. He had put a slight more amount of effort into this creation than his previous one. The creature was put on the stone orb and Seraphina and Delmerith were about to cheer as it survived, but moments later it burst into flames and was destroyed as well.
“Hmph…Perhaps this ’nothingness-repellent’ we’ve created is a bit too powerful. We must remember that the creations won’t share our power and will need to be treated as such.” Delmerith explained. They decided to move the orb farther away from the ball of light, and the farther it was moved the longer the creatures on it survived. “Excellent!” Seraphina cheered, feeling happiness. “But your creature does not look happy. It still seems to be bothered by the repellent. Hmm…” she thought. Quickly the answer came to her and she placed a clear shield around the orb, protecting the creature from the intense light. The creature lived for a long while but eventually perished as well, and Seraphina began to cry, feeling sadness.
“Why do they keep dying? Why are we able to live forever, but everything you create dies so quickly!?” she yelled. Delmerith promptly reminded her. “We are not as powerful as the Creator. We can only do a portion of what he does, which includes creating life spans. Calm yourself, Seraphina.” “Is there no way we can make them live longer? Even for a little while?” Seraphina asked, and once again the two thought of an idea. “Let us create forces which will prolong their life span as much as possible. This force, Water, will flow through them and keep them mobile.” Delmerith said. “And this force, Fire, will ensure that they always have a bit of the repellent to keep them safe from the nothingness.” “This Wind will keep them comfortable from your Fire, and this Earth where they stand shall ensure their eternal shelter.” Seraphina added.
Delmerith created another jackal, and once the two were happy with its lifespan and comfortableness they ceased working. “Delmerith…Not to be rude, but your creations seem…hideous.” Seraphina said, trying to sugarcoat her statement as much as possible. Delmerith felt anger and said “Why don’t you do better? Be happy I’ve helped you thus far!” “Why don’t we BOTH do better?” she asked. “As The Creator made us flawless, should we not try to create creatures like ourselves?” Seraphina concentrated again and created a being strikingly similar in appearance to Delmerith. “But…But…” Delmerith could not find a reason to argue with Seraphina, and he created creatures similar to her appearance. Rapidly they grew bored with millions of mini-thems running around, so they altered various features of their creations while still retaining the same plan. Height, width, skin, hair, eyes and all physical features of their creatures were changed, and as they created more they expanded the size of the Earth, Water, Fire and Wind supplies.
Eventually they gave the new creatures fairly watered down abilities similar to their own: The ability to think and feel, the ability to create beings like themselves (though not instantaneously), knowledge, emotion, and the ability to do whatever was in the realm of possibility of humans today. Their skill in creating things grew exponentially; Seraphina created creatures that needed only Water or only Fire, and Delmerith was able to create things that could live without any of the Forces at all.. He called them viruses and watched as they lived through other creatures, much to Seraphina’s annoyance. They both decided to give their creations the ability to change over time so that they would never become bored watching them. This went on for some time and the two were happy living in the nothingness while watching their creations on Earth, keeping good relationships with all of them until one day…
“Lady Seraphina! Lord Delmerith! We grow tired of this world! Everyday we are forced to migrate, leaving places we may otherwise grow attached to! We want some place to call our own that may never be taken!” came the voices of several creatures the two had since named humans. Seraphina and Delmerith looked at each other from the palace they had created to give themselves a home within the nothingness, which they had since begun to refer to as space.
“Borders.” Delmerith stated, looking down at Earth. “Pardon?” Seraphina asked, feeling confusion for the first time. “They want borders. They want us to separate the land into various areas for each group of people so they will not constantly have to travel.” Delmerith explained. “Why don’t they all just stay in the same place? Who keeps taking their land?” Seraphina asked. “Remember, Seraphina. We were not able to make them perfect as The Creator made us. These humans are fickle and can never be satisfied with anything. This will undoubtedly cause problems in the future. We must go down there and set the borders ourselves.” Delmerith and Seraphina looked at each other after he said this and laughed nervously. The two had never actually been on Earth and although they had seen it from afar and spoken with their creations, they had no idea what it would be like. Similarly, none of their creations had ever actually seen them, so they perceived danger in just showing up unannounced.
“Fine.” Delmerith said. “Seraphina and I will be there momentarily. Those of you who have brought this issue to our attention will see us first.” Delmerith and Seraphina looked at each other nervously. “Shall we?” Seraphina asked. “Of course.” Delmerith grabbed Seraphina’s hand again, as was customary when they were using one of their more powerful abilities. In a flash of light the duo had disappeared from their palace in space and reappeared directly where the people who had complained were. Although the people had never seen Seraphina or Delmerith, their presence was so powerful that they were immediately recognized. The two radiated a golden aura that matched their hair and robes, brightening the land around them.
Gasps of shock and people colliding with the ground as they fainted was how the two were first received. Those who had not passed out began to clap and cheer; two young children had even gone up and hugged each of them. This act proceeded to cause the children to have a seizure; such close contact with Seraphina and Delmerith was apparently all but deadly. “Um…Perhaps we should…” Seraphina began. “No need to finish. Let us lower our power so that we can speak to them without any dangerous side effects.” Delmerith and Seraphina grasped hands and attempted to lower their power, but nothing happened. “Why didn’t it work?” Delmerith asked exasperatedly. “It seems our creator did not give us such an ability. I’m sure He had good reason.” Seraphina decided that was the most logical explanation. “Fine. We must make our time on Earth very limited…or enforce a no contact rule.” Delmerith said. “No contact? I can’t go without touching my own creations!” Seraphina exclaimed, touching a nearby child. The child went into a seizure as the others did. Delmerith merely sighed and came up with a solution. “Channel your energy into the Earth. That way your body does not output as much and you can touch as many things as you would like. We’ll still have to make our time here limited; if we send too much energy into the Earth it will undoubtedly destroy itself.”
“Alright, then.” Seraphina agreed, and the two grasped hands and sent energy into the Earth, which violently shook. They figured they had a short while before they would have to leave again. “Now, back to matters at hand. Where shall we set these borders that you want? And who keeps stealing your land?” Seraphina asked, surveying the area where she stood. “It is them over there!” the townsfolk explained, pointing to a group of very sinister looking humans in the distance. “They use up their own land and then decide it is not good enough, so they take ours!” “Hmm. That’s not quite right. Such are the ways of humans, I suppose.” Seraphina thought. “They can be quite unreasonable. We shall rectify this. Delmerith, come. This land where we stand, our first descent onto Earth, shall be set for these people who have been victimized by their brethren.” Seraphina joined her right hand with Delmerith’s left, and their two free hands created a barrier around a large section of land. “From this day forward, the land surrounded by this barrier shall be Awesome Land, and may it be an eternal haven for our peaceful creations.” Seraphina stated, and the people of Awesome Land bowed before her and Delmerith.
“Thank you, Lady Seraphina and Lord Delmerith. Now perhaps we can live in peace forever.” the Awesome Land townsfolk said, and they immediately went to work building shelters to house them in their now permanent living area. Delmerith went off to set borders for other areas while Seraphina dealt with the people who had been bothering the people who were now citizens of Awesome Land.
“My creations, what causes this desire for you to constantly take the lands of others? Why can you not be satisfied with what you have been given?” Seraphina asked them. The sinister looking humans spoke in unison. Men, women, boys and girls all spoke in an eerie voice together “You created us with knowledge, and this knowledge has allowed us to see the world for what it truly is. We see it as a place for us to take over, to control. You created humans as imperfect, and imperfect creations will need constant guidance to prevent their own destruction. We serve as these guides, and if we must protect these imperfections from themselves by force, so be it.”
Seraphina was shocked by their reason and wondered if she had actually created such strange humans. “Is this so? Regardless, you are to respect your fellow creations. Give them the same respect that they give you…That Delmerith and I give you.” Seraphina commanded. “And if we refuse? You may be our creator, but we are not obligated to listen to you.” the people said in unison . One of the people stepped out from the crowd of sinister people and said “What my people said are true. Leave us be unless you can satiate our desire.” the man said. Seraphina was taken aback by this display of insolence and anger welled up within her. “Who are you? Tell me your name immediately!” she yelled, and the power she had sent into the Earth began to be channeled back into her. “I am Ophanis, the leader of our people. I repeat: Leave us be unless you can satiate our desire.” Ophanis repeated. His eyes stared directly into Seraphina’s showing no sign of fear or submissiveness. “So be it.” Seraphina yelled, and she drew a relatively small circle in the ground. “May this area of land be known as Super Land, and may it forever suffer misfortune. And since you all are so power hungry, this shall be my gift to you.” Seraphina outstretched her hand and each of the people of Super Land was bathed in a blinding light. Once the light cleared, each of the people had shining white wings.
“Forever, Ophanis, shall your people be forced to live between sky and land. May your wings be both a blessing and a burden, and may you never find happiness. Now, go use your wings and conquer the creatures of the air, but leave the other land creatures alone.” Seraphina commanded them. Ophanis laughed and bowed. “Thank you for this gift. It shall be put to excellent use. Now, leave us so that we may continue our plans.” Seraphina left and Ophanis and the people of Super Land immediately attempted to fly, failing miserably. The people of Awesome Land laughed at these winged humans, sensing that no good could come of being able to fly. These Super Land citizens would never have a permanent home, always wavering between the sky and the earth. For years and years would the Super Land people practice flying until the ability became hereditary, and for years and years they would look back on both this day and Seraphina in contempt.
Seraphina and Delmerith met back where they had descended and absorbed their power back from Earth. The citizens of Awesome Land bowed before the two creators, whom they decided to refer to as their gods, and the two gods ascended to their palace in space again, vowing to come whenever they were needed.

So, what did you think? Spent a bit of time and effort on it, and I personally still think it needs some tweaking. But, all things considered, not a bad story, right? As you may have expected, consequences (perhaps severe?) will arise from Ophanis' actions. I have the sequel (more or less) to this story written as well, so I'll post that in a few.
As always with the Legend of Bob (which I must continue soon): Questions? Comments? Concerns? Leave me a message and I'll get back to you ASAP.
