Alright, I'm going to attempt to flesh out some factions that need some 'splanin'.
America:
The Ol' US of A was hit pretty hard with the death of the Father. Millions of its civilians flocked to the angels thinking that the end times were at hand. Another 7 million suffered from severe mental break downs from Cthulhu's Nightmare Plagues. However, to America's credit, it responded fairly well to the disaster. Congress fused itself into one house, and the judicial branch was merged with the executive to create the new Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is headed by the President, but is also supplemented by his cabinet and what's left of the supreme court.
Political parties have been made moot with the advent of the coalition government, and state governments have been turned into bureaucratic machines designed to obey the directives of the state.
The Bill of Rights still holds, but the state now runs the media and usually arranges accidents for those who speak out. So feel free to say whatever you want, just make sure it's something positive.
Labor rights are going down the toilet as the Federal Government can now just send in the military to break up any strike.
The odd thing about the US's position is its religious position. In the beginning, the US government was simply going to deny that God was dead. The original plan was to cast the Heavenly Host as more monsters that had simply taken the form of angels. This worked fairly well, but there was one thing that stood in their way.
Jesus wasn't dead. Although, he was reluctant to respond to the name "Jesus", Yashua had indeed descended into his adopted homeland of middle America. For a time, he was simply a traveling vagrant. He healed the sick, and gave food to the poor. He preached a message of love and acceptance in a world overcome by fear and hate. But eventually, he had to give up his cover.
One day, Yashua had traveled to an American city that had been ravaged by Angels. The Host had been forced out, but the battle had only taken three hours. Most of the cities population had locked themselves in their homes, too afraid to leave less they gaze upon the majestic, alien perfection that makes up a child of heaven.
The end result was over a million people locked inside crumbling, high-rise apartments. One quake was all it took. Skyscrapers shook, their denizens braced for imminent death... but death didn't come. They all slowly crept out of their rooms, baffled. The building were not but dust, suspended in mid-air! For in the center of the city, stood an unkempt man. Blood poured from his hands and forehead, a ring of light suspended above his brow. His hands were thrusted into the air, keeping the city in place.
Yashua had saved them all.
Yashua now randomly appears in town to town, trying to preach his message, but the government uses him as little less than a propaganda device. Yashua tries to tell everyone of the terrible things that their government does in their name, only to have the media twist his words to suit their own needs.
EU:
The EU may be the last democracy on Earth. And sadly, it's just as authoritarian as any other government. The people merely get to vote which tyrant they want in office every year.
Germany and France are the two key states here. They use their power to keep the entire Union together, or at least they did until King Arthur sprang from the grave. Now, they're a little shaken.
Religion isn't illegal, but there are few who openly practice it anymore. The Host views them as nuisances, but they have bigger fish to fry.
Russia is next.
