Alright, well, Austin's "Sealing of Hystoger" inspired me to write this... along with the fact that Austin mentioned the possibility of writing Queen Crider's history. This isn't Queen Crider's story... yet. This is a several years before she comes into power. This... is the story of King Johnson and his fight with King Porter and the Woodwinds from Lolfail Land. (This is nothing new... well, the story is, but I came up with all these names months ago... when Ausum Land was still alive. So don't get mad about the biased names.)

Decades ago, before Queen Crider was the ruler of Ausum Land, King Johnson reigned over the land with a stable, peaceful rule. All the people of Ausum Land revered him, and none dared oppose him because they all knew the consequences. At that time, the Brass of Ausum Land and the Woodwinds of Lolfail Land got along and lived together in harmony. (I liek puns.) King Johnson ruled for many years, keeping peace with King Porter of Lolfail Land.
But the peace did not last for long.
Having been raised and taught by Randy Hunter, the previous king of Lolfail Land, King Porter came to believe that the Woodwinds were far superior to Brass. He did not want to live in a land primarily dominated by Brass. So the Woodwind King planned to attack Ausum Land and King Johnson, his longtime friend.
Now, there were a handful of Woodwinds who were loyal to the entire Band, and they wished to maintain peace, so they informed King Johnson of their ruler's plot. King Johnson ordered the Ausum Army into action, spreading them out all over Ausum Land and placing a concentrated force on the northern coast to defend from southbound Woodwind invaders.
A raging battle ensued. Brass and Woodwinds marched (literally) into battle, forming up into intricate formations that revealed skill characteristic of DCI. Each side fought with Music and weapons. Trumpets squealed, Clarinets squeaked and wailed, Trombones growled, Saxophones roared, Tubas blasted. Swords clashed, spears jabbed, staffs smashed together, arrows whistled through the air. And the battle raged on.
One Brass Player stood out from all the rest: Rigel, King Johnson's Trumpet daughter. Rigel had been raised to be the best Trumpet Player in all of Ausum Land, and her training did not fail her now. She had quickly risen up to the title of Trumpet Captain, and her ruthless discipline of her soldiers was legendary. Now her strict discipline and training finally paid off.
As Trumpet clashed against Clarinet, Trombone against Saxophone, Tuba against Bassoon, Rigel climbed up on a hill and let loose the highest note any of them had ever heard: LOLPICCOLO C. The shrill blast shattered the eardrums of Woodwind upon Woodwind. Even the Clarinets, who were used to devastatingly high notes, were no match for Rigel's LOLPICCOLO C. As the deafening squeal blasted on and on and on, the Woodwinds turned tail and fled. Of course, the battle was not over yet.
A few years later, King Porter sent spies to Ausum Land to find the most vulnerable place to attack. He knew that they would never win as long as Rigel was on the side of the Brass, so his new tactics involved mental warfare as well as musical and physical. The spies snuck into the Ausum Kingdom and kidnapped Rigel, taking her into the Eastern Mountains, the home of Woodwinds in Ausum Land. With the Princess' kidnapping, the Brass became outraged, and King Johnson began sending in Brass troops to Lolfail Land to attack from the inside. None of the insiders were ever heard from again, though there is a rumor that the echoes of their final notes can be heard while sailing across the Ausum Channel.
Princess Rigel was tortured mercilessly, and she was held for several more years, making the war last that much longer. When she was finally released, she was so beaten and broken that she was barely recognizable: physically or psychologically. Her motivation was destroyed completely, and she no longer wished to play Trumpet. The only good thing that came from it was that Rigel was able to provide inside information to the Ausum Army. However, this did little good when Rigel buried her Trumpet under the tiles in a room in the Ausum Palace. The tiles were secured, and the room was sealed. Rigel would never play Trumpet again. She eventually left Ausum Land and went to live — and die — in the Key Islands south of Ausum Land.
Now without a fearless, undefeatable leader, the Brass charged into battle with the Woodwinds yet again, but this time with less motivation and less confidence. King Porter's plan was working: he destruction of the leader's spirit led ultimately to the crushing of the entire nation's morale.
But another upcoming Trumpet Player brought with her the end of the war. A young girl named Paula, in her mid-teens, volunteered to go out to fight. King Johnson tried to change her mind, but she was determined. She was finally allowed to go, and when she arrived on the battlefield, all went silent. She stood between the two armies, lifted her Trumpet to her mouth, and played Overheat C. The Brass were not impressed: Overheat C was only five octaves above the staff. Most of them could play that. It was four octaves below LOLPICCOLO C, a note that only Rigel could play.
But then the unimaginable occurred. The Overheat C began to make Paula's Trumpet glow red, and fire burst forth from the bell of the instrument. The fire engulfed the Woodwinds, and the incredible heat made all of the Woodwinds' reeds and instruments flare up, leaving only piles of ashes behind. Seeing what Paula was doing, the Brass cheered, and they all proceeded to play Overheat C on their respective instruments. The Eastern Mountains and the northern coast were soon ablaze with the burning Woodwinds.
Dejected, the Woodwinds returned to Lolfail Land to report to King Porter. The King was outraged, but the people of Lolfail Land had grown weary of the war. King Porter reluctantly agreed to a truce with King Johnson at the request of the entire nation of Woodwinds.
The war was now over. King Johnson honored Paula, giving her the title of Honorary Princess of Ausum Land in Rigel's absence. As Rigel would never return to Ausum Land again, Paula became Queen of Ausum Land years later, and she would rule for a good long term as Queen Crider, the Trumpet Queen and the Brass War Hero.

Alright, well, that's the vague story of the First Battle of the Bands. I will continue with the story of Emotecon and Estal20 when I get the chance.
