Give me a brief outline, and then I will decide. As long as I can maintain my life without a "secret Police" carrying me away for saying anything against the government.

huge propaganda campaigns promoting hard work for our Great Nation. Corporations have to give huge amounts of their profits to the government. We adopt an isolationist trade policy. Demonize other nations and outsourcing to other nations. HAIL GREAT LEADER!

You would need effective propaganda. Nothing fear-inducing.
So you promote small-business, then?
Isolationist... hmm. We would have to demonize outsourcing first. going it alone with most of our jobs halfway around the world would be bad.
Propaganda campaign. then Isolationist.

How does our current government fit into your plan?
Cuz fascism CAN effectively work IF the government does go imperialist like Italy. The whole country has to rally behind one leader and give him or her their unfailing devotion. Isolationism compliments Fascism quite well, in fact. No other powers to put pressure on the leader, forcing him to make tough decisions. If all ties are severed, then the nation could then theoretically become totally self-sufficient.
My main concern is censorship.

Yes, there would be a small degree of censorship. The media itself would be broken up into hundreds of bickering news channels. The leaders would be elected democratically of course.

would speaking out against the government result in a "insta-ban" of sorts?
Surprisingly, I am finding this more and more appealing. If it worked, it shouldn't fail.

if you spoke out, you would just be publically humiliated. Nothing more. Humiliation and shame is the ultimate punishment.

Nobody here has read and/or understood 1984. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

But its not absolute power.
No one said anything about a one-man government. There would be other parts, the nation would just rally behind one person.
And keeping a constitution in place would prevent anyone from declaring himself Ceaser.

there would still be democratic election by the people, so there would not be absolute power. And i loved 1984.

Its a republican government, but... with less branches for issues to get tied up in.
Term limits. Constitutional rights. Isolationism.
thats what it is.

I personally think FDR was awesome. He's one of the only Presidents to take such an active (and beneficial) role in our nation.
I don't like the two-term limit in some ways, but it prevents using fear/military might to coax people into voting him in for life.
Also, professional army. None of the this "volunteer or we'll draft you" crap.

Hey, check it out. In a few hours (like one and a half) we (mostly derrick) hammered out a system of government thats better than our own.

I disagree. Power creates a desire for more power. That's the problem with the government today (and every government, for that matter). Politicians can only think of their constituents in order to maintain their positions. Do you know why GM was bailed out but not Ford? They're one of the largest union employers and Ford isn't unionized. The Democratic constituency is largely unionized so the politicians support unions to please the majority. That's just a sample of the dirty underbelly of politics.
