Get rid of politicians beyond a necessary council. But give override power to the people, like its SUPPOSED TO BE! Politicians use their serpent tongues to make us believe that they act in our best interest, but they don't. the people doesn't have enough power to call back their elected officials and say "You're not doing what you said. You're out." We need more of that. Other wise the government will keep being shitty.
Dissolve unions, dissolve parties. As long as either exists, we can't accomplish anything. Lines will always be drawn on a "this side or theirs" battleground with no room for compromise. Those that wish to compromise (3rd parties) will never have a say, because the parties are too powerful. they are close-minded and stubborn, and unwilling to do anything REMOTELY against their "beliefs". Republicans for example, are super Christian. they won't legalize abortion, or stemcell research because both are against their beliefs. However, both topics are best left to individuals. Abortion is a woman's decision, and stem cell research can cure diseases like Alzhiemers and Perkinsons.
Political parties are natural, I think, but impractical. They prevent real progress from being achieved.

Another totalitarian government book to read: Brave New World. It's a far more likely way to maintain control and it invalidates your "citizens' power balancing things out" theory. People don't realize they've lost power if they're distracted and/or fooled into thinking they still have it.

Just have one party. Call it, the People's Party. Its goals will change as time goes by. The people will be able to say what they want done, and the Leader will make sure it gets done.

That makes it even more like 1984. What's the point of a Democracy if there's only one party? What's more, what makes you so sure the leader will do what he promises? He can lie and nobody would know due to your scrambled media.

In that case, we should all go back to the Ancient Athenean system. There was basically TOTAL citizen participation in the government, with only a single Senate.
But a true Democracy won't work in that way on a scale as large as America. True Democracies have to be small. The larger you get, the less the citizens participate. SO we have to compromise. Citizen veto over government, a thing we should have anyway.
And I might look up Brave New World.

And we only suggested MILD censorship. If that wont work then NO censorship. He can't be allowed to hide his actions.

Unofficial parties would develop in the form of political alliances. They're inevitable.
A Republic is the best option for a government as large as America. A total Democracy wouldn't work anymore due to the current state of voter apathy.

That was the point of the Fascism: to rally the public behind one leader! Get them excited, even if it means a propaganda campaign!
I said earlier that political parties are natural. Yeah, they are inevitable. But they can't be allowed to reach the kind of strength the Republicans and Democrats have now!

Every now and then the government will enact purges to eliminate any chance of a party being developed. Besides, after years of contentness, everyone will think about the same.

But it won't be totalitarian. Its a Fascist-Democracy. Relying on isolationist principles and public approval for decisions.

Now you're getting into what Lucco is afraid of. The people can't simply accept what the government does. That's the same thing as voter apathy. They have to excited, or at least knowledgeable. Accepting things as they come leads to one man seizing power.

This is true. Unions are greedy monsters that want money without really deserving it. They drove up their own pay so high, that it became cheaper to outsource to Asian countries. Now here we are, our economy is floundering, and we can't do anything about it. Why? Because we don't produce anything of our own anymore. We have to import everything, i.e. spend money. We won't get out of our TRILLION DOLLAR DEBT unless we go back to being a manufacturing country. Except, that won't happen as long as unions survive. you can't jump back from where we are now to a manufacturing economy, you have to hit rock bottom. then become agricultural economy, THEN with the agricultural support we can move back to manufacturing

Yeah, the politicians will subtly take power from the citizens and the isolationism will cause an economic crisis and goods shortage. Do you realize how much we import? Even if we re-industrialized somehow, the nation couldn't become self sustaining. We need too much. Energy, for instance. We need to import that.

A well thought out propaganda campaign could sway public opinion agaisnt outsourcing. the resulting outcry would force companies to bring jobs back home. thus begins the isolationist policy, along with the Fascist regime revolution. One man has to excite the country. Everybody.
