The JUST DO THE DAMN THING approach is semi-effective. It depends on the girl. That also puts a lot more pressure on that first date. If you know her a little better, you just have to focus on not screwing things up. If you just ask her off the cuff then you have to worry about wooing her on the fly. That is for experienced charmers only.

Now, you can still screw things up between dates. RESIST TALKING TO HER EVERY NIGHT. That's called burning the candle at both ends, and you don't want to get bored with each other (or her get bored with you) before you hit that fourth or fifth date. Believe me, I know.
