Its not impossible. Its just highly unlikely. No one has the guts nor the resources. BUT WHO'S TO SAY IN THE FUTURE FUCKING YEARS. People are so god damn ignorant about our own country. If our commerce were to be jeopardized we would go nearly all out to save our own asses. This is a money oriented country. You need money to do anything. A feint would open us up as wide as a prostitutes legs. A threat of anthrax or other chemical agent would then keep us from a frontal assault seeing as the government would once again have to do clean up costing more money then they would be willing to spend. WE ARE NOT INVINCIBLE. Missiles, bombs, and FUCKING MECHS can be sent. National Guard can be decimated. If they aren't trained in real combat, how are they going to deal with suicidal maniacs and people who have a straight out hate for us? Hawaii was heavily defended at the attack of Pearl Harbor, and they were attacked. They didn't have time to respond. Who's to say that couldn't happen to the East Coast. With enough resources, provided via alliances, and enough strategy we can be attacked. Like I said, we are not invincible. People owning guns wouldn't do shit either. How many people, after being pampered as much as we are, really willing to shoot that gun when the worst thing that happens to us on a daily basis is maybe getting a paper cut? Also, in the story idea, they have mechs. Whats a little handgun going to do against a mech? Annoy it until the pilot decides to squash him/her? I don't think this got posted regarding an error in thread posting/ needing to copy and paste to this thread, but the mechs of everyday U.S. are only construction models. We don't have defense against them until our own forces react. I've thought this through. Also, during the Revolutionary war, the Founding Fathers were thought of as terrorists. They had the equivalent of Al Qaeda's supplies. Look how the Founding Fathers did. They just had to get France to help. Look at who the invading forces got to help. Its possible that they have nuclear arms. Ok. But your entire post relies on a couple of things that don't quite work 1. The US gov't would be stupid enough to just let someone march up our east coast. 2. The US gov't would be stupid enough to let our influence in the world dip just because our economy isn't doing that great. 3. The US gov't would be stupid enough to not build better mechs than what a bunch of fucking sand niggers could get their poor hands on. 4. The American sense of "I'm American and I'm going to kick fucking ass while singing the national anthem," will just go away. Do you know what happens when a terrorist tries to take a plane with Americans on it? The Americans get out of their seats and kick his ass personally.

1. Smuggling. 2. We entered WW1 so that the debts owed to us would be payed back. 3. The U.S. Governments has their top notch mechs out fighting in the war already going on. All it takes for someone to get a hold of one is a few corrupt companies wanting to get some more money. 4. Yeah, whats an American going to do when they see a bomb strapped to their chest? Get out of his seat and kill everyone else on the plane? Sure you'll try it. Then you'll have your ass burning in a few gallons of jet engine fuel.

Space maybe, mechs coming from space, no. IT IS THE YEAR 0079 OF THE UNIVERSAL CENTURY. EARTH HAS MOVED MUCH OF ITS BURGEONING POPULATION INTO SPACE COLONIES, IN WHICH PEOPLE LIVE... AND DIE. NINE MONTHS AGO, THE CLUSTER OF COLONIES FARTHEST AWAY FROM THE EARTH, CALLED SIDE 3, DECLARED ITSELF THE PRINCIPALITY OF ZEON, AND BEGAN A WAR OF INDEPENDENCE AGAINST THE EARTH FEDERATION. INITIAL FIGHTING LASTED OVER ONE MO- NO! I have been watching WAY to much Gundam the past few days. It's unhealthy

Derrick, I think its you that said to me. "People are fucking lazy. They have to be forced to do something." This was after the draft, or no draft assignment we had in lit. There is also another thing about the Human psyche. Nearly everyone is a coward. Those suicidal maniacs I'm talking about have been brainwashed and someone is going to stand up and say "I'm gonna kick you're ass even though you have a cannon in a mechs hand pointed at my face yelling 'Allah' possibly already going to shoot my cloth-clothed body that will be instantly decimated."

And whats more noticeable: One boat or AN ARMY THE SIZE OF FUCKING EUROPE? 2. If anything you're reinforcing my point. Besides, we weren't a super power then. 3. WE ALWAYS HAVE MORE PEOPLE IN RESERVE THAN WE HAVE PEOPLE OUT FIGHTING. 4. Yes. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umar_Farouk_Abdulmutallab5. We also need to remember that in order to reach the coast, you have to get across THE FUCKING ATLANTIC OCEAN WITHOUT BEING DETECTED!

1. Hold on, why wait to smuggle one boat load, when you can be smuggling for years? 2. The point to this is that we're really only for money. 3. With casualties from mechs thrown in, we may be running out of reserves. This point I'm willing to back off of. 4. Bull shit. No body would start going out and punching a mech. 5. AGAIN POINT 1. All you need is to pay a few people off and you're good. Put it under imports as construction mechs and you'll be fine.

Wesley, I'll leave you with this point: The only way America could become weak enough to be invaded is if some horrible catastrophe happened... OH SHIT! THE YELLOW STONE CALDERA!!!!
THERE WE GO! HAVE THE YELLOW STONE CALDERA EXPLODE AND BAM! SEMI-PLAUSABILITY AND AN EXCUSE FOR EVERYTHING!!!
Nope. My idea is better.

In 2033, spaceflight hit a breakthrough. Colonization fleets began being built by all nations, each eager to claim space for their own. Minor wars and battles broke out between these fleets. Space, the last frontier, was made into a battlefield. The governments oured funds endlessly into these great Colonization fleets, until the world's economy was on the brink of shattering. War began to erupt on Earth, and finally, through a mutual decision by the UN, the projects were stopped.
All contact with the distant fleets was cut off, and Earth turned to rebuild itself, leaving its wayward sons and daughters to fend for themselves in the darkness of space.
Ten years later, those fleets returned to Earth. But instead of the happiness that should have accompanied this reunion, there was only bloodshed.
The Fleets had united into one people, and turned their hatred of betrayal to Earth. A five year war broke out, that cost the lives of millions.
The Governments of the world eventually won the war, but they were broken, a shadow of their former glory. Surviving "Invaders" escaped back into space, and still exist on their colonies to this day.
On Earth, the Governments struggle to regain control. A large corperation has risen up from the middle east, with a new type of weapon known as "Arc-suit", mechanical battle suits. Tihs company is backed by such countries as Iraq, China, Germany, Afghanistan, Russia, and many other small countries, is in a "Cold War" with the remains of the UN, who have found support from a mysterious benefactor, gaining their own Arc-suits.
ok, thats my idea.
