Tyler, so far I have seen you argue that people shouldn't HAVE to be decent folks and that's it's wrong for the government to force them to have ethics and a sense of responsibility. Well, empathy and common decency be damned, then.

Believe it or not, the Healthcare bill is hardly Socialism. It's bigger government, but it's not the devil. You guys are spewing a good bit of McCarthyist backwash right now and you need to realize that you're touting myths as facts. Do you guys even know how large the tax will be resulting from the Healthcare bill will be? I sure as hell don't. I don't care either, I don't mind paying it. It's not that big of a deal. That video Adam posted? More McCarthyist backwash. The government isn't planning on killing your grandmother. Obama's death panels will not kill your baby. Grow up.

Keynesian logic: the more money put into the consumer's hands the more that money will be taxed. The more taxed the more the government will obtain. The multiplier effect. Plus, we were already coming out. We were getting more jobs. The unemployment rates were fantastic just before the WW2 even broke out. Sure WW2 boosted the economy, but those jobs always bail once the need is over. About rewarding more education. Sure, but do that on their own money they saved up. Get more incentives for it so they'll go for it. And not all doctors are better at their jobs with more education. While most are, its not 100%. If they get those incentives or not should be based on whether or not they actually improve. If they do, give it. If they don't, then they stay where they are at. They're will always people who just go so they'll get more money. You make sure they actually learned. Actually, the economy did well after WWII. It just had to readjust, but afterwards it boomed. Although, it was the 50's, which was CONSUMERISM EVERYWHERE! But still...... Yeah, defensive jobs were dropped, but they had the whole GI Bill and everything. They were pretty tight then....back when a hamburger, fries, and a coke were ten cents.....but then again, not everyone worked. Women were homemakers until around the 60's.....I think the 1950's may have just been....the 50's. |

People wont be decent otherwise. I don't care about meaning right now. When it comes to lives, meaning is secondary to results. I'd rather people save lives begrudgingly than let them slip away with a feeling of twisted, selfish contentment.

I was informing you that it is a tactic. I was also invalidating your previous argument about motivation. The very people who are arguing that people aren't motivated in a socialist system are themselves unmotivated in a capitalist system. How can your point be taken seriously with that fact on the table?
