Awesome Land: Items of Legend

As the Awesome Land series progresses, I find that it becomes more and more epic with each post. As such, I believe it necessary for us to keep track of all things outside of our characters (such as items, monsters, etc.) so we have easy reference to them when the time comes necessary. For simplicity purposes, I ask that you include only items from Random World, Awesome Land and Omega World until I bother examining Dynasty City, which I regretfully haven't posted in recently.

Please use the following format for all item posts. Most of it should be self explanatory; the Place of Origin is where the item/monster was born or created, and the First Seen is where it was first seen. (Awesome Land, Random World, etc)

Name: Hystoger
Type: Short Sword

Place of Origin: Awesome Land

First Seen: Awesome Land: An Interactive Story
Features: Hystoger is the blade of Chaos and Strife, notable for being responsible for many of Emperor Veralice's evil deeds. It emits an invisible dark aura and augments the wielder's magic powers.

History: In West Awesome Land, born and raised. In a pedestal is where it spent most of its days. Chillin' out, killin', waitin' to be held when all of a sudden the pedestal it felled. Then a young Emperor, who was up to some good, took the mighty sword back to his neighborhood. He touched the sword one time and everyone got scared, he said "I'm now going to control you all from inside mah lair."

Name: RIDLEY - Rabid Intelligent Dragon Led to Eliminate You (lol I found the acronym again.)
Type: Monster/Dragon

Place of Origin: Emperor Veralice's 9002 floor tower.

First Seen: Awesome Land!: An Interactive Story
Features: Standard fire breath, ability to fly, a very intimidating demeanor.

History: RIDLEY was originally Ridley, a pterodactyl who roamed the skies with his relatives Rachel and Riley. Sometime after Veralice withdrew the sword Hystoger from it's pedestal, he managed to find and enslave Ridley, engineering him with the power of magic to modify his mind for the sole purpose of guarding his tower.

Quote: (Optional; the following is an excerpt from the first Awesome Land. Ah, nostalgia...)

"This creature was born from dark energy and long division. I call him the Rabid Intelligent Dragon Led to Eliminate You, or 'RIDLEY' for short. Now, you all have defaced my palace long enough. Those of you equipped enough to take down my pet will escape with your lives and all the kandiez you can carry. The rest of you..." Veralice trailed off. He threw kandiez toward the box where RIDLEY was stored. A huge flame came from the box, roasting the kandiez into ash.

"Hahaha. Without any more of this waiting, RIDLEY, attack!" Veralice yelled, throwing kandiez all across the floor below to give RIDLEY something to target. RIDLEY immediately flew from the box and soared to the bottom of the palace, breathing flames toward anyone next to the kandiez.

Name: (Corrupted) Beauty Mirror
Type: Item - Mirror

Place of Origin: Many of you probably did not know this, but Veralice has (or had, rather) a ritual chamber in which he does most of his engineering, hidden within one of the 9002 floors. It was on this floor that the Mirror was transformed into it's Corrupted state.

First Seen: Awesome Land!: An Interactive Story

Features: While not as powerful as the original Beauty Mirror, the Corrupted version (now known as CBM) has many powers, most notably that of deception. This form of the Mirror can only be controlled by Veralice and can show reflections of what someone truly wants within his heart. If Veralice is not pleased with the image, he can manipulate it at will. Veralice normally kept it in a small alternate dimension where it was eventually found by the Time Keeper.

History: Sometime before the events of Awesome Land but after Leon took hold of Hystoger, he traveled to the neighboring Kingdom of Really Cool. It was there that he snuck into the castle of O'Malley royal family and stole the mirror. After bringing it to his own tower, a single touch upon the mirror's glass twisted it into what he had assumed was an irreversible shadow of its former self.

Quote: (It should be noted that Leon was in the guise of a child at the time and hadn't managed to get his voice as high pitched as it should have been. He and Johnny were at McJimmy's discussing things, and Leon uses the power of tears to prevent Johnny from attacking him in front of all the customers/witnesses.)

Johnny ignored the looks of the restaurant patrons.

~This kids voice is still too deep to be seven anyways~

"Maybe you don't know where she is. MAYBE. Still it was your fault she went missing. You stole the Beauty Mirror!" Johnny was becoming angry.

"It's not my fault your sister was foolish enough to chase after me...Not the best locater, is she?" Leon said, stopping his tears momentarily. "And that Beauty Mirror was such a cool object...I had to have it." Leon explained, although it was a very sad excuse. "What is that mirror supposed to do, anyway. When I first touched it seemed to turn...'evil' to say the least." Leon said, who didn't know much about the mirror aside from the fact that he could show whatever image he chose through it.

Name: Young Leon
Type: Human Child/Sorcerer

Place of Origin: McJimmy's Restaurant

First Seen: Awesome Land!: An Interactive Story

Features: Young Leon, also known just as Leon during Season I, is able to fool most people into thinking he's a child. No one had ever seen his adult form, Veralice's face (always hidden beneath a robe) and as thus didn't assume any correlation. He is skilled at thievery and is far more agile, a byproduct of being younger.

History: Emperor Veralice notices an oddly dressed Johnny acting as the mascot for McJimmy. He senses his strength and wants to approach him, but realizes doing so in Emperor form would not suit him. He transforms into a child (the only act of shapeshifting he has ever done) and jumps from the building's roof to confront Johnny.

Quote:

~What a funny spectacle...Perhaps I could use this to my advantage...~ thought Leon. He used his epic dagger Hystoger and his own dark magic to shape shift into a young robed child for some espionage. He did is best to disguise his voice as he jumped from the roof of McJimmy's to speak with Johnny.

Name: Artifacts of Wisdom
Type: Item(s) - Staff, Sword, Shield, and Mirror

Place of Origin: Really Cool Land

First Seen: Awesome Land 1 and 2

History: The Artifacts of Wisdom were once scattered across the land of Really Cool. Although at one point locked away, eventually they were uncovered and their powers turned against one another. Finally a hero emerged who traveled Really Cool Land and defeated the four who help the Artifacts, uniting Really Cool Land under one flag. He became the First King of Really Cool Land. And there was peace. Seeing the power of the Artifacts, he locked them in a vault, sealed with magic, and placed deep within the Really Cool Palace. There they remained for hundreds of years...

As the years went by, the story passed to myth, and the Artifacts became heralded as mere symbols for power, rather than as Artifacts OF power. Such things are not uncommon in the world, but each is disappointing.

Eventually, Johnny and Sarah Mambutoo o'Malley were born into the royal family; Sarah, a few years older than Johnny. Sarah was curious about the artifacts, and so took her brother deep into the castle to find them. And find them they did: the vault responded to the presence of royal (and perhaps heroic) blood and opened, revealing the long fantasized Artifacts of Wisdom.

Johnny was naturally drawn to the Ugly Stick, Sarah to the True Sword, but both were captivated by the Beauty Mirror. While they were transfixed, a member of the servants, who had followed them, rushed in and tried to take the Artifacts. By taking the Mirror first, he broke the spell over the children and allowed Johnny to strike him with the Ugly Stick. He was, of course, the Time Keeper, and the Ugly Stick transformed him into a clock form. Before he could respond, the castle guard had him thrown out.

As for why he abandoned the use of his powers, the Artifacts do not allow Time to be manipulated in their presence, and the clock form severely hindered his powers.

More years passed. After being reprimanded for opening the Vault, Johnny and Sarah were eventually taught about the Artifacts and what they do. They grew into their teenage years and watched as they raced by.

Then, another attempt was made to steal the Artifacts. Only the Beauty Mirror was taken, but that was all that was needed. Leon Veralice, emperor of Awesome Land, was the culprit. (As for exactly why, I'll leave that up to Austin). Desperate to prove herself, and feeling a sort of guilt about the Mirror's theft - since she was the one who opened the vault - Sarah set out with the True Sword to Awesome Land to recover the Mirror. There she encountered Leon Veralice who, through a combination of his own powers an the Beauty Mirror's, trapped her in another dimension - the Veral Dimension. Residing dangerously close to the Null-Void (which I will also explain later) Sarah's being began to gradually drift away.

A year passed. Johnny and his family grew worried. He wanted to go and find her, but they would not risk losing another child. So he snuck out, taking with him the Ugly Stick and False Shield, for Awesome Land. He took a job at a McJimmy's in an attempt to learn about this Leon Veralice character. Some time later, he was approached by a rather curious little boy with an unnaturally low voice. aNd the rest is history...

Features of each will be explained in detail later.

Name: Telumbra

Subtitle: The Staff of Shadows

Type: Item - Staff

Place of Origin: Temple of Hysteria (Hystoger's Shrine)

First Seen: Awesome Land II: The War of Four Kings

Features: Telumbra is the Staff of Shadows, the self proclaimed Divine Weapon of Darkness with power similar to Hystoger. Like Hystoger, the staff augments the wielder's magical powers. It has various spherical sockets for reasons not even known to Leon. A golden tipped spear is inside the staff and can be ejected, extending the staff to 6 feet (from its original 4 feet) and equipping it for melee combat. It should be noted that Leon first performed necromancy with this staff, raising Amarillo Slim from the dead and stealing Masamune. A power that has not been used is the Power Enchantment ability. Telumbra has the ability to enchant various objects with a laser beam, though only to a small extent; this extent is increased with the wielder's power and the staff's power. Telumbra has an affinity for dimensional rule breaking, shown by Leon's excessive summoning of items from the Shadow World, such as Shadow Water and Shadow Milk.

History: After Emperor Veralice was dethroned during the War of Four Kings, he traveled to the Temple of Hysteria where he first laid his hands upon Hystoger. He reflected upon his past and realized that he no longer desired power and wanted to give back to the community that he had taken so much from. To do this he wanted to rid himself of all ties to his past, prompting him to discard Hystoger and think of a new weapon. He wanted one that required more intellect than brute force, and as such he decided to craft a staff. He took Hystoger and cut off a branch that had been corrupted by the shrine's power, creating a delicate staff. He reinforced it with metal from the shrine and added a spear, creating Telumbra, the Staff of Shadows. It retains much of the darkness from Hystoger, but in a more controllable and non-evil form since it was created using the blade but while Leon was in a heroic state. The staff has a large V at the top, assumingly for 'Veralice'

Set Effects - (A new area required for items; this is where you put what happens if the item is combined with others from a set. For example, if the Artifacts of Wisdom had effects when all next to each other, you would put that here.) When Leon placed the Wind Orb in the staff, it harnessed the power of Wind while retaining it's dark magic, giving Leon a variety of Dark/Wind attacks.

Quote (I really love this section...It really gives you that feeling of nostalgia and accomplishment of having created a history.):

"I'll rid myself of this blade [Hystoger]. The path I choose no longer requires swordplay...Only magic, intellect, and cunning." Veralice said. "As my last bit of gratitude to you, Hystoger, I shall use you to carve a more useful weapon." With a branch that had been magically reinforced with dark energy from the temple, Veralice created a beautiful wooden staff...

Name: Masamune

Subtitle: The Blade of Light

Type: Item - Sword/Katana

Place of Origin: Veralice's Tower

First Seen: Awesome Land!: An Interactive Story, though it was not used by Veralice until Awesome Land II.

Features: Masamune's most notable feature is its remarkable length, standing somewhere around 7 feet. The blade shines with remarkable brilliance and could cut through the night with ease and indirectly protects the wielder from damage, giving some explanation (albeit a weak one) to Amarillo Slim and Leon Veralice's survival from ridiculous events.

History: Sometime before the Reign of the Mad Emperor (the title that shall henceforth describe Emperor Veralice's reign during Awesome Land 1) and after taking Hystoger, Leon went after after various artifacts that would prolong his reign as long as possible. He succeeded in stealing the Beauty Mirror from the Kingdom of Really Cool, tainting it with his very touch. He knew he would need even more power to secure his Emperor status and went off for one of the most powerful blades in history, the legendary Masamune. He traveled to Super Land, a semi-theocratic kingdom led by Raphael and laid his hands upon the blade. Oddly enough, the sword did not react to his power as the mirror had, and rather than be corrupted by darkness it glowed with more brilliance. Infuriated at what he deemed to be insubordination from a weapon, he went to his tower and sealed the blade inside a chest covered in traps. It was here that Amarillo Slim stole the blade unharmed (whether this is from his own power or Masamune's is unexplained) and escaped. A year or so later, after obtaining Telumbra, Leon resurrected the dead Amarillo whose body had not decayed due to Masamune's power. He swiftly took back Masamune and sent Amarillo back into the fissure from which he arose. As Leon has an affinity for darkness, he is reluctant to use the sword, but has evaded many situations from it.

Set Effects - The sword's powers are known only to a select few in the Wind Tribe of Super Land. Leon knows very little about it, though he claims to have more than enough knowledge to use it properly.

"That fool...He had the artifact that could make me even more powerful..." Leon muttered as he stopped reminiscing. "Within it is contained a magical power unknown to any mortal aside from myself. Too bad he had to randomly jump in and explode himself after a fit of spam or something...Although that gives me an idea..."

"To test my magic, I shall do what no one has ever done! By using the power of that stolen blade, he should be easily resurrected..." Leon said, and he raised his staff into the air as he walked away from everyone. "By the power of Telumbra, the Staff of Shadows, come to me, and with you all of your powers and weapons!" he yelled. The very earth began to shake as a fissure opened up in the ground. From the depths came none other than Amarillo Slim, slightly decayed but relatively healthy because of the stolen Masamune.

"YO WASSUP EVRY-"

"I'll be taking that now." said Leon, and in a manner befitting the movie 300 he stole the shining sword Masamune and kicked Amarillo back into the fissure.

Name: The True Sword

Item type: Sword (one-handed)

Place of Origin: Really Cool Land

First Seen: Awesome Land II: The War of Four Kings (though mentioned in The Reign of the Mad Emperor)

Features: the True Sword is an Artifact of Wisdom. Its power is truth. That is, it cuts through deceit and breaks down lies. It can function as a normal sword, with its power being activated at the users will. When the True Sword's power is being used, it will not harm or kill, instead it will literally break down enchantments, disguises, lies or anything else that hinders the truth.

History: It is unknown who or what created it, but the first person to wield the True Sword was Raydeighn (Ray-den). After discovering the Swords powers he used them to win duels and contests, amassing a good amount of wealth and prestige. But the powers began to take their toll on him. He eventually saw only the negatives of the world; the happy lies and facades people put on were obvious to him: unfaithful wives and husbands, cheats, murderers, rapists. He saw them all. So eventually he used his prestige to amass and army of good soldiers, the Pure Blades. With this, he set about to eliminate the filth form Really Cool Land. He and Uthora (the wielder of the Ugly Stick) waged war on each other for many years until the Man Who Would be the First King deceived Raydeign, and took the True Sword. With it, he gathered the other artifacts of Wisdom and united Really Cool Land under one King. The Sword sat in the Vault with the others until Sarah and Johnny opened it. After she took it to Awesome Land after Veralice, it was lost to the Veral Dimension along with her. The Time Keeper sought a way to open the Veral Dimension to claim the True Sword and use it to regain his true powers and form. Sarah reached out to Johnny and Cha Cha Watsrobe from the Veral Dimension, giving Cha Cha the True Sword to help Johnny. Cha Cha gave her a Soul Patch that would hep keep her from fading into the Null-Void. After Sarah was brought back by Johnny, and the Time Keeper regained his form, Sarah held on the Sword, and has since carried it to the Sea of Sand.

Name: False Shield

Item type: Shield

Place of Origin: Really Cool Land

First seen: Awesome Land!: An Interactive Story

History: Like the True Sword, the False Shield's actual origins are unknown. What is known is the first wielder: Draegarr. He flaunted the Shield's powers, using them to scam people out of money, sometimes their wills. He cheated ans stole, and took advantage of many people. Everyone new his name, but no one could find him, since he could disguise his identity. The Man Who Would Be the First King came after him, guided by the True Sword. His disguises shattered, Draegarr was faced with who he really was and all the pain he caused. It was too much for him to bear, so he took a knife to his heart. The False Shield was taken and eventually placed in the Vault. After the Vault was opened, and Sarah vanished, Johnny took it and the Ugly Stick to find her. He used it to disguise himself as a dumb-blond model, a pirate, and Shadow the Hedgehog.

features/Powers: The False Shield has the power to disguise anyone perfectly. It is only an illusion, but a very good one. Only the other artifacts of Wisdom can break a False Shield illusion.

"Fine," Johnny spat. He help out his left arm (the one not holding the Ugly Stick). A shield materialized on it. Veralice and Amarillo watched him, puzzled. At once the image of the blond-haired, blued-eyed, dumb-as-shit ex-male-model vanished.

But that's the thing, Raydeign wasn't a "good guy". His war was really against pretty much anyone who lied or cheated. The Man Who Would Be the First King was a little egotistical, but the people liked him.

As for Uthora... he just felt like being an ass. He does, after all, wield the Ugly Stick.

I suppose that makes enough sense. If I had been Raydeign I would've taken my army and punched Mr. First King in the face.

Name: The Ugly Stick

Item Type: staff

First Seen: Awesome Land!: An Interactive Story

History: The Ugly Stick was first wielded by a man named Uthora. He used the power of the Ugly Stick to change people into hideous versions of themselves, reflective of their inner person. As such he was hated and feared. Raydeign sought him out, desiring the Ugly Stick for his own purposes. Eventually the Man Who Would BE First King used the True Sword and False Shield to defeat Uthora and claim the Ugly Stick. It, too, was placed in the Vault. It was then used by Johnny in search of his sister.

Features: Brings a person's inner ugliness out, making them lok as they act.

As RIDLEY was repeatedly assaulted by the weapon, he crashed into the ground at the very bottom of the palace, creating a huge cloud of smoke around the area. When the smoke cleared, RIDLEY emerged completely different.

Name: Wind Orb

Type: Item - Jewel

Place of Origin:

First Seen: Awesome Land II: The War of Four Kings

Features: The Wind Orb, as the name suggests, is an elemental orb given power over wind by the spirits of nature. As such, whoever holds it has control of the wind itself and can use it to create anything from slight breezes to destructive tornadoes. An extra, useful feature of the orb is its ability to manipulate its size. When in use by Raphael it took the size of a large crystal ball which sat upon his desk. When the orb had been claimed by Leon, he manipulated the size, changing it to that of a small ball so it could fit comfortably into his staff.

History: Little is known of the Wind Orb's origins, but it came into use after Raphael, its guardian, was barred from using Light Magic after a curse was placed upon him.

Set Effects: It can be combined with the power of Telumbra as shown in the post about Telumbra, and assumingly gives the wielder total control over nature when held with the orbs of Earth, Fire and Water.

I have a question about Omega world...

What orb are we going after once we have the Earth orb? Cuz Karxm (in Random World) has the Water orb. That just leaves Fire.

To be honest, Fire is what I had planned on going after next anyway. After Karxm makes his way to Omega World somehow, we find Fire (in a realm of pure awesomness) and then, of course, a battle ensues over who gets to keep all four. Because I want them. And I need them. ULTIMATE POWER SHALL BE MINE!
