A few seconds later, Zento, having apparently been completly forgot about, approached the others, mostly unharmed, but a few of his hairs were on fire.

Perverted Fat Guy popped out of nowhere with a random kid. This kid was about twice as fat as PFG (IMPOSSIBLE!!) and was also on fire. His name.... is Really Fat Kid.
PFG and RFK ran up to Zento and cried, "ONE OF US!!" then ran into the next cave. The light of their fires could be seen for several minutes until they finally disappeared into a tunnel that split off from the main tunnel.
"That was odd," Xero remarked.
Rowlek was aghast, his face turning green at the sight of Really Fat Kid. "I had.... *urk*.... no idea Perverted Fat Guy had a kid..... *ugh!*" Rowlek disappeared behind a boulder. He returned a few moments later, his face no longer green, but still pale.
"Moving on!" Michael declared, anxious to find the Hidden Scale. Kicking his neck strap/gearshift into gear, he sped off into the Caves of Mount Danock. The others followed closely behind.

Zento looked around, but didn't see Vincent. He decided to hold his puke until later.

In the Ausum Palace, Mykal awoke from his sound sleep. Something was bothering him. He looked at his mother in the bed next to his. He decided to go get a drink of water.
Tiptoeing from the room, Mykal sneaked down to the kitchen and climbed up on the counter. He reached up to the cabinet and grabbed a glass. Filling his glass with cool, refreshing water from the indoor well, Mykal took a sip of water. Satisfied, he carried the glass back to his room.
But then he noticed that the instrument storage room door was open, and a lamp was lit inside. He saw a shadow moving around in the fire light and heard the slamming of cases and the clanging of metal. He peeked in the room and saw a figure in a black cloak rummaging through the various Brass instruments, stuffing random instruments and parts into a black bag. There was an insignia of a silver Oboe on the back of his cloak. Mykal gasped.
Suddenly, the figure froze. Mykal darted behind the door, trying hard not to breathe. The figure turned around, but soon returned to his work. Mykal peered around the door again, but the figure was gone. He stepped into the room and looked around. But just as he did, a bag was thrown over his head, and a foot collided with his stomach. He was clubbed in the head, and everything went black.
His glass shattered on the ground, the shards falling in a pattern: EHS.

Johnny noticed Cha Cha.
"Hey, it's been a while, hasn't it? How's Sarah?"

"She's doing well. How have you been?" Cha Cha asked as they started heading toward the palace.

"Oh, you know..." Johnny said vaguely, knowing full well that Cha Cha did not know. He unconsciously placed a hand on Katakari, which hung on his waist.
"How's my nephew?"

Arriving at the palace, Cha Cha said, "He's great. A handful. Your typical seven-year-old."
Just as he said this, a figure burst from the palace doors, knocking Cha Cha to the ground.
"Hey!" Cha Cha shouted after the figure. There was something weird about the figure. He noticed a silver emblem on the back of his cloak as he ran away. And he saw the bag in his hand, squirming around.
"Heeeeeeeeeelllp!!!" came a tiny, muffled voice. Cha Cha knew that voice anywhere: Mykal! Cha Cha's eyes flashed red dangerously, and he darted after the figure, gaining on him easily.
"Johnny! Get my father! He'll show you where Sarah is! Wake her up and tell her Mykal's been kidnapped!!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kidnapped! Kidnapped! Kidnapped!
There was no need for Johnny to awaken Sarah. Her senses told her something was wrong, and she jerked upright, suddenly wide awake. She ran to her closet and threw on her travel clothes. She grabbed the Beauty Mirror and her sword and ran out of her room. She nearly collided with Johnny as he came in the front door.
"Johnny!" she cried. She hugged him, but then remembered what had happened. "No time for a reunion! Come on!" She sped off after Cha Cha, leaving Johnny behind.
The skies darkened over Ausum Land. Clouds began gathering in the sky, eventually swirling over one point, the geographic center of Ausum Land. These swirling clouds covered all of the continent. Suddenly, Muse's Knights of Cydonia began playing. All could hear the mighty chords of the song, and all began to tremble. As the song progressed, the clouds began to part. Like the eye of a hurricane, a hole opened at the focal point of the swirling clouds. Women and children screamed. From this hole, something descended. Accelerating at an incredible speed, the object was surrounded by flame. The heavens themselves had opened up to deliver this falling star to Ausum Land. As it accelerated more, the tail of the object grew. Finally it hit the ground, and a cloud of dust arose from the impact. As the cloud cleared, a crater half a mile in diameter was revealed. From this crater, a figure emerged. Upon this figure's head was a viking helmit. The cloud completely cleared to reveal a large, terrifying Nordic man of incalculable age. The viking reached behind his head and pulled a battleaxe from behind him. This was no ordinary battleaxe. It was a string instrument. The nord played his axe with the final chords of Knights of Cydonia.
This is Dolf Holhagen, Destroyer of Worlds and Giver of Battleaxe Lessons. His wrath is inescapable, his rage insatiable, his beard unshaveable.
Dolf played a guiter riff, and the earth split before him. From this fissure, a motorcyle emerged. Dolf replaced his battleaxe in the sling across his back and mounted the vehicle. He sped off into the distance with a cloud of dust and awesome behind him.
All hail Dolf Holhagen.
Zento watched this event with semi-interest. He was getting bored and wondering why they were all just standing around.
Wondering why Zento was wondering why they were standing around, Rowlek ran ahead to scout out the cave. Rowlek soon caught site of a light in a side tunnel. Probably just PFG and RFK again. Ignoring the light, he continued through the main tunnel, passing side tunnel after side tunnel. Eventually, Rowlek caught up with the rest of the group (lol wut?). He had just gone in a complete circle!
"So, what did you find?" Xero asked Rowlek, completely ignoring the fact that the man that had just run ahead of them had randomly popped up behind them.
"This cave goes in circles," Rowlek reported. We have to go down one of the side tunnels to get out of here. I think that Perverted Fat Guy and Really Fat Kid knew where they were going. I saw the light of their fires earlier. We should follow them."
(In honor of Mole Day, coming up in a few weeks...)
The group reached the tunnel where Rowlek had seen the light and went down the tunnel. Strangely, the light had not moved any deeper into the tunnel. When they were practically on top of the fire, Xero peered around the cave wall and saw, not PFG and RFK, but a rather short man in blue overalls, and a red shirt and hat. His face was rather oddly shaped: it showed the features of a mole, with a long snout, a black button nose, and whiskers. The mountain seemed to hollow out into a large room, big enough for three people to live in. It had a coal oven on one side, a table next to the oven, a TV and three chairs in the middle, and three beds on the other side. Opposite the tunnel where the travelers were standing was another tunnel. A dim light shown from inside the tunnel, and the travelers heard the sound of dripping and slowly running water. It must have been the bathroom.
Out of nowhere, Really Fat Kid came running by in a frenzy, still on fire. He ran past the travelers and into the room, past the Moleman, and into the "bathroom." The Moleman looked up and jumped at the sight of the travelers. His hand began to glow, and a fireball appeared, with an energy level of 6.02 x 1023.
"Wh-wh-who-a are you?" the creature stammered fearfully.
"Don't be afraid," Xero spoke calmly. "We are friends. We won't hurt you. We are simply traveling through these mountains, and it seems we have gotten ourselves lost. Would you mind giving us directions?"
Moleman's eyes lit up, and the fire in his hand was transferred his eyes. I-a know these-a mountains like-a the palm of my hand!"
"Thank you, kind sir," Xero said, shaking Moleman's.... claw. "What do they call you?"
Moleman looked startled and jumped up, landing in a strange pose. He was shocked that they had never heard of him. "It's-a me! Molio!"
Vincent who had avoided Zento for he hated seeing puke on his B.L. boots. He had vigorously cleaned them while he was ignored. Looking towards Molio he pondered the power of mole (6.02 x 1023)
Zento sighed. First random caves, now a Moleman. He missed the days where there wasn't time to think about how random things were, it was just non-stop fighting... Of course, that had been against one person and it was during his training, but still...
He noticed Vincent, and thought about PFG, but the moment had passed and his stomach had stopped turning... for now. He laughed maniacally to himself.
Cha Cha continued chasing the EHS agent carrying Mykal. He soon caught up with the Woodwind and grabbed him by the shoulders. He crushed the Woodwind under the action of gravity on his mass relative to his position from the core of the earth (weight). The Woodwind crumbled to the ground, unconscious, dropping the sack in his hand to the ground. There was a muffled grunt of pain as Mykal landed on the ground at 6m/s. (lolz I liek using Fiziks in mah posts)
Cha Cha tore the bag open, revealing Mykal sitting on top of a myriad of Brass instruments. He helped Mykal to his feet and made sure he was alright.
"Are you alright?" he asked redundantly.
"Y - *sniff* - yeah," Mykal replied. He looked down at the Woodwind lying on the ground. Mykal picked up a Piccolo Trumpet that had been stolen. It was the same one he had played earlier that day.
"Mykal," Cha Cha protested, "you might want to start with something a little bit easier - "
Just as he finished saying this, Mykal began playing. Cha Cha was amazed at what he heard. Mykal scaled up from a low Call the way up to a Overheat C in a matter of seconds. He held out the Overheat C for a few more seconds, then took a deep breath. Beginning at Overheat C, he scaled past LOLFLUTE C, LOLPICCOLO C, and up to Trumpet Suicide C. But he didn't stop there. He continued to ascend through his range. He soon reached Absolute Xero C, Xero's signature note, as he was the first recorded Trumpet Player to ever reach it, though his father had discovered the ability to play it years before, but had never seen the need to play it again. Absolute Xero C is the point where a Trumpet Player's lips are moving so fast, they should theoretically not be moving at all, thus the name Absolute Xero (Zero).
The Woodwind jerked violently, thrown into fierce convulsions by the incomprehensible sound of a seven-year-old playing Absolute Xero C, nine octaves above the staff. The Woodwind asploded inward under the incredible pressure of the note on his body. There was no mess to clean up, besides the instruments, because the Woodwind imploded. The mess cleaned itself up. Literally.
Cha Cha stood in awe. He had never heard anyone other than his brother play Absolute Xero C. Including Phantom. Phantom had kept it to himself, even from his children. Now here was this seven-year-old, who had never played an instrument before in his life, and he popped out an Absolute Xero C flawlessly! Mykal truly was a Prodigy.
They walked back toward the palace in silence. They ran into Sarah on the way, and she hugged Cha Cha and picked Mykal up in her arms, tears dripping from her eyes. She wiped them on her cloak sleeve, handing Mykal to Cha Cha. Cha Cha slung him over his shoulder as the young Prodigy began to fall asleep. Sarah did not mention that she had heard Mykal playing just then, as well as earlier in the day. She thought it best not to tell him for now.
"Molio, you say?" Rowlek asked. "I think I've heard that name before." Molio's face lit up. He had been heard of! "Yes, I know that name. Weren't you the one who went to Moledor in Upper Earth a last year to destroy the Mole of Avogadro?"
"Yes!" Molio exclaimed. "That's-a me! How did you know?"
"Having been in Queen Lauren's Special Royal Guard, I've been on many adventures with the Special Royal Navy all across the world. I've been to Upper Earth many times on vacation, and I just so happened to be there about the same time you were in Moledor. You were also joined by Gimli the dwarf; Legolass (pronounced leg-oh-lass, as in the Scottish/Irish word for girl) the elf girl; Jake and Elwood, the Blues Brothers; and King Arthur and Patsy, were you not?"
"Yes! Yes! That is all-a true!" Molio cried, shaking with happiness.
"How would you like to join us? Rowlek asked. "We could use your help against the Woodwind King."
"Hmmm...." Molio cogitated on this offer for a while. "There is one requirement, however," Xero added. "You must be able to play a Brass or Percussion instrument."
Molio's eyes flashed knowingly, and he disappeared into a small side door that only he could fit through. He emerged a few seconds later with an old, beat up trumpet. He put the dusty instrument to his lips and squeaked out a few notes. Then he proceeded to play Shake a Tail Feather, proud that he had finally learned to play it after disappointing the Blues Brothers before.
"Very well," Xero said. "Welcome to the Ausum Army." He pulled a stout sword from his cloak and handed it to Molio. This sword's name is Sing (lol not Sting: Sing). It will serve you well." Then he looked at Kayne, indicating that he should accept Molio into the Jazz Squad, as well.
Kayne went through the process of offering then accepting a member into the JS Bach. He handed him the Amulet of the Jazz Band. "Molio the Trumpeter welcome to JS Bach. The most talented Jazz band EVER." Kayne bragged. Vincent walked around the corner and played a chorale of scrying. He viewed the source of the nearly impossible notes. What he saw left him shocked. Instead of Phantom, Xero or Cha Cha he saw Mykal. "B...b...but he hasn't played from what I heard he shouldn't be able to get even CLOSE." Vincent whispered.
Jacob Throop and Chris Oglesby suddenly felt a strange buzz in their minds. They knew that sensation, even though it had only occurred once before: during the war against Emotecon. It was the call of the Brass Legends. They were being summoned.
Jacob and Chris exchanged knowing glances, then silently and inconspicuously slipped away from the group. They spun around and turned into their respective instruments: a Cornet and a Euphonium. They flew off to meet with the other Brass Legends in Beethaven.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was a flash of light deeper in the cave. The group had returned to the trail and were nearing the cave exit. They could smell the fresh air. Molio scurried ahead, eager to get into the sunlight. Rowlek was hot on his heels. Not to be outdone, Xero caught up quickly.
They emerged from the cave and saw a great plain. Trees were scattered across the expanse of land, and a few tents were gathered around one abnormally large tree. Boulders littered the plain, and a few boulders seemed to have been carved out into miniature caves. A small group of people were crowded around something. They were very small people. Rather short and fat. Molio ran up to one particular person and dragged him over to meet the travelers.
"Everyone," Molio announced, "this-a is Gimli."
"Hello, Gimli," Rowlek said.
Gimli merely grunted, then returned to the crowd. Then he realized something. He looked at Xero, then at the object the dwarves were crowded around. He grabbed the object and carried it to the travelers, the object shimmering in the sunlight. He placed the object at Xero's feet. It was a crown. A great crown. An Ausum crown. It was the crown that had been stolen by Rudat days before.
Xero reached for the crown and placed it atop his head. A powerful feeling surged through his body. He felt his Musicality level soar over 9000!
Having gotten what he had come for, Xero turned to Rowlek and said, "Rowlek, I'm placing you in charge of the Ausum Army. I will send you a brigade of the Phantom Regiment. They will follow your orders. Find the Woodwinds and take some as prisoners. Bring them back to the Ausum Kingdom. Conquer the Woodwinds by any means necessary. Good luck." With that, Xero hopped onto his Herald Trumpet and turned the mouthpiece key a quarter turn, starting the engine, then sped off back through the cave of Mount Danock, back toward the Ausum Kingdom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now it was just Molio, Rowlek, Lacquer, Tuba Justin, Kayne, Zento, and Vincent. Rowlek started to march onward across the plain, and the others followed him.
Dolf remenisced as he motorcycled off to some unknown location. He remembered the first Battle of the Bands. He remembered his old instrument. He remembered the betrayal. He remembered the anger. He remembered the Alamo. He couldn't forget that time. He couldn't forget the sights, the sounds, the feel of the war. He couldn't forget the flutaphonetsoonboe he once weilded, the ultimate fusion of woodwinds, and he couldn't forget the day he cast it down. He remembered his self-proclaimed neutrality, and the string instrument he now played. His battleaxe felt natural, like it was merely an extension of his body, whenever he played it. Yet, he still felt unsure about his choice. He still wondered if he should pick a side once more...
Xero reached castle about the same time Cha Cha, Mykal, and Johnny did. He greeted them as they entered the castle, but they seemed too subdued to acknowledge him but for a slight nod of recognition. He wondered what could be wrong, but he decided to wait to ask till morning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ausum Land: Ausum Palace: Two days after coronation day: Morning
Xero woke up that morning fully refreshed. He had finally had his first night of sleep in the Prince's bed. He had fallen into a deep sleep as soon as he hit the mattress and didn't wake up until well past dawn.
He went down to the throne room, where Phantom was already sitting in his throne. A guard showed Xero to the dining hall, where he ate a feast of doughnuts, cereal, toast, eggs, sausages, and coffee, as well as the Ausum Land specialty: zeylef, a type of muffin made with special ingredients found only in Ausum Land.
After his breakfast, Xero returned to the throne room and sat in his throne. He sat and waited. And waited. And waited.
Who knew being Prince of Ausum Land could be so boring? Well, he would just have to get used to it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cha Cha woke up only a few minutes after Xero. He was shown to the dining hall almost immediately after Xero had left, and he returned to his room soon after. He found Sarah still in bed, but Mykal was nowhere to be found. That was because he was at the Academy of Legends. He had already discussed his plans for Mykal with his father, and he had found that Phantom agreed with him, having heard Mykal play Trumpet Suicide C previously. It appeared Cha Cha and Sarah would be living in Ausum Land for a while. Until Mykal had graduated from the Academy. Or at least until he was old enough to care for himself.
Cha Cha sat in his bed and thought back to his time in Awesome Land. He remembered his first meeting with Leon Veralice, the former emperor. He remembered the first time he had seen Johnny and how he had thought he was a fool. Then he remembered how he had been proven wrong. He remembered first meeting Sarah. He remembered his adventure in Special Land and his escape back to Awesome Land. He remembered the War of Four Kings. He remembered helping to free Sarah from the Null Void. And he remembered searching for the True Sword in the Pocket of Darkness, then his being knocked unconscious by the Perverted Fat Guy and being sent back to Really Cool Land.
Those had been good times. But his adventures seemed to be at a hold for the moment. The adventures were left for the young. The childless. Those like Rowlek. The experienced, like Laquer. The brave, like his brother.
He had made up his mind. He scrawled a hasty note and laid it on the bedside table next to Sarah's head. He threw his Trumpet Hero's cloak around his shoulders, grabbed his Trumpet, and sheathed the True Sword. He slung his gig bag over his shoulder and crept out of the room silently. He pulled his hood over his eyes as he set off toward the Eastern Mountains. The Ancient Tune had called him.
