nah. once school is over, Imma be writing like a madman. but I thought it would be interesting/fun to make it not even a robot series at all
as I've said before - NPE and ToE are ripe, but I just don't have time.

So where's the setting for this?

Ok. Word Vomit time.
In this universe, basically the setup is the same. Adam, Lilith, etc. Second Impact happens basically the same way (as far as I can determine - although this might not end being the same. Depends on how the rest of it pans out. It would be kind of cool to set it in a true futuristic world.) Instead of the Angels appearing as giant monsters, they appear more or less as they do in Gakuen Datenroku (Campus Apocalypse) as humans, but with special powers. Sachiel, for example, gains the ability to summon lances of light, and Shamshel whips of light. The Angels seek the elimination of Lilith and/or the union with Adam to eliminate the Lilin.
Because the Angels are humanoid, Gehirn/Nerv didn't construct giant robots, but armor for the Children. This is where is gets weird. More or less, the Armor is like a refined A.T. Field - only activated while wearing a PLUG Suit (yes, its an acronym; I'll explain it later). Eva armor is probably still the mother's protection.
Seele is still pulling the strings, specifically Keel. Keel desires control over all souls - the Throne of Souls.
Uh...more or less that's all I got. At least all that's coherent now.

Ok. ignore most of what I typed above.
Second Impact Never happened, at least not the way in the series. It still occurred in Antarctica, and with the Lance of Longinus, but it didn't cause Second Impact, it simply generated an Anti-A.T. Field that killed all the members of the Antarctic base, except Misato, who survived and joined Nerv. The Contact experiment was necessary, as it reduced Adam's power and split into the Angels, which scattered across the world.
Rei is still a clone of Yui, only more bitter about not being the original - what is that, inferiority complex? Gendo tries to coddle her, so she feels like she has to prove herself capable. She tends to be quiet, withdrawn, aloof, and sort of a bitch.
The numbered Angels don't include Adam or Lilith, but Sachiel is still the Third Angel. I'll let you ponder that.
Since Second Impact never happened, the world was not reduced to war. Thus, we are in the Future. (I can't remember if this happened in Gakuen Datenroku). Shinji is probably closer to his Rebuild incarnation, uncertain, hesitant, and shy, but capable of growing.
Keel still wants to sit on the Throne of Souls.

That is all.

Alright. Mind if I throw some ideas out? CYBERPUNK. That is all. I'm glad someone else was thinking that. Maybe I should watch some Ghost in the Shell first

Meh. Get some snowcrash in there. I've looked at Snowcrash before. I've been trying not to buy any more books because I have too many already. If anything, I'd probably get William Gibson's Sprawl trilogy.

Shinji has an ipod...
That and just have gratuitous amounts of tech.
Actually, I take that back. Since this is basically our world, I say that the setting is pre-cyber-punk.
IE: Tokyo is settling into a cyberpunk setting with amazing new technologies but isn't quite there yet.
Hell, the Eva's "souls" could just be data typed up to try and match motherly brain functions which bring out our latent AT-fields.

I'm toying with the idea of making him a hacker, but that ruins his reluctant hero status. So I probably won't do it.
Asuka is more impatient and eager to act than she is a bitch. She can still be like that, but I've mostly given the bitch role to Rei.

I'm afraid that I kept tinkering with that post, so give my other ideas some mulling over.
Also, Asuka needs glasses... and dare I say braces?

I don't know about Asuka's glasses, but I see what you mean by pre-cyberpunk. The tech is not quite there yet, but close. I like the soul-as-data thing, as that makes sense to put into a PLUG Suit, which ties into "awakening".
